Monks Eleigh

Milden is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district, in Suffolk, England. Located around four and half miles from Sudbury. In 2021 the parish had a population of 118. The parish borders Brent Eleigh, Edwardstone, Groton, Lindsey, Little Waldingfield and Monks Eleigh. There are 18 listed buildings in Milden. St Peter's Church is a Grade I listed building.The parish contains the Milden Thicks SSSI and the remains of Milden Castle.

Milden Castle was a motte-and-bailey castle on Foxburrow hill in Milden, a village in Suffolk, England. It was built in the 12th century, but today all that remains is the earth mound upon which it was constructed. The mound is a scheduled monument.

Lindsey is a small village and a civil parish, located in mid-to-south Suffolk, under the purview of Babergh District Council.

Chelsworth is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. It lies on the B1115 road, 10 miles in either direction from Sudbury and Stowmarket. It is part of Babergh district. The parish also contains the hamlet of Chelsworth Common. Built on the north bank of the River Brett, the entire village is classified as a conservation area, and contains numerous listed buildings. The Saxons called the area Ceorleswyrthe. Recorded in Domesday as "Cerleswrda". Also be listed historically as Cheilesworth.

St James' Chapel is a 13th-century chapel located near the village of Lindsey, Suffolk, England. Built in 1250 of flint, brick and stone, the small church served as the chantry chapel for nearby Lindsey castle. The chapel was in use until 1545 when it was dissolved as a "free chapel". After dissolution, the King granted the property to Thomas Turner, who converted the building into a barn. St James' chapel is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building and scheduled monument.

Kettlebaston is a village and a civil parish with just over 30 inhabitants in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England, located around 3 miles (5 km) east of Lavenham. From the 2011 Census the population of the village was not maintained and is included in the civil parish of Chelsworth. It derives its name from Kitelbeornastuna, (Kitelbjorn's farmstead - O.Scand. pers. name + O.E. Tun), later evolving to Kettlebarston, (which is how the name is still pronounced), and finally to the current spelling. Its existence was first recorded in 1086 in the Domesday Book.

Groton Wood is a 20.2-hectare (50-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-east of Groton in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust.Fifteen species of butterfly have been recorded in this wood, including brimstones, speckled woods and purple hairstreaks. There are many wild cherry trees, and twenty-two seasonal ponds, which have scarce and protected great crested newts.There is access from Howe Road.

Milden Thicks is a 42.3-hectare (105-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Great Waldingfield in Suffolk, England. It is in four separate blocks, Bulls Cross Wood, Hazel Wood and the adjoining Hall Wood, Walding Wood and Long Wood.These are diverse mature woods, described by Natural England as of national importance for the comparisons which can be made between them. There are several wild service trees, and the ground flora is rich and typical of ancient woodland.

The church of St Mary the Virgin is the parish church of Brent Eleigh, Suffolk, England. It is a Grade I listed building It was built around 1250.

Cosford was a hundred of Suffolk, consisting of 30,712 acres (124.29 km2).The hundred consisted of Hadleigh, the only town of any size, and seventeen other parishes in western Suffolk. The area is undulating and agriculturally-fertile with clay soil, watered by the River Brett and its tributary streams. It is about twelve miles (19 km) in length from north to south and around five wide, and is bounded by the Hundreds of Samford, Babergh, Thedwestry, Stow and Bosmere and Claydon. Cosford was in Coxford Union in the Liberty of St Edmund and in the Deanery and Archdeaconry of Sudbury. The area was until the nineteenth century part of the diocese of Norwich until it was moved to that of Ely. Hadleigh itself however is a peculiar of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Listed as Cursforde in the Domesday Book and subsequently known for a period as Corsford or Corsforth, the name Cosford means "ford of the river Cors or Corsa".

Brent Eleigh Woods is a 31.7-hectare (78-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-east of Lavenham in Suffolk.This site consists of three separate areas, Spragg's, Langley and Camps Woods. They are ancient woodland on calcareous clay soils. The main trees are oak and ash, and there are ponds and a stream.The woods are private land with no public access.

Brent Eleigh is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England. Located between Hadleigh and Lavenham, in 2005 it had a population of 180 reducing to 174 at the 2011 census. According to Eilert Ekwall the possible meaning of the village name is Ilega's meadow, which was burnt before 1254. The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, at which time it and neighbouring Monks Eleigh had a population of 61. The male population was 83, and female population was 91 according to the 2011 census.
