The airport is classified as an airport of entry by Nav Canada and is staffed by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) on a call-out basis from the Victoria International Airport. CBSA officers at this airport can handle general aviation aircraft only, with no more than 15 passengers.

Plumper Sound is a sound in the Southern Gulf Islands region of British Columbia, Canada, located between Saturna Island (E) and North and South Pender Islands. It is named for HMS Plumper, the survey ship of the Royal Navy engaged in charting the coastal waters of British Columbia in the colonial period. Plumper Sound should not be confused with Plumper Cove, a small cove that is home to the Plumper Cove Marine Provincial Park on Keats Island, also named after HMS Plumper.

The PII is typically played in October, typically between Thanksgiving (Canada) and Halloween.

It operates three days a week, with students sleeping over on Saturna during the week. The education style at SEEC is very different from that of a conventional school, although it does adhere to the provincially required learning outcomes. Its name is commonly shortened to "SEEC."
