Pinhoe

Pinhoe railway station is on the eastern edge of the city of Exeter in Devon, England, that serves the village of Pinhoe. It was opened by the London and South Western Railway (LSWR) in 1871 but is now operated by South Western Railway which provides services on the West of England Main Line. It is 168 miles 44 chains (271.3 km) down the line from London Waterloo.

Monkerton is a small hamlet in the village of Pinhoe in the county of Devon. Pinhoe Railway Station is situated there. Monkerton is set to expand hugely from 2015 onwards, with housing developers gaining planning permission to build properties. Barratt David Wilson are currently due to build 178 units, including social housing and private housing. They have proposed to incorporate their homes into the natural wildlife of the area and enhance their habitats at the same time.Exeter College has also built an "engineering and mechanics" college near by. This and the local amenities will be huge factors in peoples decisions to live in Monkerton.

The Battle of Pinhoe took place between the Danes and the men of Devon and Somerset at Pinhoe, Devon.

The Heavitree isolation hospital, also for a time known as the Exeter Corporation Tuberculosis Sanatorium, was a small pulmonary tuberculosis sanatorium located on Hollow Lane, Exeter, United Kingdom. The site is a few hundred metres to the west of the Whipton Hospital (formerly the Whipton Isolation Hospital).

Exeter Science Park is an English centre of activity for businesses in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM).Exeter Science Park is based on a 26 hectare (64 acre site) at Junction of 29 of the M5 motorway on the edge of the city of Exeter. It was established in 2013 and was officially opened in 2015. Exeter Science Park Ltd (ESPL), the park developer, has four shareholders: Devon County Council, the University of Exeter, East Devon District Council and Exeter City Council. Its two strategic partners are the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone.The building of the Science Park Centre was made possible with shareholder equity from Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, Exeter City Council, and the University of Exeter; the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (HotSW LEP) which committed a £4.5m loan from the Growing Places Fund; and a £1million grant from the Regional Growth Fund.Exeter Science Park's Grow-on Buildings were partly funded by £4.5m from the HotSW LEP Growth Deal Funding. The HotSW LEP also provided £2.5m local Government funding towards the Environmental Futures Campus.The Ada Lovelace Building is partly funded by £5.5 million from the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership's Growth Deal Funding. In addition to this, East Devon District Council's Cabinet invested £1.1m in the development of the building in conjunction with Devon County Council as part of the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone programme.Funding for the George Parker Bidder building was secured in August 2020 from the Government's 'Getting Building Fund' and allocated to Exeter Science Park by the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (HotSW LEP) from its £35.4 million share of the national pot. The building was one of the first Getting Building Fund projects to begin construction in the area.Buildings at the Science Park include provision of laboratories, offices, meeting rooms and hotdesking facilities. It is also home to a café which is open to the public. In 2021, the University of Exeter transferred the business activity of its Innovation Centre to Exeter Science Park and released £2.25m funding to support the provision of innovation services by SETsquared Exeter over the next 18 years.The park is being developed around four clusters and once complete, it is anticipated it will comprise a million square feet of accommodation and employ around 3,000 people.

St Luke's Church of England School is a co-educational secondary school located in Exeter in the English county of Devon. It is a Church of England school under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Exeter. It was originally known as St Luke's Church of England High School, but when the school gained specialisms in science and sports it was renamed St Luke's Science and Sports College. In February 2020 St Luke's Science and Sports College converted from being a voluntary controlled school administered by Devon County Council to being an academy sponsored by The Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust. It was then renamed St Luke's Church of England School. St Luke's Church of England School offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils.

The Meteorological Office, abbreviated as the Met Office, is the United Kingdom's national weather service. It is an executive agency and trading fund of the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and is led by CEO Penelope Endersby, who took on the role as Chief Executive in December 2018 and is the first woman to do so. The Met Office makes meteorological predictions across all timescales from weather forecasts to climate change.

Poltimore House is an 18th-century country house in Poltimore, Devon, England. The Manor of Poltimore was from the 13th to the 20th century the seat of the Bampfylde family, which acquired the title Baron Poltimore in 1831. The house retains much of the fabric of earlier buildings on the site erected by the family. It is designated a Grade II* listed building.It fell into a dilapidated condition during the second half of the 20th century. A group of volunteers began raising funds to restore the house in 2003, after it was a finalist in the BBC's Restoration programme, missing out on the funding that went with the top prize.

Whipton Hospital is a small community hospital, also known as the Exeter Community Hospital (Whipton). It was founded as the Whipton Isolation Hospital in 1913 as a pulmonary tuberculosis sanatorium as part of a network of such facilities, instigated by the Public Health (Tuberculosis Regulations) 1912.The hospital now offers satellite services for a number of local healthcare organisations including the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and the Devon Partnership NHS Trust.

Monkerton is a proposed railway station in the hamlet of Monkerton, in Exeter, Devon, England, and is proposed as part of the "Devon Metro" plans. It would be built at a later date than the other proposed stations and is planned to be located between Polsloe Bridge and Digby & Sowton stations.

Poltimore is a village, civil parish and former manor in the East Devon district, in the county of Devon, England. It lies approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) northeast of Exeter. The parish consisted of 122 households and a population of 297 people during the 2011 census. The parish also includes the hamlet of Ratsloe.

Sowton is a village and civil parish east of Exeter in East Devon, England. It has a population of 639.Its parish council merged with that of nearby Clyst St Mary in 1976 to form Bishop's Clyst.St Michael's church was rebuilt in 1844–45, by John Hayward and paid for by John Garratt. He retained the original perpendicular northern arcade. It is a rare example of an early Victorian Tractarian village church. It is a grade I listed building.Sowton has an old village centre but serves as a major Exeter suburb, with a large industrial estate, park and ride site and modern housing developments. Sowton is also the name of an industrial estate at grid reference SX964920. The area is located next to the M5 motorway between junctions 29 and 30, the opposite side from the village and is served by Digby and Sowton railway station. Most of the industrial estate is covered with large retailers, warehousing and distributing, as well as a small number of manufacturers. There is also a Park and Ride location for bus services to Exeter city centre. For a number of years there has been an office development on the main road which was left incomplete as the economy took a downturn during construction.
