The Bank of the Republic of Haiti (French: Banque de la République d'Haïti, abbreviated BRH) is the central bank of Haiti. It was formed in 1979 from the National Bank of the Republic of Haiti (French: Banque Nationale de la République d'Haïti), which had served as the country's bank of issue since 1910, itself succeeding the National Bank of Haiti. The bank is active in promoting financial inclusion policy and is a member institution of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion. It recently announced a Maya Declaration Commitment to continue with the modernization of the payment system, and submit legislation to regulate and supervise micro finance institutions to relevant authorities in 2013. The central bank in Port-au-Prince was stormed during the Haitian riots of 2024. The attack was driven back by the bank's security guards leaving 3 people killed.

The Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince (erected 3 October 1861) is a metropolitan archdiocese, responsible for the suffragan dioceses of Jacmel, Jérémie, Anse-à-Veau and Miragoâne and Les Cayes. The archdiocese was a vacant see following the death of Archbishop Joseph Serge Miot, who was one of the many casualties of the 12 January 2010 earthquake when the Archdiocesan Chancery building collapsed. The archdiocese's chancellor was also reportedly killed. On the one-year anniversary of the disaster, Pope Benedict XVI named Guire Poulard - who had been the Bishop of Les Cayes - as the new Archbishop of Port-au-Prince. At the same time he named Glandas Marie Erick Toussaint as the auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese.

The National Library of Haiti (BNH; French: Bibliothèque nationale d'Haïti) is Haiti's legal deposit library, with a collection of approximately 26,000 volumes. It is located in the capital, Port-au-Prince and is the principal library of the city. The current head of the library is Dangelo Neard.

The Exposition internationale du bicentenaire de Port-au-Prince was a world's fair held in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1949 to mark the 200th anniversary of the city's founding.

The Holy Trinity Cathedral, Port-au-Prince (French: Cathédrale Sainte Trinité) was the main cathedral in the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti. The building was located in downtown Port-au-Prince at the corner of Ave. Mgr. Guilloux & Rue Pavée. Holy Trinity Cathedral has been destroyed six times, including in the devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010.

The Port international de Port-au-Prince (UN/LOCODE: HTPAP) is the seaport in the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince. It suffered catastrophic damage in the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Some of docks and warehouses are operated by the government's Autorité Portuaire Nationale (APN), and some are run by private companies.

Petit Séminaire Collège Saint-Martial (founded in 1865) is an all-boys Catholic school located in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. The school is under the control of the Holy Ghost Fathers.

Le Marron Inconnu de Port au prince, shortened as Le Marron Inconnu (French pronunciation: [lə ma.ʁɔ̃ ɛ̃.kɔ.ny], "The Unknown Maroon"), also called Neg Marron or Nèg Mawon (Haitian Creole pronunciation: [nɛɡ ma.ʁɔ̃], "Maroon Man"), is a bronze statue of a runaway slave, better known as a maroon, standing in the center of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Completed on September 22 1967 by Haitian architect Albert Mangonès, the statue is regarded as a symbol of black liberation; commemorating in particular, the rallying cry that sparked the Haitian Revolution and the abolishment of slavery. Situated across from the National Palace, it is the nation's most iconic representation of the struggle for freedom.

On 13 November 2018, a massacre began within the La Saline slums of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. According to reports, at least 71 civilians were killed over a 24-hour period. It is alleged that the killings were either due to local gang wars or the actions of Haitian officials attempting to quell anti-corruption protests.

The National Palace (French: Palais National; Haitian Creole: Palè nasyonal) was the official residence of the president of Haiti, located in the capital Port-au-Prince, facing Place L'Ouverture near the Champs de Mars. It was severely damaged during the devastating 2010 Haiti earthquake. The ruins of the building were demolished in 2012 under the Martelly administration, and plans to rebuild the palace were announced by then-president Jovenel Moïse in 2017, but it is unclear if or when reconstruction will begin.

Bel Air (Haitian Creole: Bèlè, English: Pretty Air) is a neighborhood of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It is a slum area of the city and suffers from poverty. Crime is widespread, and kidnappings and killings have created panic among the local population. The neighborhood is also noted for housing a community of artists and craftsmen who produce inspired by Haitian Vodou, such as flags.

The Musée du Panthéon National Haïtien (MUPANAH) is a museum featuring the heroes of the independence of Haiti, the Haitian history and culture.
