Moresby Island (Gulf Islands)

Brethour Island is a small island in the southern Gulf Islands, located in the Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland in British Columbia, Canada. It is approximately 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of Moresby Island. The island, located northeast of Sidney, was named after a pioneer family who owned the present-day site of Sidney around 1873.

Portland Island is an island of the Southern Gulf Islands of the South Coast of British Columbia, Canada. It is located in the Salish Sea west of Moresby Island and off the south tip of Saltspring Island, adjacent to the main BC Ferries route just offshore from the terminal at Swartz Bay at the tip of the Saanich Peninsula. It was named after HMS Portland, the flagship of Rear-Admiral Fairfax Moresby, Commander in Chief of the Pacific Station 1850–1853.: 214 Portland Island is separated from North Pender Island to the northeast by Swanson Passage, Moresby Island by Moresby Passage to the east, Piers Island and Coal Island to the southeast by Shute Passage, and Saltspring Island to the west and north by Satellite Channel. Portland Island was given to Princess Margaret in 1958 to commemorate her visit to the province. Princess Margaret returned the island to British Columbia in 1967, following which it became a provincial park. Today, Portland Island is a part of Gulf Islands National Park Reserve (GINPR).

HMCS Mackenzie was a Mackenzie-class destroyer that served in the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and later the Canadian Forces. She was the lead ship of her class and is the first Canadian naval unit to carry this name. The ship was named for the Mackenzie River, the largest river system in Canada and runs primarily through the Northwest Territories.Entering service in 1962, Mackenzie served until 1993, mainly as a training ship. She was sold for use as an artificial reef in 1995 and sunk as such the same year off the coast of British Columbia.

The Pender Island Invitational (PII) is a long-running fall disc golf competition on Pender Island, British Columbia, Canada where players compete over four days in the pursuit of The Bark, and $10 Ace-Pots. The PII is typically played in October, typically between Thanksgiving (Canada) and Halloween.

Port Browning, British Columbia, Canada is formed between North and South Pender Islands in the British Columbia Gulf Islands. There is a government dock and commercial marina at the head of the inlet. From Port Browning, Pender Canal leads to Bedwell Harbour. Port Browning also leads eastward to Plumper Sound.

Bedwell Harbour is a harbour between South Pender Island and North Pender Island in British Columbia. Bedwell Harbour is close to the Canada–US border in Boundary Pass, and it is an official port of entry for sailors from the United States. Little Shell Island is a small island 2 km east of Sidney, British Columbia, Canada. It is part of the Gulf Islands. The island is approximately 1 acre (0.4 hectares) in size. It is part of the Little Group of islands near Sidney and has a rich variety of wildlife. It is named after its beach, which is composed of broken seashells. In 2021, it was put up for sale for $1.1 million.

Ruckle Provincial Park is a provincial park on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada. It has the largest provincial campground on the Gulf Islands. Partly protected by the park is a historic sheep farm founded by the Ruckle family.

The Turn Point Light Station is an active aid to navigation overlooking Haro Strait from the western tip of Stuart Island, San Juan County, Washington, in the northwest of the United States. The light marks a sharp turn in the shipping lanes at the transition between Haro Strait and Boundary Pass.

Skull Islet is a small islet just off the shore of South Pender Island in British Columbia. It is on the east side of Bedwell Harbour. Skull Islet is part of Gulf Islands National Park Reserve and is Authorized Access Only.

Saanich North and the Islands is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. It is located in the northern suburbs of the provincial capital, Victoria, and includes the southern Gulf Islands. Saanich North and the Islands was created by 1990 legislation dividing the previous two-member district of Saanich and the Islands which came into effect for the 1991 B.C. election. In 2017 Adam Olsen was elected MLA for the Green Party of BC and in 2020 Olsen defeated NDP Zeb King.

Saanich—Gulf Islands is a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1988. It is named for its geographical location across the Gulf Islands and Saanich Peninsula in the Vancouver Island region.
