Farthingstown is a townland in County Westmeath, Ireland. The townland is located on the border with County Offaly and is in the civil parish of Castlelost. The M6 Motorway runs through the middle, with a junction linking up with the R400 regional road. The Monagh River flows through the south of the area. The town of Rochfortbridge is to the north.

The townland, which is approximately 1.3 square kilometres (0.5 sq mi) in area, is located on the border with County Offaly and is in the civil parish of Castlelost. As of 2011, the townland had a population of 19 people.

Tyrrellspass (Irish: Bealach an Tirialaigh, IPA:[ˈbʲaləxˈanˠˈtʲɪɾʲiəliː]) is a Georgian village in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is 81 kilometres (50 mi) from Dublin, in the south of the county on the R446 (formerly the N6) road. Tyrrellspass won the Irish Tidy Towns Competition in 1969. As of the census in April 2016, the population of Tyrrellspass was 483.

Tyrrellspass Castle is a medieval castle in Tyrrellspass, County Westmeath, Ireland. Dating back to circa 1411, it is the only remaining castle of the Tyrrells who came to Ireland around the time of the Norman Invasion.

Croghan Hill (Irish: Cnoc Cruacháin or Brí Éile) is a hill with a height of 234 metres (768 ft) in County Offaly, Ireland. The remains of an extinct volcano, it rises from the Bog of Allen and dominates the surrounding plains. Historically known as Brí Éile, it is mentioned in Irish mythology and is traditionally seen as a sacred hill. On the summit is an ancient pagan burial mound with panoramic views, which reputedly became the inauguration site of the kings of Uí Failghe. On the eastern slope is an old graveyard and the remains of a medieval church, while at the western foot of the hill is the remains of a medieval settlement, church and castle. An ancient bog body, Old Croghan Man, was found nearby. The village of Croghan is at the southern foot of the hill.

Ballycommon is a parish and village in County Offaly, Ireland. It is located 10 km east of Tullamore.

Rahugh (Irish: Ráth Aodha) is a civil parish in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) south–south–west of Mullingar. Rahugh is one of 8 civil parishes in the barony of Moycashel in the Province of Leinster. The civil parish covers 4,987.5 acres (20.184 km2). Rahugh civil parish comprises 12 townlands: Ardan, Atticonor, Cappanrush, Garryduff, Kiltober, Lowertown, Monasset, Montrath, Pallasboy, Rahugh, Rossbeg and Sonnagh. The neighbouring civil parishes are: Newtown to the north, Kilclonfert (County Offaly) to the east, Ballycommon (County Offaly) to the south and Durrow and Kilbeggan to the west. The local GAA team for the residents of Rahugh is Tyrrellspass, a neighbouring village.

Newtown (Irish: An Baile Nua) is a civil parish in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is located about 16.02 kilometres (10 mi) south of Mullingar. Newtown is one of eight civil parishes in the barony of Moycashel in the Province of Leinster. The civil parish covers 10,248.8 acres (41.475 km2). Newtown civil parish comprises three population centres – Ballynagore; Killavally; and Tyrrellspass (barony of Fartullagh) – and 24 townlands: Aghanamanagh aka Commeenlonagh; Aghyrassy; Ardmorney; Ballykilmore; Ballymachugh; Cloncrow; Cloncullen; Clonyhague; Cornaher; Cumminstown, Cumminstown; Garryduff, Garryduff; Higginstown, Higginstown; Kilcloghan; Killavally; Knockmore; Knockycosker; Loughanlewnaght; Newtownlow; Rahinashene and Spittaltown; Rahinashurock; Rahincuill; Rahinmore; Rathgarrett; and Torque. The townlands of Ballykilmore, Rahincuill and Rathgarrett are in the barony of Fartullagh. The neighbouring civil parishes are: Castlelost and Clonfad (both in the barony of Fartullagh) to the north, Croghan (County Offaly) to the east, Rahugh (barony of Moycashel) to the south, Kilbeggan (Moycashel) to the west and Castletownkindalen to the west and north.

The Tullamore transmitter was an AM radio transmission mast located near Tullamore, Ireland. Built in 1975 to replace the Athlone transmitter, it always carried RTÉ Radio 1 on 567 kHz, at 500 kW. The old Athlone mast was used to carry RTÉ 2fm, and was later decommissioned. The Tullamore transmitter was demolished in 2023. It was taken offline for a time in 2004 for major maintenance, with the Clarkstown transmitter in County Meath taking over Tullamore's AM broadcast. Tullamore ceased analogue broadcasts permanently on 24 March 2008, as the Clarkstown longwave transmitter provides improved coverage of the United Kingdom at the same transmission power. The antenna, a 290-metre (952') tall guyed mast, was the tallest structure in Ireland. It was demolished on 25 July 2023. For a time RTÉ Radio broadcast a second signal from the Tullamore site, on 252 kHz longwave, before the setting up of Radio Tara and the building of the Clarkstown mast, to which the frequency was allocated.

Meedin (Irish: Mídín), also Meedian, is a village and townland in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is located in the south of the county on the N52 road, to the north of Tyrrellspass and Rochfortbridge and to the south of Mullingar. The village contains a 19th-century church, dating back to 1831, dedicated to the Sacred Heart.

Castlelost West is a townland in County Westmeath, Ireland. The townland is located in the civil parish of the same name. The R446 regional road runs through the south of the area. The townland of Castlelost lies to the east and contains the town of Rochfortbridge. The town of Tyrrellspass stands to the west of the townland. The townland is bordered by Castlelost to the east, Clontytallon, and Kilbride to the north, Gneevebane, and Oldtown to the south, and Piercetown to the west.

Ballinagar (historically Bellanagar, from Irish: Béal Átha na gCarr) is a village in County Offaly, Ireland. It lies on the R402 regional road, roughly midway between Daingean and Tullamore. The Church of St. Joseph, built in 1837, serves as the Roman Catholic parish church in the village. The local national school, also named St. Joseph's, originally opened in 1949 but moved to a new building in 2011/2012. The village has a pub named Tom and Jerry's bar.
