Poltimore

Poltimore House is an 18th-century country house in Poltimore, Devon, England. The Manor of Poltimore was from the 13th to the 20th century the seat of the Bampfylde family, which acquired the title Baron Poltimore in 1831. The house retains much of the fabric of earlier buildings on the site erected by the family. It is designated a Grade II* listed building.It fell into a dilapidated condition during the second half of the 20th century. A group of volunteers began raising funds to restore the house in 2003, after it was a finalist in the BBC's Restoration programme, missing out on the funding that went with the top prize.

The Battle of Pinhoe took place between the Danes and the men of Devon and Somerset at Pinhoe, Devon.

Pinhoe is a former village, manor and ecclesiastical parish, now a suburb on the north eastern outskirts of the City of Exeter in the English county of Devon. The 2001 census recorded a population of 6,108 people resident within Pinhoe Ward, one of 18 wards comprising the City of Exeter. The population increased to 6,454 at the 2011 Census.

Pinhoe railway station is on the eastern edge of the city of Exeter in Devon, England, that serves the village of Pinhoe. It was opened by the London and South Western Railway (LSWR) in 1871 but is now operated by South Western Railway which provides services on the West of England Main Line. Monkerton is a small hamlet in the village of Pinhoe in the county of Devon. Pinhoe Railway Station is situated there. Monkerton is set to expand hugely from 2015 onwards, with housing developers gaining planning permission to build properties. Barratt David Wilson are currently due to build 178 units, including social housing and private housing. They have proposed to incorporate their homes into the natural wildlife of the area and enhance their habitats at the same time.Exeter College has also built an "engineering and mechanics" college near by. This and the local amenities will be huge factors in peoples decisions to live in Monkerton.

Huxham is a hamlet and civil parish in the county of Devon, England and the district of East Devon and lies about 3 miles from Exeter. The parish has an area of about 800 acres and is surrounded, clockwise from the north, by Rewe, Poltimore, Exeter and Stoke Canon. It is too small to have a parish council and instead has a parish meeting. It was formerly part of the Wonford Hundred and gave its name to a family who possessed the manor from the reign of Henry II to that of Edward III. The manor was then held by the Bampfylde family of Poltimore.

Clyst Vale Community College is a school in Broadclyst, East Devon near Exeter in England, UK. Since April 2011 it has been an academy. The school is a Microsoft partnership school and therefore specialises in ICT as well as Mathematics and Science. The buildings cater for secondary education from ages 11 to 16 as well as being a sixth form college where people can study for A levels, NVQs and GNVQs. It also acts as an extracurricular college for those of the school and of the community offering after-school hours classes such as Carpentry , Music and Art

Killerton is an 18th-century house in Broadclyst, Exeter, Devon, England, which, with its hillside garden and estate, has been owned by the National Trust since 1944 and is open to the public. The National Trust displays the house as a comfortable home. On display in the house is a collection of 18th- to 20th-century costumes, originally known as the Paulise de Bush collection, shown in period rooms. The estate covers some 2590 hectares (25.9 km2, 6400 acres). Included in the estate is a steep wooded hillside with the remains of an Iron Age hill fort on top of it, known as Dolbury, which has also yielded evidence of Roman occupation, namely a triple-ditched Roman fort or marching camp which is still visible in aerial photographs, despite heavy ploughing within the hill fort.Killerton House itself and the Bear's Hut summerhouse in the grounds are Grade II* listed buildings. The gardens are Grade II* listed in the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.

Dolbury is another local name for the Iron Age hill fort or enclosure at Killerton Park in Devon, England. It is referred to as such in several books and websites on Iron Age sites. The hill fort is situated on a hilltop some 128 metres above sea level, the hilltop has a flat promontory jutting out northwards, still some 100 metres above sea level, around which the River Culm bends. The situation of the hill in the Culm Valley makes it very significant, although that can be hard to appreciate from the views afforded of it from the M5 motorway. Grid Ref: SS 975 005

Stoke Canon is a small village and civil parish near the confluence of the rivers Exe and Culm on the main A396 between Exeter and Tiverton in the English county of Devon, and the district of East Devon. At the 2001 census it had a population of 660. The population was unchanged in 2011 but the village forms the major part of the Exe Valley electoral ward. The population of this ward was 2,041 at the 2011 Census.There is a pub, The Stoke Canon Inn, and a post office and general stores in the centre of the village.

The Heavitree isolation hospital, also for a time known as the Exeter Corporation Tuberculosis Sanatorium, was a small pulmonary tuberculosis sanatorium located on Hollow Lane, Exeter, United Kingdom. The site is a few hundred metres to the west of the Whipton Hospital (formerly the Whipton Isolation Hospital).

St Luke's Church of England School is a co-educational secondary school located in Exeter in the English county of Devon. It is a Church of England school under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Exeter. It was originally known as St Luke's Church of England High School, but when the school gained specialisms in science and sports it was renamed St Luke's Science and Sports College. In February 2020 St Luke's Science and Sports College converted from being a voluntary controlled school administered by Devon County Council to being an academy sponsored by The Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust. It was then renamed St Luke's Church of England School. St Luke's Church of England School offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils.
