Plodder Lane railway station served the southern part of Bolton and the western, Highfield, part of Farnworth. The station was located on the southern side of a bridge carrying Plodder Lane, the present B6199. The wooden station building was at road level with steps down to both platforms.Plodder Lane station was on the London and North Western Railway route between Bolton Great Moor Street and Manchester Exchange.

On 1 March 2017 the school converted into an Academy along with Rivington and Blackrod High School. The school is part of Leverhulme Academy Trust. Built around a central quad, it became comprehensive in 1982. The school is housed in a mixture of traditional and modern buildings where there are facilities for a wide range of activities and interests. The accommodation facilities include 23 general classrooms, two music rooms, recording studio, theatre, eight ICT rooms, two dance studios, 11 science laboratories and three art and design workshops including specialist facilities for ceramics, printmaking and ICT. The sports facilities include indoor and outdoor tennis courts, large sports hall and gymnasium and extensive playing fields including Astroturf, soccer and hockey pitch. It also runs groups after-school studying dance and examination coursework.The school houses the Alan Ball Sports Hall, as well as the Peter Kay Theatre. In 2006, Peter Kay filmed a music video at Harper Green with the Scottish band Texas.

Century Mill, Farnworth is a former cotton spinning mill in Farnworth, Bolton, Greater Manchester, England which was built in the early 20th century for ring spinning. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964. The 6,674.00-square-metre (71,838.3 sq ft) building is still in use for various other purposes in 2016.

Burnden is a district in the town of Bolton in Greater Manchester, England. It is located about 1 mile (2 km) southeast of Bolton town centre. Historically a part of Lancashire, Burnden derives its name from two Old English words. The first part "burn" means a stream or a brook and is more popularly used in the Scottish Lowlands. The second part "dene" or "denu" means a valley. Combined, they mean a brook flowing through a valley. Burnden Brook was a small tributary of the River Croal, but has since been culverted and now runs beneath Manchester Road.In the late 18th century, Burnden was the site of the Burnden Poorhouse which was used by many townships of the parishes of Bolton le Moors and Deane to house their paupers.For just over a hundred years Burnden was the site of Burnden Park, the home of Bolton Wanderers. The area was described as a ghost town after the stadium, the Normid superstore and the greyhound track closed in quick succession in the late 1990s.

The retailer sells savouries, sandwiches and bakery products across over 150 stores, from Fleetwood in Lancashire down to Wrexham in Wales. Sayers remained a family run business until 1977 when it was sold to United Biscuits, and then again to Warburtons in July 1990.

Raikes Park Greyhound Stadium, also known as Bolton Greyhound Stadium, was a greyhound racing track in Bolton, Greater Manchester in north-west England. It is not to be confused with the Westhoughton Greyhound Track, which was another track in nearby Westhoughton.
