Western Harnett High School is one of six high schools in Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. The other high schools include, Harnett Central, Triton, Overhills, the alternative school and Harnett Early College, located in Dunn, NC. WHHS is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lillington, the county seat on N.C. Highway 27. The school was officially dedicated in May 1978, along with Harnett Central High School. The mascot for WHHS is the eagle.

Camels Creek, a tributary of the Cape Fear River, rises just north of Ryes.

Geographically, Barbecue Township occupies 59.65 square miles (154.5 km2) in southwestern Harnett County. Geographically, Upper Little River Township occupies 95.69 square miles (247.8 km2) in western Harnett County and is the largest township in the county by land area. There are no incorporated municipalities located in Upper Little River Township, however, there are several unincorporated communities located here, including the communities of Luart, Mamers, Ryes, and Seminole. A large portion of Raven Rock State Park is also located here.

Mamers is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 826 at the 2010 census. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau.

Norrington is an unincorporated community located in Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. It is an African American community located a few miles south of Lillington, the county seat, and west of Bunnlevel. The community was settled as early as the 1860s.

Broadway is a town in Lee County, North Carolina, United States. According to the 2010 census, the population was 1,229.

Anderson Creek Club is a residential golf course community in the United States, located in the unincorporated community of Anderson Creek, North Carolina. Anderson Creek Club features a par 72 course. It was designed by Davis Love III, opened in 2001 it was awarded 4 1/2 Stars by Golf Digest. According to the Anderson Creek Club website: The golf course is "designed to accommodate any skill level, it boasts an outstanding practice facility with a 10,000 square foot putting green, practice area, chipping area, sand bunker and practice range with multiple targets."

Olivia is an unincorporated community centered in the Barbecue Township of Harnett County, North Carolina, United States, but also covering parts of Anderson Creek Township near the Lee County line.
