The Jefferson Union High School District (JUHSD) is a high school district in northern San Mateo County, California which serves the cities of Daly City, Brisbane, Pacifica, and the town of Colma. Its district office is located at the former site of Serramonte High School. It serves as a secondary education district for students coming from the Jefferson Elementary School District, Bayshore School District, Brisbane School District and the Pacifica School District.

The Junipero Serra Landfill was a solid waste disposal site in Colma, California, United States. The site was closed in 1983 and ultimately developed by commercial land uses, collectively known as the Metro Center. The original commercial use built on the closed landfill site was a Home Depot Inc.retail store and parking lot constructed over 1,348 piles, each driven approximately 160 ft (49 m) deep into the landfill (Bay Area Rapid Transit District, 2006). The site also required the engineering of a landfill gas control system, since, when organic solid waste aerobically decomposes, it produces methane gas, which is explosive and toxic in large concentrations. SCS Engineers was presented an award by the Solid Waste Association of North America for the design of the closure methane capture system at this landfill. (SCS Engineers, 2002). The Junipero Serra Landfill is situated on the San Francisco Peninsula in the eastern foothills of the northwest trending Santa Cruz Mountain Range. The foothills and eastern flanks of the range are composed largely of poorly consolidated Pliocene-Quaternary freshwater and shallow marine sediments that include the Colma and Merced Formations. (Earth Metrics, 1989) (Hart, 1985) The Junipero Serra Landfill began operations in the year 1956 and accepted primarily commercial solid wastes.

Greenlawn Memorial Park, also known as the Odd Fellows Cemetery, is a private cemetery located at 1100 El Camino Real in Colma, California, United States. It was established in 1904. In 1933, after ongoing city litigation the Odd Fellows Cemetery in San Francisco, part of the Lone Mountain Cemetery complex, reinterred some 26,000 graves to Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, also known as the Masonic Burial Ground, is located at 1000 El Camino Real in Colma, California, and was established in 1905. The remains of the former Masonic Cemetery (1864–1901) in San Francisco, approximately 19,900 bodies were moved to this cemetery.

Alice Brown Chittenden (October 14, 1859 – October 13, 1944) was an American painter based in San Francisco, California who specialized in flowers, portraits, and landscapes. Her life's work was a collection of botanicals depicting California wildflowers, for which she is renowned and received gold and silver medals at expositions. She taught at the Mark Hopkins Institute of Art (now the San Francisco Art Institute) from 1897 to 1941.

It is the final resting site for several members of the celebrated Hearst family plus other prominent citizens from the greater San Francisco area. The Jewish Community Memory Garden is the first Jewish sacred space in the United States dedicated to expressing grief over infertility, pregnancy loss due to miscarriage or abortion, or stillbirth or death of a newborn. Judaism has a complex definition of the beginning of life, and does not have a traditional ritual for mourning fetuses or newborns prior to the age of thirty days. The Memory Garden builds on existing traditions, following halakah (Jewish law), and acknowledges the need of expectant parents and other family members across all streams of Jewish practice to recognize the emotional toll these losses take.The Jewish Community Memory Garden is located in Colma, California, USA on the grounds of the Sinai Memorial Chapel Jewish funeral home's Eternal Home Cemetery, one of the few Jewish cemeteries serving the city of San Francisco and the nearby San Francisco Peninsula. The Memory Garden was founded by Abby Porth and Debbie Findling, two Jewish women who experienced fertility losses.

The Italian Cemetery was founded in 1899 and is located at 540 F Street in Colma, California, initially serving the Italian community of the San Francisco Bay Area.
