Hopedale (), also known as La Chinche (, Spanish: [la ˈtʃintʃe]), is a fishing community located along Bayou La Loutre in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. The community was established by Isleño fisherman and trappers following the American Civil War. The community was devastated in Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Saint Malo (Spanish: San Maló [samaˈlo]) was a small fishing village that existed along the shore of Lake Borgne in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana as early as the mid-eighteenth century until it was destroyed by the 1915 New Orleans hurricane. Located along Bayou Saint Malo, about 6 miles (9.7 km) east of the Isleño fishing village of Shell Beach, it was the first permanent settlement of Filipinos and perhaps the first Asian-American settlement in the United States. The exact date of the establishment of Saint Malo is disputed. The settlement may have been formed as early as 1763 or 1765 by Filipino deserters of the Spanish Manila galleon trade. The members of the community were commonly referred to as Manila men, or Manilamen, and later Tagalas. Oral tradition states that the fisherman of Saint Malo witnessed the British invasion of Louisiana leading up to the Battle of New Orleans and joined the Baratarians under Jean Lafitte in the defense of New Orleans.

The Mississippi River–Gulf Outlet Canal (abbreviated as MR-GO or MRGO) is a 76 mi (122 km) channel constructed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers at the direction of Congress in the mid-20th century that provided a shorter route between the Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans' inner harbor Industrial Canal via the Intracoastal Waterway. In 2005, the MRGO channeled Hurricane Katrina's storm surge into the heart of Greater New Orleans, contributing significantly to the subsequent multiple engineering failures experienced by the region's hurricane protection network. In the aftermath the channel was closed. A permanent storm surge barrier was constructed in the MRGO in 2009, and the channel has been closed to maritime shipping. The MRGO begins just west of I-510's crossing of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in New Orleans East and takes a path SSE through St. Bernard Parish wetlands just west of Lake Borgne to the Gulf of Mexico near Gardner Island. Much criticized for its negative environmental effects, such as saltwater intrusion, wetlands erosion and storm surge amplification during Hurricane Katrina, the MRGO was closed in 2009. Maritime traffic was barred on April 22, 2009.

Verret (), commonly known as Verrett or Verrettville, is an unincorporated community in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, United States. The community was originally established as a freedmen's town by formerly enslaved African Americans. In 2018, a Louisiana state historical marker was placed at the First Baptist Church of Verrettville in recognition of its significance in addition to the importance of community founder Rev. Samuel Smith.

The Kenilworth Plantation House is a historic plantation house located at 2931 Bayou Road in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, United States. According to a sign in front of the house, the French Creole style house was built in 1759. Its nomination to the National Register of Historic Places, however, indicates it was built circa 1820. During the early 19th century, the French Creole style was the predominant architectural form of St. Bernard Parish; however, most of the parish's French Creole buildings from the period are no longer standing, and Kenilworth is one of the best-preserved examples of the style. The two-story house has a raised basement, and the upper story is considered the primary living space. A gallery supported by turned colonnettes surrounds both stories of the house; all entrances from the gallery feature French doors. The house's hipped roof has an intricate truss support system and exposed, shaped rafter tails typical of Creole designs. Since 1964, the home has been owned by Dr. Valentino Acosta, an Arabi dentist and his family. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 24, 2006. The house was a filming location for the movie Stay Alive.

Bayou Dupre is a bayou in southeastern Louisiana.

The New Orleans–Metairie–Slidell combined statistical area is made up of nine parishes in southeastern Louisiana and one county in Mississippi. The statistical area consists of the New Orleans metropolitan statistical area (MSA), Slidell–Mandeville–Covington, LA MSA, Picayune micropolitan statistical area (μSA), and the Bogalusa μSA. As of the 2020 census estimates, the CSA had a population of 1,510,672. In 2023, the Office of Management and Budget updated the Core Based Statistical Areas, removing St. Tammany Parish from the New Orleans–Metairie MSA to create the Slidell–Mandeville–Covington MSA. The area was severely affected by Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005.

Saint Bernard (Spanish: San Bernardo [sam beɾˈnaɾðo]) is an unincorporated community in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, United States. The community is located on Louisiana State Highway 300, east of the Mississippi River and 8 miles (13 km) southeast of Chalmette. Saint Bernard is home to four sites on the National Register of Historic Places: the Dr. Louis A. Ducros House, the Kenilworth Plantation House, Magnolia Mound, and the Sebastopol Plantation House.

SS Alice McGuigin was a two-masted schooner that sank in Lake Borgne off Pearlington, Mississippi, United States in the 1893 Cheniere Caminada hurricane. Under the command of Captain Wm. Delavier with five crewmembers, the schooner was owned by the Poitevent & Favre Lumber Company before lost at sea on October 2, 1893.

Poydras is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 3,886 at the 2000 census and 2,536 in 2020. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner Metropolitan Statistical Area. Poydras is on the East Bank of the Mississippi River, just upriver from the Plaquemines Parish line.

Violet is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 5,758 at the 2020 census. Violet is located on the east bank of the Mississippi River, approximately 7.5 miles (12.1 km) southeast of New Orleans and is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner metropolitan statistical area.

St. Bernard State Park is a state park located in the American state of Louisiana, on a tract of land in St. Bernard Parish, between the towns of Poydras and Caernarvon. Though located only approximately eighteen miles southeast of New Orleans, attendance had been fledgling at the park for years, ranking among the least visited in the state.
