St James' Chapel, Lindsey

Lindsey is a small village and a civil parish, located in mid-to-south Suffolk, under the purview of Babergh District Council.

Groton Wood is a 20.2-hectare (50-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-east of Groton in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust.Fifteen species of butterfly have been recorded in this wood, including brimstones, speckled woods and purple hairstreaks. There are many wild cherry trees, and twenty-two seasonal ponds, which have scarce and protected great crested newts.There is access from Howe Road.

Monks Eleigh is a village and a civil parish in Babergh, Suffolk, United Kingdom, situated on the tributary to the River Brett in a rural area. The parish contains the hamlets of Swingleton Green and Stackyard Green.

Kersey Priory was a priory in Kersey, Suffolk, England. It was founded before 1218 as a hospital dedicated St Mary the Blessed Virgin and St Anthony under rule of Austin Canons. It was dissolved in 1443 and the next year transferred to King's College, Cambridge. Kersey Priory is a scheduled monument. The house on the site called "The Priory" became a Grade II listed building on 23 January 1958, part of the priory kitchen is said to be incorporated in the house.

Chelsworth is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. It lies on the B1115 road, 10 miles in either direction from Sudbury and Stowmarket. It is part of Babergh district. The parish also contains the hamlet of Chelsworth Common. Built on the north bank of the River Brett, the entire village is classified as a conservation area, and contains numerous listed buildings. The Saxons called the area Ceorleswyrthe. Recorded in Domesday as "Cerleswrda". Also be listed historically as Cheilesworth.

Boxford is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England. Located around six miles east of Sudbury straddling the River Box and skirted by the Holbrook. The parish includes the hamlets of Calais Street, Hagmore Green and Stone Street. In 2021 the built-up area had a population of 833. In 2021 the parish had a population of 1403. The parish borders Assington, Edwardstone, Groton, Kersey, Newton and Polstead. There are 87 listed buildings in Boxford. Boxford became a conservation area in 1973.

Milden is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district, in Suffolk, England. Located around four and half miles from Sudbury. In 2021 the parish had a population of 118. The parish borders Brent Eleigh, Edwardstone, Groton, Lindsey, Little Waldingfield and Monks Eleigh. There are 18 listed buildings in Milden. St Peter's Church is a Grade I listed building.The parish contains the Milden Thicks SSSI and the remains of Milden Castle.

Kersey is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district in Suffolk, in the east of England. The main street has a ford across a stream. Its principal claim to fame is that a coarse woollen cloth called Kersey cloth takes its name from it. The cloth was presumably originally made there, but later in many other places too. The parish contains the village of Kersey and the hamlets of Kersey Tye, Kersey Upland, Wicker Street Green and William's Green. Kersey's church is St Mary's, and the village also contains a primary school. The population of the parish at the 2011 Census was 359.The village is known for its picturesque main street with medieval timber-framed houses and a ford of a tributary of the River Brett known locally as "The Splash".Kersey was the location of an alleged paranormal incident known as 'The Kersey Time Slip' where three Royal Navy cadets; William Laing, Michael Crowley and Ray Baker, are said to have travelled back in time when entering the village in 1957 on a training exercise. The village has been used as a filming location including for Lovejoy, Magpie Murders and the advert launching the Austin Metro.

Groton is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district, Suffolk, England, located around a mile north of the A1071 between Hadleigh and Sudbury. In 2021 the parish had a population of 299.The parish church dedicated to Saint Bartholomew is flint faced and has some 15th-century features; it was heavily restored in the 19th century. It is a Commonwealth War Grave site. The village has no shops but does have the pub the Fox and Hounds. In addition to Groton village, the parish contains the hamlets of Broad Street, Castling's Heath, Gosling Green, Horner's Green, and Parliament Heath. It is home to several Ancient Woodlands: the Groton Wood SSSI, the Mill Wood and Winding Wood nature reserves, and a section of Bull's Cross Wood (part of the Milden Thicks SSSI). Also found in the parish are a tributary to the River Box and Pitches Mount, the remaining earthworks of a wooden castle. The parish borders Boxford, Edwardstone, Kersey, Lindsey and Milden. There are 21 listed buildings in Groton.

Semer is a small village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. Located adjacent to a bridge over the River Brett on the B1115 between Hadleigh and Stowmarket, it is part of Babergh district. The parish also contains the hamlets of Ash Street and Drakestone Green. The parish was recorded in the 2011 census as having a population of 130, down from 158 in the previous census.

Cosford was a hundred of Suffolk, consisting of 30,712 acres (124.29 km2).The hundred consisted of Hadleigh, the only town of any size, and seventeen other parishes in western Suffolk. The area is undulating and agriculturally-fertile with clay soil, watered by the River Brett and its tributary streams. It is about twelve miles (19 km) in length from north to south and around five wide, and is bounded by the Hundreds of Samford, Babergh, Thedwestry, Stow and Bosmere and Claydon. Cosford was in Coxford Union in the Liberty of St Edmund and in the Deanery and Archdeaconry of Sudbury. The area was until the nineteenth century part of the diocese of Norwich until it was moved to that of Ely. Hadleigh itself however is a peculiar of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Listed as Cursforde in the Domesday Book and subsequently known for a period as Corsford or Corsforth, the name Cosford means "ford of the river Cors or Corsa".

Milden Castle was a motte-and-bailey castle on Foxburrow hill in Milden, a village in Suffolk, England. It was built in the 12th century, but today all that remains is the earth mound upon which it was constructed. The mound is a scheduled monument.
