The tram accident at Vasaplatsen in Gothenburg, Sweden, occurred on 12 March 1992, when a tram with non-functional brakes rolled 1.5 kilometres (0.9 mi) downhill, travelling backwards against traffic along Guldhedsgatan and Aschebergsgatan. Reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h (62 mph), it ploughed sideways across the Vasaplatsen tram platform, crushing over fifthy waiting commuters as well as two cars and their passengers on a parallel road. The accident remains the deadliest in the history of Gothenburg’s tramway, killing thirteen people and injuring forthy-two.

Vasaplatsen is a triangular public square in the district of Vasastaden in Gothenburg, Sweden. Since two tram lines crosses here, there are four combined tram and bus stops on the square close by each other that all go under the name Vasaplatsen. All public trams and buses in Gothenburg are operated by Västtrafik. In 1992, 13 people lost their lives and around 30 people were injured when a driverless tram came down the hill from Kapellplatsen and collided with another tram at Vasaplatsen.

Vasastan is a district in central Gothenburg, Sweden. While nearby Haga was a suburb for the working class with wooden houses, Vasastan was built in stone in neo-renaissance and baroque style for the wealthy middle class. Vasastan was built in the latter half of the 19th century when the city expanded outside the city walls.

Mölndal Municipality (Mölndals kommun or Mölndals stad) is a municipality in Västra Götaland in western Sweden, just south of Gothenburg. Its seat is located in Mölndal, which lies within the Gothenburg urban area, and the whole municipality is part of Metropolitan Gothenburg. In 1911 a municipalsamhälle (a kind of borough within a rural municipality, handling matters of urban character) named Mölndal was instituted in the municipality of Fässberg. In 1922 Fässberg was made the City of Mölndal. In 1971 it was amalgamated with Kållered and Lindome (the latter transferred from Halland County). At the same time it became a municipality of unitary type, like all others in the country. The municipality prefers, however, to style itself Mölndals stad (City of Mölndal) as a semi-official name whenever legally possible. This usage has no effect on the status of the municipality.

Vasaparken is a park in Vasastaden, Gothenburg, Sweden. The University of Gothenburg's main building is located on the northern part of the park.

The University of Gothenburg (Swedish: Göteborgs universitet) is a university in Sweden's second largest city, Gothenburg. Founded in 1891, the university is the third-oldest of the current Swedish universities and, with 37,000 students and 6,000 staff members, it is one of the largest universities in the Nordic countries.

Kungsparken (Swedish for King's park), originally Kungsportsparken, is a 13-hectare park behind Stora Teatern in Gothenburg, which encloses most of Nya Allén walkway, and constitutes a so-called park district. Kungsparken was built in several stages between 1839 and 1861. In the 1940s and 1950s, the park was a meeting place for the city's homosexual men.

Sigird Rudebecks Gymnasium, often called Rudebecks, is a private high school that was founded 1869 by reform educator, Sigrid Rudebeck. It is along with Göteborgs Högre Samskola, one of Gothenburg's most esteemed high schools with high academic results. The school is located in central Gothenburg, on Bellmansgatan in Vasastaden, Sweden. The school has approximately 450 students.

The Vasa Church (Swedish: Vasakyrkan) is a church in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is located in the area of Vasastaden, between Hvitfeldtska gymnasiet and Vasaparken. It was founded in 1909 and is built in a Neo-Romanesque style, of granite that was brought from Bohuslän. It underwent major renovations during 1999 and 2000.

Valand Academy (Swedish: Akademin Valand) is a school for film, photography, literary composition, and fine art at the University of Gothenburg in Gothenburg, Sweden. It was formed in 2012 through the merger of three formerly independent schools/departments at the University of Gothenburg. Valand Academy can trace its roots back to the year 1865, and is older than the University of Gothenburg (founded 1891).

French School in Gothenburg (Swedish: Franska skolan Göteborg or French: L'école Francais de Göteborg) was founded in 1992 in Gothenburg by Medborgarskolan. The reason was the influx of families from France, after a collaboration between the automobile manufactures Volvo and Renault started. The school is located in the district of Landala. The school offers classes from kindergarten to ninth grade. And the premises are situated in Viktor Rydbergsgatan and Landalagången. School profile is French. It does not mean that all the lessons are in French but that the students have French lessons from their first class. The school's headmistress is called Ellenore Sinclair. The school offers CNED. The Röhsska Museum (Swedish: Röhsska museet, earlier named Röhsska konstslöjdsmuseet, also known as Design Museum), is located in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is a museum focused on design, fashion and applied arts. The museum collection consists of over 50,000 objects. The majority of the collection consists of handicraft and design products from Sweden and Europe and arts and crafts from Japan and China. The museum also holds a very fine collection of fashion from the 20th and 21st centuries, including many haute couture garments from Paris and other famous fashion designs from all over the world. Today, the Röhsska Museum mainly collects contemporaneous material and the museum seeks to achieve a dialogue with its users on contemporary phenomena and expression.
