Wittelte

De Vlijt (English: The Diligence) is a smock mill in Diever, Netherlands. It was built in 1882. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 12907.

Diever is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 18 km northwest of Hoogeveen. Diever is located near the Drentse Hoofdvaart, a major north–south route for pleasure boats in the province of Drenthe. Diever is located next to the Drents-Friese Wold, one of the national parks in the Netherlands, and a attraction for tourists. In the centre of Diever there is the brink, the village square with old buildings surrounding it. The Dutch Reformed Saint Pancratius-church is a 15th-century building, and considered one of the most beautiful churches of Drenthe. Diever was a separate municipality until 1998, when the new municipality of Westerveld was created.

Dieverbrug is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 17 km northwest of Hoogeveen. The village was first mentioned in 1841 as "Dieverbrug of Dieverschebrug", and refers to the bridge which was built around 1770 over the Drentsche Hoofdvaart on the road from Diever to Dwingeloo.Dieverbrug was home to 45 people in 1840. The lime kiln was built in 1925. It remained in function until 1952, but has remained as the local landmark.

Westerveld (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌʋɛstərˈvɛlt] ) is a municipality in the northeastern Netherlands. The municipality Westerveld was established in 1998 out of the municipalities of Diever, Dwingeloo, Havelte, and Vledder. Westerveld is crossed by a channel, the Drentsche Hoofdvaart. There are also two National Parks situated in the municipality, the Drents-Friese Wold and Dwingelerveld.

Westeinde is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is part of the town Dwingeloo and of the municipality of Westerveld. The name Westeinde means 'western end' and alludes to the fact that it lies west of Dwingeloo. Westeinde lies about 14 km northwest of Hoogeveen. The statistical area "Westeinde", which also includes the surrounding countryside, consists of around 50 villas and large estates and has a population of around 130.Westeinde is characterized by the presence of one of the four Havezates (a large manor reserved for the nobility) that were built in or near Dwingeloo, namely Oldengaerde. The estate dates back to the first half of the 15th century. In 1808, the estate was purchased by Jonkheer Aalt Willem van Holthe, who was the mayor of Dwingeloo from 1812 to 1852. Oldengaerde has remained in his family ever since, and his descendants have decorated the Westeinde with villas such as De Bork (1910), Olden Hut (1916), Nije Batinghe (1923, named after another Havezathe 'Batinghe') and Nyengaerde (1926, named after Oldengaerde).

Uffelte is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 15 km west of Hoogeveen. Uffelte was first mentioned as Ulfo in 1040 when Emperor Henry III donated estates from a certain Uffo and his brothers, located in Uffelte, Wittelte and Peelo, to Bishop Bernold of Utrecht.Wittelte Uffelte is an esdorp on a sandy ridge. The village has two large communal pastures and a village square.The villages of Uffelte and Darp decided to build a joint church halfway between the two villages. The church was built in 1310, and the village of Havelte developed around the church. Uffelte received its own church in 1910, when the Dutch Reformed church was built.Uffelte was home to 651 people in 1840.

Ansen is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is in the municipality De Wolden, about 15 km northwest of the town of Hoogeveen. The music festival Vogelpop is hosted in Ansen.

Wapse is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 21 km northwest of Hoogeveen. The village was first mentioned in 1384 as "Johanni de Wapse". The etymology is unknown. Wapse is a circular esdorp from the Early Middle Ages. There used to be five hamlets around the central communal pasture.Wapse was home to 252 people in 1840. In 1897, a cooperative dairy factory was founded in Wapse. In 2016, the village school was scheduled to be closed due to lack of students, however protests have prevented its closure.

Leggeloo is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 17 km north of Hoogeveen. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1217 as in Legghelo. The etymology is unclear. Leggeloo was home to 172 people in 1840.

Dwingeloo (Dutch: [ˈdʋɪŋəloː]) is a village halfway between Meppel and Assen in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld. The village is known internationally because of the radio telescope of the Dwingeloo Radio Observatory (which at the time of its completion in 1956 was the largest radio telescope in the world), located on the edge of the Dwingeloo Heath, 3 km south of the village. The telescope discovered Dwingeloo 1 and Dwingeloo 2, two galaxies about 10 million light-years away from the Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia.

Oude Willem (Low Saxon: Olde Willem) is a hamlet in the Dutch provinces of Drenthe and Friesland. It lays within the municipalities of Westerveld and Ooststellingwerf. Oude Willem lies about 21 km southwest of Assen.Oude Willem (Old William) is named a 19th century shepherd who used the heath for grazing. There are about 15 houses on the Frisian side, and 10 on the Drenthe side.There is a monument for the crew of the bomber Halifax B11. W231 who were shot down on 22 November 1943, and crashed in Oude Willem.

Witteveen is a hamlet in the Drenthe municipality of De Wolden, the Netherlands. Witteveen lies north of Ruinen on the edge of the Dwingelderveld National Park. It is considered a part of Ruinen, and has about 15 houses and 2 bungalow parks.
