Sant Gervasi – Galvany is a neighborhood in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). The name of the neighborhood refers to Sant Gervasi de Cassoles, which was one of the parts of the former municipality of Sant Gervasi de Cassoles; and the Camp d'en Galvany urbanization which was begun in 1866 by its owner, Joseph Galvany Castelló. The Galvany name became popular when the market Galvany was built, located between the neighborhood streets Santaló, Calaf, Amigó and Madrazo, and the market has a plaque on the facade of Santaló street recalling that Josep Galvany Castelló gave the land on which the market was built to the municipality. It occupies the area between Av. Diagonal, Av. de Sarrià, General Mitre, Balmes and Via Augusta. This area corresponds approximately to the neighbourhood of Lledó which took its name from the old Mas Lledó in the division of neighbourhoods approved by the Sant Gervasi town hall in 1879. The population of the neighborhood are mainly of upper class extraction and the oldest part is around the streets of Sagués i Amigó. From the 1950s onwards numerous new buildings have been constructed, the most luxurious of which are to be found in Muntaner street. Today it is a neighborhood with a lively nightlife due to the large number of bars, restaurants and nightspots, especially around Santaló and the surrounding streets. Plaça de Francesc Macià (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈplasə ðə fɾənˈsɛzɡ məsiˈa]) is a square in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Located in one of the main business areas of the city, it is one of the most transited points of Barcelona. It is crossed by Avinguda Diagonal and several other major thoroughfares: Avinguda de Josep Tarradellas, Travessera de Gràcia, Carrer del Comte d'Urgell and Avinguda de Pau Casals. It is part of the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district, even though it borders two other districts of Barcelona: Les Corts and Eixample. It is named after Francesc Macià (1859-1933), Catalan president during the Second Spanish Republic who proclaimed a short-lived Catalan Republic. The central part of the square contains a pond modelled after the shape of Menorca, the birthplace of its architect, Nicolau Rubió i Tudurí, as well as feminine sculpture called Joventut ("youth") designed by Josep Manuel Benedicto, added in 1953. Spanish-language newspaper La Vanguardia is based in Avinguda Diagonal 477, within square limits.

The Museum and Study Center of Sport Doctor Melcior Colet (in Catalan, Museu i Centre d'Estudis de l'Esport Doctor Melcior Colet ) is a facility dedicated to the promotion and exhibition of the most prominent in the development of the history of the sport in Catalonia in recent centuries. It is based in an Art Nouveau house built in 1911 by Josep Puig i Cadafalch the Casa Pere Company, which is located in Buenos Aires street, 56, Barcelona . In 1982, Dr. Melcior Colet i Torrabadella gave the building to Generalitat of Catalonia to transform it into a museum. On 13 December 1991 it introduced the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Official Commemorative Medals.

Muntaner is a railway station located at the intersection of the Via Augusta with the Carrer de Santaló and Carrer de Muntaner, in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona. During off-peak periods it is served by line L6 of the Barcelona Metro, together with lines S1 and S2 of the Metro del Vallès commuter rail system. During peak periods, additional services are provided by lines S5 and S55 of the Metro del Vallès system, whilst service on line L6 is reduced or removed altogether. All these lines are operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, who also run the station.The station has twin tracks, with two side platforms and a central island platform. The side platforms are used for boarding, whilst the central platform is used for alighting, a configuration that is known as the Barcelona solution.The line on which Muntaner station is located opened in 1863, but the first station on the site did not open until 1908. The current station was opened in 1959, when the line through the station was put underground.

Francesc Macià is a Trambaix station and a projected metro station located in the Plaça de Francesc Macià, Barcelona, crossed by the Avinguda Diagonal, in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district. This stop is the terminal for the three Trambaix routes (T1, T2 and T3). Also it is planned to be a Barcelona Metro station, which is due to be served by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) L8, as part of the station's enlargement towards Gràcia. It would be located on the Plaça de Francesc Macià, in the district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. Since this area is one of the few left without a direct metro connection after the completion of L9 and L10, it has been demanded by the neighbours and has featured in some of the ambitious proposals for transportation in the city since the 1960s. Namely in the projects for a line VI and for a Diagonal line.The current project to enlarge line L8 would connect that line with the Trambaix tram system, and it would connect Plaça d'Espanya and some areas of the metropolitan area of Barcelona it goes through with this square.

The Joan Maragall Archive is a documentation center that brings together a documentary on the life and work of the poet Joan Maragall and Modernism in general. The centre is placed in the last residence of Joan Maragall, at Alfons XII street, in the neighbourhood of Sant Gervasi, Barcelona. It is a reserve section of the National Library of Catalonia and is open to researchers of the poet's work. It is also a historic house museum that displays the interior of the last residence of the poet and which can be viewed by guided tour or individual visit.

The two stations are connected by a pedestrian tunnel, within the fare paid area of both stations.Due to the renovations at the Gràcia station, commuters wishing to take the L7 line to Avinguda Tibidabo must access it by switching from Sant Gervasi to Plaça Molina.The first Sant Gervasi station opened in 1863 and was situated in a cutting with a station building at ground level. The current station was opened in 1929, when the line serving the station was put underground.

Carrer de Balmes (Catalan pronunciation: [kəˈre ðə ˈβalməs]), named after the Catalan philosopher and ecclesiastic Jaume Balmes, is one of the most important avenues in Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain). It was devised in 1859 as part of Ildefons Cerdà urban plan. Balmes is along Carrer Muntaner the longest road stretching from the sea towards the mountainside. It starts in the crossing of Pelai and Bergara streets and crosses the Eixample and Sant Gervasi districts, ending in Plaça John Fitzgerald Kennedy, by Avinguda del Tibidabo and Tramvia Blau. The Sant Gervasi part of the street was constructed after 1908. It is considered the central street of Eixample, with Dreta de l'Eixample to its right, and Esquerra de l'Eixample to its left. As with most of the other large streets in the area, it is 20 metres wide, with the difference that its sidewalks are less broad than the average. The street is expected to come under an extensive reform project in 2009, which will see its five lanes be reduced to four - one of them reserved for buses and taxis like it is today. The pavements on either side will also be enlarged and trees will be planted to make the busy street more pedestrian-friendly.Carrer de Balmes is also part of the so-called Gaixample, Barcelona's gay village and hosts one of its most famous clubs, Arena. Banc Sabadell is headquartered at the crossing of Carrer de Balmes with Avinguda Diagonal. Pompeu Fabra University owns a building in this street.

Plaça Molina is a station of the Barcelona Metro on the FGC-operated line L7 (also known as Línia de Balmes). The station is situated under by Plaça Molina, a square in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district. It is connected by an underground pedestrian passageway to the nearby Sant Gervasi station on line L6 of the metro.The station opened in 1953, with the inauguration of the railway section spanning from Gràcia to Avinguda Tibidabo (still the terminus of the line). The link to Sant Gervasi station opened in 2008.The station has twin tracks, with two 60 metres (200 ft) long side platforms. Because of proximity to street level, each platform has its own street access, with the two platforms being linked by an underpass below the track level.
