Royal Air Force Bempton or more simply RAF Bempton is a former Royal Air Force station situated at Bempton in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, 6 miles (10 km) north of Bridlington. During the Second World War it was established as a radar station, becoming part of the Chain Home Low (CHL) network.

Bempton Cliffs is a section of precipitous coast at Bempton in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is run by the RSPB as a nature reserve and is known for its breeding seabirds, including northern gannet, Atlantic puffin, razorbill, common guillemot, black-legged kittiwake and fulmar. There is a visitor centre.

Bempton is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, near the border with North Yorkshire. It is near the North Sea coast and Flamborough Head, and is situated about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Bridlington. It lies on the B1229 road between Speeton and Flamborough. It is served by Bempton railway station which is on the Yorkshire Coast Line that runs between Hull and Scarborough. The parish of Bempton also contains Buckton village, which is situated directly next to Bempton. According to the 2011 UK census, Bempton parish had a population of 1,040, a slight decrease on the 2001 UK census figure of 1,050.

Buckton is a small village, which is part of the civil parish of Bempton in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is near the North Sea coast, and about 4 miles (6 km) north of Bridlington. It lies on the B1229 road.The village is adjacent to Bempton, and shares the same local services. To the west of the village is Buckton Hall, a grade II* listed building with large cellars. The hall had a tunnel which connected with the bottom of the cliffs which allowed for smuggling activities and as late as 1931, a hoist for hauling contraband, was still in the kitchen.Buckton is a good place to find migrant birds, along Hoddy Cows Lane which runs from Buckton Cliffs to the north of the village. The cliffs at Buckton form part of the 5-mile (8 km) coastal region between Speeton and Bempton that is noted for its chalk face and its seabird habitats. This is administered by the RSPB as part of Bempton Cliffs. Up until 1954, tenant farmers from Buckton and Bempton used to climb down the cliffs and collect bird's eggs, a practice known locally as "Climming".

Bempton railway station serves the village of Bempton in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is located on the Yorkshire Coast Line and is operated by Northern who provide all passenger train services. It is located on the single track section between Hunmanby and Bridlington and is the nearest railway station to the RSPB nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs (1.5 miles (2.4 km) away to the east). The station formerly had two platforms and a signal box (which supervised the now automated level crossing here), but the second platform has been disused since the Bridlington to Hunmanby section was singled in 1969. Goods sidings and weighbridge were located immediately north of the station.

Flamborough railway station was located in the village of Marton, and was originally named after that location. However, there were several other railway stations also called Marton, so on 1 July 1884 the North Eastern Railway renamed it after the village of Flamborough several miles away. It was situated on the Yorkshire Coast Line from Scarborough to Hull and was opened on 20 October 1847 by the York and North Midland Railway. The station was 33 miles (53 km) north of Hull, and 17 miles (27 km) south of Seamer railway station.

Sewerby Hall (also known as Sewerby House) is a Grade I listed Georgian country house set in 50 acres (20 ha) of landscaped gardens in the village of Sewerby, 2 miles (3.2 km) from the seaside town of Bridlington in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The main block was built circa 1714, incorporating some older work, in 3 storeys in brick with a seven window frontage. In 1808, 2-storey bow fronted wings and a semi-circular Doric portico were added and the whole building painted to resemble stone. The wings were later raised to 3 storeys.

Sewerby is a village in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) north-east of Bridlington on the North Sea coast. Sewerby forms part of the civil parish of Bridlington. Sewerby is home to one of the East Riding's most popular tourist attractions, Sewerby Hall. The hall is a Grade I listed building and is home to the Museum of East Yorkshire, including a room dedicated to the aviator, Amy Johnson. The church dedicated to St John the Evangelist was designated a Grade II* listed building in 1976 and is now recorded in the National Heritage List for England, maintained by Historic England.

Headlands School is a coeducational comprehensive school situated on Sewerby Road near the B1255, Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The school has 886 pupils aged 11–18.Headlands is one of two secondary schools in Bridlington, the other being Bridlington School, further south in the town. Headlands draws pupils the Bridlington area and surrounding villages such as Flamborough and Bempton.

The Speeton Clay Formation (SpC) is a Lower Cretaceous geological formation in Yorkshire, northern England. Unlike the contemporaneous terrestrial Wealden Group to the south, the Speeton Clay was deposited in marine conditions. The most common fossils in the unit are belemnites, followed by ammonites and the lobster Meyeria ornata. Dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from the formation, although none have yet been referred to a specific genus.The formation is named after the village of Speeton in North Yorkshire.

The Battle of Flamborough Head was a naval battle that took place on 23 September 1779 in the North Sea off the coast of Yorkshire between a combined Franco-American squadron, led by Continental Navy officer John Paul Jones, and two British escort vessels protecting a large merchant convoy. It became one of the most celebrated naval actions of the war in America, despite its relatively small size and a considerable dispute over what had actually occurred.

Flamborough is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) north-east of Bridlington town centre on the prominent coastal feature of Flamborough Head. The most prominent man-made feature of the area is Flamborough Head Lighthouse. The headland extends into the North Sea by approximately 6 miles (10 km). According to the 2011 UK Census, Flamborough parish had a population of 2,161, an increase on the 2001 UK Census figure of 2,121.The church of St Oswald stands in the village and was designated a Grade II* listed building in 1966 and is now recorded in the National Heritage List for England, maintained by Historic England. The village centre contains a number of shops and public houses. The Old Dog and Duck is at Dog and Duck Square. In the village are the fragmentary remains of Flamborough Castle, a medieval fortified manor house. In 1823 the village was a parish in the Wapentake of Dickering. Flamborough was recorded as "merely a fishing village" with a "very ancient station, formerly of some note". The population at the time was 917, half of which constituted the families of fishermen. Occupations included eleven farmers, two blacksmiths, two butchers, two grocers, seven carpenters, four shoemakers, three tailors, a stonemason & flour dealer, a bacon & flour dealer, a weaver, a corn miller, a straw hat manufacturer, and the landlords of the Sloop, the Board and the Dog and Duck public houses. Also listed was a schoolmaster and a gentlewoman. Four carriers operated in the village, destinations being Hull and York twice a week, and Bridlington, daily. With St Oswald's Church was a Methodist and a Primitive Methodist chapel.Between 1894 and 1974 Flamborough was a part of the Bridlington Rural District, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Between 1974 and 1996 it was part of the Borough of North Wolds (later Borough of East Yorkshire), in the county of Humberside. According to local legend, the village is haunted by the ghost of a suicide known as Jenny Gallows. Flamborough, with its holiday camps and a caravan park, is a holiday destination during the summer months. The village holds an annual Fire Festival on New Year's Eve which in 2017 attracted 5,000 people.In 2018 the beach at Flamborough was used in the filming of the ITV drama Victoria.
