Hairtown is an unincorporated community located in the Anderson Creek Township of Harnett County, North Carolina.

Anderson Creek Township is one of thirteen townships in Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 11,216 according to the 2000 census. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. Geographically, Anderson Creek Township occupies 66.85 square miles (173.1 km2) in southern Harnett County. There are no incorporated municipalities located in Anderson Creek Township, however, there are several unincorporated communities located here, including the community of Anderson Creek.

Western Harnett High School is one of six high schools in Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. The other high schools include, Harnett Central, Triton, Overhills, the alternative school and Harnett Early College, located in Dunn, NC. WHHS is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lillington, the county seat on N.C. Highway 27. The school was officially dedicated in May 1978, along with Harnett Central High School. The mascot for WHHS is the eagle.

Anderson Creek is a census-designated place located in the Anderson Creek Township of Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 13,636.Notable landmarks near the community include Anderson Creek Plaza and the Anderson Creek Golf Club. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. Anderson Creek is located approximately 7 miles (11 km) to the north Of Spring Lake, Pope Air Force Base and Ft. Bragg. Current talks are in place on incorporating Anderson Creek as a town, which would entail a post office being opened in the community. Currently, most Anderson Creek residents have Spring Lake addresses with the zip code 28390. Anderson Creek is served by the Harnett County Sheriff's department for law enforcement and Anderson Creek Emergency Services for fire and emergency services.Anderson Creek is a fast-growing community. Increased rapid growth of the community can be attributed to the increase of the military at the nearby Ft. Bragg, as well as the Davis Love III-created golf course, Anderson Creek Club. Just recently, at the intersection of Ray and Overhill's roads, a shopping center was added. The Anderson Creek Shopping Center comprises a Food Lion, China Star Chinese takeout, Domino's Pizza, Family Dollar and a Citi Nails nail salon. The movie gallery location is now a Fit 4 Life Health Club. The Tigers Pizza and Subs restaurant have moved to a new location near Highway 210 and Manchester Road in neighboring Cumberland County. The Anderson Creek Plaza includes a McDonald's restaurant, Subway restaurant, a Tobacco Station, a dry-cleaners (Monarch Cleaners) and the Anderson Creek Pharmacy. North Carolina's Department of Transportation is currently planning road expansion along Ray Road, and as a result the Short Stop Convenience Store & Gas station has closed, and the State Farm Insurance Company office as well as a barber shop have moved to the Anderson Creek Plaza from a nearby location on Ray Road.

Spout Springs is a Census-designated place in Johnsonville Township of Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 11,040.It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. Spout Springs formerly produced lumber and naval stores.The area population has increased greatly in the 21st century due to the expansion of nearby Ft. Bragg.

Barbecue is an unincorporated community located in the Barbecue Township of Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau.

Norrington is an unincorporated community located in Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. It is an African American community located a few miles south of Lillington, the county seat, and west of Bunnlevel. The community was settled as early as the 1860s.

Overhills is an unincorporated community located in the Johnsonville Township of Harnett County, North Carolina, United States, near the Cumberland County town of Spring Lake. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. The community was originally a 17,500-acre (7,100 ha) estate owned by the Percy Rockefeller family but later acquired by the federal government and is now mostly located inside nearby Fort Bragg (Powell 1968, p. 87). A Donald Ross-designed golf course was added to the estate in two separate projects and is also now located inside Fort Bragg.

Barbecue Township is one of thirteen townships in Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. It had a population of 17,033 according to the 2010 census., 20,531 according to the 2020 census, & 19,828 according to the 2021 census. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. Geographically, Barbecue Township occupies 59.65 square miles (154.5 km2) in southwestern Harnett County. There are no incorporated municipalities located in Barbecue Township, however, there are several unincorporated communities located here, including the communities of Barbecue, Olivia and Pineview.

Thorbiskope, also known as the John Elliot House, is a historic plantation house located near Bunnlevel, Harnett County, North Carolina. It was built in two sections. The earliest section was built about 1820, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, Georgian / Federal style frame Coastal Cottage frame dwelling that forms the rear ell. About 1848, the two-story, five bay by two bay, Greek Revival style front section was added. It features a one-bay front portico.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Solomon and Henry Weil Houses are two historic homes located at Goldsboro, Wayne County, North Carolina. They were built in 1875 for two brothers, and are nearly identical two-story, rectangular, Late Victorian frame dwellings. They feature projecting bays, bay windows, porches, and verandahs. Social activist Gertrude Weil, Henry's daughter, grew up in the house at 200 W. Chestnut St.They were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
