Lakeville North High School (LNHS) is a public high school in northern Lakeville, Minnesota, United States. Formerly Lakeville High School, LNHS received its current name when a second high school, Lakeville South High School, was built. Grades 9–12 attend the school, and its principal is Kim Budde.The school is a member of Minnesota Independent School District 194 (Lakeville Area Public Schools), and is affiliated with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). The school is a member of the South Suburban Conference (Minnesota). During the 2009-10 school year, Lakeville North High School was recognized with the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, the highest award an American school can receive.

Lakeville South High School (LSHS) is a high school located Lakeville, Minnesota, United States. To meet the needs of a growing population, in the early 2000s the district began construction of LSHS. LSHS enrolled students for the first time in fall 2005. Unlike LNHS, whose student come from a predominantly urban/suburban catchment area, LSHS pulls from the suburban/rural areas of Lakeville. This socioeconomic divide has contributed to the ferocity of the rivalry between LNHS and LSHS athletics. In addition, the close proximity and closeness of the community in the City of Lakeville also plays a large role in the strong community competition between the two high schools. The school is a member of Minnesota Independent School District 194 (Lakeville Area Public Schools) and is affiliated with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). The Kenrick Avenue Park and Ride is a 750-space parking ramp in Lakeville, Minnesota providing interchange for bus passengers. The three-level park-and-ride ramp is located on the site of a former Minnesota Department of Transportation weigh station, on the east side of Interstate Highway 35 at Kenrick Avenue and 167th Street West, about two miles south of the point where I-35E and I-35W divide. In January, 2009, the Metropolitan Council awarded a $6.6 million contract to Adolphson & Peterson Construction to build the station, which began serving customers on September 28, 2009. Northbound buses access the freeway directly from the station. Buses on Metro Transit's Express Bus Route 467 now serve commuters destined for downtown Minneapolis. A future extension of the Metro Orange Line, a bus rapid transit service to downtown Minneapolis, may also serve the facility.The station was built at a cost of $8.67 million. Most of the cost was paid by the federal government with $1.7 million coming from Minnesota state bonds. The park and ride was the third largest facility by capacity in the Metro Transit system in 2011.

The Emil J. Oberhoffer House is a historic house in Lakeville, Minnesota, United States, overlooking Orchard Lake. Emil Oberhoffer was the founder and first conductor of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. The home was designed by Paul Haugen, who worked for Purcell and Elmslie, an architectural firm known for its renditions of Prairie School architecture. Later the home belonged to the parents of golfer Patty Berg.Architect Paul Haugen began his architectural career as an apprentice in Fargo, North Dakota. After moving to Minneapolis, he was influenced by the Prairie School style of architecture and ornamentation. This home was designed while he was on his own for a brief period of time around 1913. During that time he designed several residences and a school in Burnsville.

Buck Hill is a ski hill in Burnsville, Minnesota, a suburb south of Minneapolis. It is one of three ski areas in the Twin Cities metropolitan area; the others are Afton Alps and Hyland Ski and Snowboard Area. Buck Hill opened in 1954 and offers ski, snowboard, and tubing trails. Artificial snow is often used to maintain the slopes, because while Minnesota's winters are cold, the average annual snowfall is low for a ski area: less than 60 in (150 cm).Buck Hill faces east, overlooking Interstate 35. It is owned by David and Corrine "Chip" Solner. The ski area is lighted for night skiing, and operates three chairlifts (2 quads, 1 triple) and multiple surface tows (trail map). The base area consists of a parking lot and a short strip of lodges. The ski runs use the east face of the hill, with the other sides occupied by residential housing, and a municipal water tower sharing the summit. The ski area's vertical drop is 310 feet (94 m).

The Minneapolis Saint Paul Rochester & Dubuque Electric Traction Company Depot or Orchard Gardens Railway Station, located at County Road 5 and 155th Street in Burnsville in the U.S. state of Minnesota was built in 1910 on the Dan Patch Line, later known as the Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern Railway. Connecting Northfield and Minneapolis, the line carried agricultural produce from rural Dakota County to urban markets. When Orchard Gardens in Burnsville was platted in 1910, this small depot was added for the area's passengers. Orchard Gardens farmers grew onions, apples, and flowers, and produced eggs and milk until the Great Depression caused locals to find employment in Minneapolis. Then the station attracted more commuters than farmers.
