Cortemaggiore

The Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie or Collegiata is a Gothic style, Roman Catholic church and cathedral of Cortemaggiore, in the Province of Piacenza, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The church was built in 1480 using designs by Gilberto Manzi for a Latin cross layout. The belltower (1881) was added by Gaetano Guglielmetti. The interior conserves a valued polyptych, composed by twelve pieces, by Filippo Mazzola, the father of Parmigianino. The left aisle has the sculpturally elegant mausoleum (1499) of the Pallavicini family, including Gianludovico and his wife. The works are attributed to the school of Amedeo. The chapel of the Rosary contains a canvas of Madonna, Child and st Louis Gonzaga by Pompeo Batoni, and a restored Pieta by Il Pordenone. In the crypt is a fresco depicting Christ emerging from the Tomb (1522) attributed to Antonietto de' Renzi.

The Chiesa dell'Annunziata is a late-Gothic style, Roman Catholic church just outside of Cortemaggiore, in the Province of Piacenza, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The church is dedicated to Virgin Mary of the Annunciation. The church and the adjacent Franciscan order convent were begun in 1487 and the site consecrated in 1492. By 1492, twenty Franciscan monks had begun living at the convent. The church has a layout with a central nave and two aisles. The nave was frescoed by Bernardo Zenale. Inside is the octagonal Chapel of the Pallavicino family. The burial relics were transferred in 1812 to a mausoleum in the Collegiata in the town. However, the painter Giovanni Antonio de Sacchis known as il Pordenone, was employed in 1529–1530 to fresco walls of the chapel. Pordenone also painted an altarpiece for the chapel, but this was moved by the Farnese to Naples, and the original is on display in the Capodimonte. Adjacent to the church is the former Franciscan convent. This was suppressed in 1805. In 1870, it was restored to the church and hosted a group of Padri Sacramentini, as well as a school and town library. On 29 August 2023 it was announced that the church would close for services due to the lack of Franciscan priests to accommodate services. The regional undersecretary of Culture plans to find a way to open the site to visitors.

Cadeo (Piacentino: La Cadé or Cadé) is a town and comune (municipality) in the province of Piacenza, in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) northwest of Bologna and about 14 kilometres (9 mi) southeast of Piacenza. It has about 5,600 inhabitants. The name is derived from Italian, meaning "House of God". This refers to a time when Cadeo was a stop-over for Christian pilgrims. The photo of the church accompanying this article is actually on the Via Emilia in Roveleto. Cadeo borders the following municipalities: Carpaneto Piacentino, Cortemaggiore, Fiorenzuola d'Arda, Pontenure. The Municipal Building for Cadeo is located in Roveleto, which is to the south-east on the Via Emilia. Roveleto is also the site of the closest railroad station to Cadeo.

Castelvetro Piacentino, also known as Castelvetro (Piacentino: Castelvédar; Cremonese: Castelvédar), is a town and comune (municipality) in the Province of Piacenza in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) northwest of Bologna and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) east of Piacenza.

The Nure (Latin Nura) is a small river in northern Italy (province of Piacenza). It has its source on the northern slopes of Mt. Nero, elevation 1,754 metres (5,755 ft) above sea level, and after a course of about 75 kilometres (47 mi)—the second longest of the province—flows into the Po River 10 kilometres (6 mi) east of Piacenza, in the vicinity of Roncarolo, a frazione of the commune of Caorso, on the border with the Lombard commune of Caselle Landi. The upper valley is somewhat influenced by the sea air, keeping it free of fog and strong winds, and therefore relatively pleasant even during the winter months. In this valley, there are 79 fortifications (castles, fortified towers and dwellings, etc.) The main villages along this river are: Ferriere, Bosconure, Cantoniera, Farini d'Olmo, Bettola, Ponte dell'Olio, Vigolzone, Grazzano Visconti, Podenzano. In addition to the main villages, other areas of the Val Nure (Valley of the Nure) are delineated by parishes, with churches located along the peaks of the mountains. One example is Cogno San Bassano, at the top of the mountain above Farini d'Olmo. In 1799 the French Auvergne Regiment was surrendered at this river during the Revolutionary Wars. This marked the end of the Battle of the Trebbia, in which Suvorov's Russian and Austrian troops won a complete victory.

The Arda is a torrent of Emilia-Romagna, Italy, nearly all of its course being within the province of Piacenza. It is a right tributary of the Po River. It rises at an elevation of 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) in the Ligurian Apennines on the north-west slopes of Monte Lama (near Monte Menegosa), within the commune of Morfasso. After about 15 kilometres (9 mi), at an elevation of 341 metres (1,119 ft), it is dammed to form the Lago di Mignano reservoir which covers about 2 square kilometres (0.77 mi2) and provides both a water supply and hydro-electric power. The stream then flows through Lugagnano Val d'Arda and Castell'Arquato before entering the plain where it passes through Fiorenzuola d'Arda and Cortemaggiore. Before entering the Po, near Polesine Parmense, it is joined on the right by another torrent, the Ongina, whose source is in the Piacenza hills, between Alseno and Castell'Arquato. The Arda follows the typical pattern of an Apennine torrent with maximum discharges during the spring and autumn rains and a minimal flow during the summer.

Pontenure (Piacentino: Pontnür [poŋtˈnyːr]) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Piacenza in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 140 kilometres (87 mi) northwest of Bologna and about 9 kilometres (6 mi) southeast of Piacenza. Pontenure borders the following municipalities: Cadeo, Caorso, Carpaneto Piacentino, Cortemaggiore, Piacenza, Podenzano, San Giorgio Piacentino.

The Teatro Amilcare Ponchielli is an opera house located in Cremona, Italy. For more than 250 years it has been that city's primary venue for opera and other theatrical presentations. The original theatre, built in 1747, was named the Teatro Nazari, but it was renamed as the Teatro della Società in 1785. It was sometimes referred to as the Nobile Associazione. After the original theatre burned down in 1806, construction began on the present theatre soon after. The current theatre was designed by Luigi Canonica and it opened in 1808 under the name the Teatro della Concordia. Its name was changed again to the Teatro Ponchielli in 1907 after the famous native of Cremona, Amilcare Ponchielli. In 1986 the theatre was purchased by the city of Cremona which renamed it once again as it is known today. The opening performance took place on 4 October and featured performances on the city-owned Stradivarius "Il Cremonese" and Guarneri "del Gesu" violins of 1715 and 1734 respectively. With its original horseshoe-shaped auditorium, the theatre was remodeled in 1989 to create three box tiers and two galleries with a total of 1,249 seats.

The Cremona Courthouse (Palazzo di Giustizia) is a building located on Via dei Tribunali in Cremona, Italy. Dating back to the late 18th century, it was known as Palazzo Silva-Persichelli and currently houses the Court, the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the judicial offices of Cremona.
