Thornton State Beach is a protected beach in the state park system of California, United States. It is located on the Pacific coast of Daly City in the San Francisco Bay Area. The 58-acre (23 ha) park was established in 1955.The Mediterranean climate tends toward cold and wind, with fog common in summer.The beach was named for the first white settler of the area, one Robert S. Thornton of Rhode Island, a blacksmith who had arrived in the San Francisco area in 1851. The park was closed in 2009 due to damage and continued danger from landslides, but as of late 2021 is fully open.

The Jefferson Union High School District (JUHSD) is a high school district in northern San Mateo County, California which serves the cities of Daly City, Brisbane, Pacifica, and the town of Colma. Its district office is located at the former site of Serramonte High School. It serves as a secondary education district for students coming from the Jefferson Elementary School District, Bayshore School District, Brisbane School District and the Pacifica School District.

Westmoor High School is a public high school in Daly City, California, United States. It serves grades 9 through 12 as part of the Jefferson Union High School District (JUHSD). It generally serves the residents of Daly City, Pacifica, and Colma. It was recently selected as a California Distinguished School.

Seton Medical Center (originally Mary's Help Hospital) is a 357-bed hospital owned by AHMC Healthcare. Founded in San Francisco, the current facility is located in Daly City, California, United States. It is the largest employer in Daly City and is credited in part with attracting the initial influx of Filipino immigrants to the city, which has the highest concentration of Filipinos in the U.S.Seton also operates Seton Coastside, a 116-bed skilled nursing facility with a 24-hour standby emergency department in Moss Beach.

Serramonte Mall is a 1,139,906 sq ft (105,900.7 m2). super-regional shopping mall located in Daly City, California. The mall is anchored by Macy's, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Target. The mall is owned by Capital & Counties and is managed by Jones Lang LaSalle.

Serramonte is a large 1960s residential neighborhood developed by Fred and Carl Gellert and was one of the largest construction jobs in Northern California at the time. This region of Daly City located near Colma which was a former ranch of 900 acres south of San Francisco, California, is also home to numerous shopping malls, strip malls, and big box retailers. When it was still being constructed at the time, locals resembled it to the adjacent Westlake Neighborhood which was developed by Henry Doelger as it made a huge impact in the city as it was like building a city within one. Serramonte is also home to thousands of Filipinos; once known as Serra-Manila. The nexus of Serramonte is Serramonte Center, originally opened in 1968, near the intersection of State Route 1 and Interstate 280, in the triangle formed by Callan Boulevard, Serramonte Boulevard, and Junipero Serra Boulevard which originally opened in 1968.

Oceana High School is a small public high school in northern Pacifica, California. Offering an alternative college preparatory program, the school serves just over 600 students in grades nine through twelve. The school is one of five public schools in the Jefferson Union High School District. According to the State of California, Oceana is one of the twenty-five most diverse high schools in the state.

Congregation B'nai Israel is the only Karaite synagogue in the United States. It is located in Daly City, California. Malcolm Cohen served here for 19 years.

Broadmoor is a census-designated place (CDP) in an unincorporated area of San Mateo County, California, United States. The enclave is entirely surrounded by Daly City. The population was 4,176 at the 2010 census.

The Junipero Serra Landfill was a solid waste disposal site in Colma, California, United States. The site was closed in 1983 and ultimately developed by commercial land uses, collectively known as the Metro Center. The original commercial use built on the closed landfill site was a Home Depot Inc.retail store and parking lot constructed over 1,348 piles, each driven approximately 160 ft (49 m) deep into the landfill (Bay Area Rapid Transit District, 2006). The site also required the engineering of a landfill gas control system, since, when organic solid waste aerobically decomposes, it produces methane gas, which is explosive and toxic in large concentrations. SCS Engineers was presented an award by the Solid Waste Association of North America for the design of the closure methane capture system at this landfill. (SCS Engineers, 2002). The Junipero Serra Landfill is situated on the San Francisco Peninsula in the eastern foothills of the northwest trending Santa Cruz Mountain Range. The foothills and eastern flanks of the range are composed largely of poorly consolidated Pliocene-Quaternary freshwater and shallow marine sediments that include the Colma and Merced Formations. (Earth Metrics, 1989) (Hart, 1985) The Junipero Serra Landfill began operations in the year 1956 and accepted primarily commercial solid wastes.

Milagra Ridge is a 275-acre (111 ha) open space park that is an isolated island ecosystem, located about 7 miles (11 km) south of San Francisco, between the cities of Pacifica and Daly City. It was first inhabited by the Ohlone indigenous people, and was later claimed by Spanish settlers and Mexican ranchers.
