Rahugh (civil parish)

Rahugh or Ráith Aeda Meic Bric is an early Christian site founded by Áed mac Bricc (also referred to as Saint Hugh of Rahugh) in the 6th century, inside a ráth or ringfort. The site, located about 8 km north of Tullamore along the L1024. Rahugh consists of one pub (The Hazel Bar and Lounge), a Catholic church, local community centre, a primary school and several small -medium-sized enterprises such as Dunnes Workshop and Scally Precast. Rahugh also contains the remains of an ancient Christian monastery site and graveyard, a holy well and a so-called headache stone. Newtown (Irish: An Baile Nua) is a civil parish in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is located about 16.02 kilometres (10 mi) south of Mullingar. Newtown is one of eight civil parishes in the barony of Moycashel in the Province of Leinster. The civil parish covers 10,248.8 acres (41.475 km2). Cloncrow Bog (New Forest) is a peat bog in County Westmeath, Ireland. The bog is near the village of Tyrrellspass on the R446 regional road. As a raised bog of ecological interest, it was declared a Natural Heritage Area in 2005.

Tyrrellspass Castle is a medieval castle in Tyrrellspass, County Westmeath, Ireland. Dating back to circa 1411, it is the only remaining castle of the Tyrrells who came to Ireland around the time of the Norman Invasion.

Tyrrellspass (Irish: Bealach an Tirialaigh, IPA:[ˈbʲaləxˈanˠˈtʲɪɾʲiəliː]) is a Georgian village in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is 81 kilometres (50 mi) from Dublin, in the south of the county on the R446 (formerly the N6) road. Tyrrellspass won the Irish Tidy Towns Competition in 1969. As of the census in April 2016, the population of Tyrrellspass was 483.

Raheenmore Bog is a raised bog north-west of Daingean, County Offaly, in Ireland. Since the 1980s the greater part of the bog has been maintained as a 162 hectare Nature Reserve, which is currently managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. A Special Area of Conservation covers 182 ha, including some land in private ownership.

Meedin (Irish: Mídín), also Meedian, is a village and townland in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is located in the south of the county on the N52 road, to the north of Tyrrellspass and Rochfortbridge and to the south of Mullingar. The village contains a 19th-century church, dating back to 1831, dedicated to the Sacred Heart.

Clonfad is one of 10 civil parishes in the barony of Fartullagh in the Province of Leinster. The civil parish covers 4,576.7 acres (18.521 km2). Clonfad civil parish comprises 11 townlands: Calverstown, Clonfad, Dalystown, Davidstown/Guilford, Friarstown, Meedin, Newcastle, Rathnure, Templeoran North, Templeoran South and Tyrrellspass. Neighbouring civil parishes are: Carrick to the north, Castlelost to the east, Newtown to the south and Castletownkindalen to the west.

The Tullamore transmitter was an AM radio transmission mast located near Tullamore, Ireland. Built in 1975 to replace the Athlone transmitter, it always carried RTÉ Radio 1 on 567 kHz, at 500 kW. The old Athlone mast was used to carry RTÉ 2fm, and was later decommissioned. The Tullamore transmitter was demolished in 2023. It was taken offline for a time in 2004 for major maintenance, with the Clarkstown transmitter in County Meath taking over Tullamore's AM broadcast. Tullamore ceased analogue broadcasts permanently on 24 March 2008, as the Clarkstown longwave transmitter provides improved coverage of the United Kingdom at the same transmission power. The antenna, a 290-metre (952') tall guyed mast, was the tallest structure in Ireland. It was demolished on 25 July 2023. For a time RTÉ Radio broadcast a second signal from the Tullamore site, on 252 kHz longwave, before the setting up of Radio Tara and the building of the Clarkstown mast, to which the frequency was allocated.

It is contiguous with the remainder of the Durrow civil parish, which is in County Offaly.
