Buck Hill is a ski hill in Burnsville, Minnesota, a suburb south of Minneapolis. It is one of three ski areas in the Twin Cities metropolitan area; the others are Afton Alps and Hyland Ski and Snowboard Area. Buck Hill opened in 1954 and offers ski, snowboard, and tubing trails. Artificial snow is often used to maintain the slopes, because while Minnesota's winters are cold, the average annual snowfall is low for a ski area: less than 60 in (150 cm).Buck Hill faces east, overlooking Interstate 35. It is owned by David and Corrine "Chip" Solner. The ski area is lighted for night skiing, and operates three chairlifts (2 quads, 1 triple) and multiple surface tows (trail map). The base area consists of a parking lot and a short strip of lodges. The ski runs use the east face of the hill, with the other sides occupied by residential housing, and a municipal water tower sharing the summit. The ski area's vertical drop is 310 feet (94 m).

The Minneapolis Saint Paul Rochester & Dubuque Electric Traction Company Depot or Orchard Gardens Railway Station, located at County Road 5 and 155th Street in Burnsville in the U.S. state of Minnesota was built in 1910 on the Dan Patch Line, later known as the Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern Railway. Connecting Northfield and Minneapolis, the line carried agricultural produce from rural Dakota County to urban markets. When Orchard Gardens in Burnsville was platted in 1910, this small depot was added for the area's passengers. Orchard Gardens farmers grew onions, apples, and flowers, and produced eggs and milk until the Great Depression caused locals to find employment in Minneapolis. Then the station attracted more commuters than farmers.

Nearby Lac Lavon Lake Park has a softball complex, tennis courts, and horseshoe courts. The Lake also contains two islands, Picnic Island (nicknamed Potty Island) and Maple Island. The most southerly parts of the lake extend into the city of Lakeville. Crystal Lake was named from its sparkling waters.

The Emil J. Oberhoffer House is a historic house in Lakeville, Minnesota, United States, overlooking Orchard Lake. Emil Oberhoffer was the founder and first conductor of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. The home was designed by Paul Haugen, who worked for Purcell and Elmslie, an architectural firm known for its renditions of Prairie School architecture. Later the home belonged to the parents of golfer Patty Berg.Architect Paul Haugen began his architectural career as an apprentice in Fargo, North Dakota. After moving to Minneapolis, he was influenced by the Prairie School style of architecture and ornamentation. This home was designed while he was on his own for a brief period of time around 1913. During that time he designed several residences and a school in Burnsville.

Earley Lake is a 23-acre lake in Dakota County, in the U.S. state of Minnesota.Earley Lake was named for William Earley, a pioneer who settled there in 1854.Day Park and Earley Lake Trail are a four-acre park located on the northeast corner of County Road 5 and Southcross Drive. A hard surface 1.2 mile walking path surrounds the lake allowing for a handful of recreation opportunities. Friends of Earley Lake is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and enjoyment of the beautiful Earley Lake and its surrounding natural habitat. Their mission is to bring people together through nature, fostering a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the tranquility it offers.

Marion Lake is a lake in Dakota County, in the U.S. state of Minnesota.Marion Lake was named by Marion W. Savage, proprietor of the Dan Patch Air Rail and owner of the famous race horse Dan Patch. This was also the site of Antler's Park, an amusement park for swimming, dancing and picnics. The park was created as the last destination of the Dan Patch Air Rail.

Lakeville North High School (LNHS) is a public high school in northern Lakeville, Minnesota, United States. Formerly Lakeville High School, LNHS received its current name when a second high school, Lakeville South High School, was built. Grades 9–12 attend the school, and its principal is Kim Budde.The school is a member of Minnesota Independent School District 194 (Lakeville Area Public Schools), and is affiliated with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). The school is a member of the South Suburban Conference (Minnesota). During the 2009-10 school year, Lakeville North High School was recognized with the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, the highest award an American school can receive.

Alimagnet Lake is a lake in Dakota County, in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The lake stands in Burnsville, south of Minneapolis. The name Alimagnet is supposedly a portmanteau derived from the first names of Alice McQuillen, Margaret "Maggie" Davis, and Nettie Judd, three young girls who were playing near the yet unnamed lake in the 1860's when surveyors asked their names and subsequently named the lake after them.

Abdallah Candies is a fifth-generation, family-owned chocolatier and confectionery in Apple Valley, Minnesota. It was established as the Calhoun Candy Depot in Minneapolis in 1909 by Lebanese immigrant Albert Abdallah and his wife of Swedish descent, Helen Trovall. The company was renamed Abdallah Candy Company in 1916.
