Brent Eleigh Woods

The church of St Mary the Virgin is the parish church of Brent Eleigh, Suffolk, England. It is a Grade I listed building It was built around 1250.

Brent Eleigh is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England. Located between Hadleigh and Lavenham, in 2005 it had a population of 180 reducing to 174 at the 2011 census. According to Eilert Ekwall the possible meaning of the village name is Ilega's meadow, which was burnt before 1254. The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, at which time it and neighbouring Monks Eleigh had a population of 61. The male population was 83, and female population was 91 according to the 2011 census.

Milden Castle was a motte-and-bailey castle on Foxburrow hill in Milden, a village in Suffolk, England. It was built in the 12th century, but today all that remains is the earth mound upon which it was constructed. The mound is a scheduled monument.

Originally built in the 14th century it suffered lightning damage in 1758, and was substantially restored by Arthur Blomfield in 1868. It is a Grade I listed building. The antiquarian Robert Ryece (1555–1638) is buried to the north side of the altar and his wife to the south.: 296

Milden Thicks is a 42.3-hectare (105-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Great Waldingfield in Suffolk, England. It is in four separate blocks, Bulls Cross Wood, Hazel Wood and the adjoining Hall Wood, Walding Wood and Long Wood.These are diverse mature woods, described by Natural England as of national importance for the comparisons which can be made between them. There are several wild service trees, and the ground flora is rich and typical of ancient woodland.

Little Waldingfield is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. Located two miles from its sister village, Great Waldingfield, it is part of the Babergh district, and includes the hamlet of Humble Green. In 2021 its population was 364. Around half the village is a designated conservation area, and the parish also contains part of the Milden Thicks SSSI and two of the sources of the River Box. Robert Branford, thought to be the first black Metropolitan Police officer, died in 1869 and is buried in the parish churchyard.

Lavenham Priory is a 13th-century Grade I listed building in Lavenham, Suffolk, England. Aubrey de Vere I was the Lord of the Manor, according to the Domesday Book of 1086. In the early 13th Century De Vere gifted the property to an Order of Benedictine Monks. It was a monastic house until probably the early part of the 15th Century, after which it was acquired by Roger Ruggles - who made a fortune from the cloth industry. It is rumoured that Henry VIII's Comptroller was dispatched to Lavenham (and specifically to Lavenham Priory) and fined the then owner the equivalent today of £1 million for "displaying too much ostentatious wealth". This may explain the Tudor pargeting on the front of the building. For the past 20 years Lavenham Priory has operated as a boutique guest house.
