Chongwen District (simplified Chinese: 崇文区; traditional Chinese: 崇文區; pinyin: Chóngwén Qū) is a former district of Beijing, located relatively southeast to the city center (Tiananmen), and was situated between Yongdingmen and Qianmen. It spanned an area of 16.46 square kilometres (6.36 sq mi). It bordered Dongcheng District to the north, Fengtai District to the south, Chaoyang District to the east, and Xuanwu District to the west. It merged into the Dongcheng District in July 2010. Chongwen District was one of Beijing's more compact districts, with its geographic area being considerably less than other districts. Prior to its merger with Dongcheng District, it was the smallest of the four districts that composed the city center. The district was renowned for the Temple of Heaven and Longtan Park, as well as housing the two original (and the most authentic) Peking Duck restaurants, Quanjude and Bianyifang.

Qianmen Subdistrict (Chinese: 前门街道; pinyin: qiánmén jiēdào) is a subdistrict in the western portion of Dongcheng District, Beijing, China. In 2020, there are 9,081 permanent residents in this subdistrict.The subdistrict was named after the Zhengyangmen, a gate which used to be part of the Beijing city wall, and is colloquially known as "Qianmen" (Chinese: 前门; lit. 'Front Gate') to the locals.

The Underground City (Chinese: 地下城; pinyin: Dìxià Chéng) is a Cold War era bomb shelter consisting of a network of tunnels located beneath Beijing, China. It has also been referred to as the Underground Great Wall since it was built for the purpose of military defense. The complex was constructed from 1969 to 1979 in anticipation of a nuclear war with the Soviet Union, as Sino-Soviet relations worsened and was officially reopened in 2000. Visitors were allowed to tour portions of the complex, which has been described as "dark, damp, and genuinely eerie". Underground City has been closed for renovation since at least February 2008.

China National Technical Import and Export Corporation (CNTIC; Chinese: 中国技术进出口集团有限公司) is a Chinese state-owned global trading company, engineering firm, and front company owned and operated by the Ministry of State Security (MSS), China's principal civilian foreign intelligence agency. The company's stated current primary business is in providing services to projects of the Belt and Road Initiative. The company moved into a new corporate office complex located one block southeast of Tiananmen Square in 2021.

Beijing Tongren Hospital (北京同仁医院) is a famous [1] institution which specializes in ophthalmology and otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat medicine). Its records state that it was established in 1886 by an American Methodist church. The hospital has had to take steps, including registering its name as a trademark, in order to protect its reputation against people fraudulently using the "Tongren" title.

St. Michael's Church (French: Église Saint-Michel; traditional Chinese: 聖彌厄爾教堂; simplified Chinese: 圣弥厄尔教堂), also called Dongjiaoming Street Church (东交民巷天主堂), is a church that was formerly in the French Legation of Beijing. It was built in 1901.

Zhushikou station (Chinese: 珠市口站; pinyin: Zhūshìkǒu zhàn) is an interchange station on Line 7 and Line 8 of the Beijing Subway. The Line 7 station was opened on December 28, 2014. The Line 8 station was opened on December 30, 2018. This station served as the temporary northern terminus of the south section of line 8 until December 31, 2021, when both north and south sections of Line 8 were connected.

Chongwenmen (Chinese: 崇文門; pinyin: Chóngwénmén; Manchu: ᡧᡠᠪᡝᠸᡝᠰᡳᡥᡠᠯᡝᡵᡝᡩᡠᡴᠠ; Möllendorff: šu be wesihulere duka) was a gate that was part of Beijing's city wall in what is now Dongcheng District. The gate stood in the southeastern part of Beijing's inner city, immediately south of the old Beijing Legation Quarter. In the 1960s, the gate and much of the wall was torn down to make room for Beijing's second ring road. Today, Chongwenmen is marked by the intersection of Chongwenmen Nei (Inner) and Chongwenmen Wai (Outer) Street, which run north-south through the former gate, Chongwenmen East and Chongwenmen West Street, which run east-west where the wall stood, and Beijing Station West Street, a diagonal street, going northwest to the Beijing railway station. Chongwenmen is a transport node in Beijing. Chongwenmen Station is an interchange station on Lines 2 and 5 of the Beijing Subway. Chongwen District, an administrative division of the city from 1952 to 2010 and now folded into Dongcheng District, was named after Chongwenmen.

The Circular Mound Altar (圜丘坛 huán qiū tán) is an outdoor empty circular platform on three levels of marble stones, located in Beijing, China. It is part of the Temple of Heaven. It was constructed in 1530, during the 9th year of the Jiajing Emperor's reign in the Ming dynasty, and enlarged in 1749 (the 14th year of the Qianlong Emperor's reign in the Qing dynasty). The round terrace was first covered with deep blue glazed slabs surrounded with a white marble balustrade when it was expanded. It has a circular perimeter of 534m and a height of 5.2m This altar was also built for religious purposes, especially for ceremonies to pray for rain by the emperor in times of drought. During the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368–1911 AD), the emperors would offer sacrifices to Heaven on the day of the Winter Solstice every year. Sacrificial animals and other offerings were burned here to ensure good harvests. A common animal slaughtered here was the bull, which the people would set on fire as a sacrifice of prosperity. This ceremony was to thank Heaven and pray that everything would be good in the future.

The Temple of Heaven (traditional Chinese: 天壇; simplified Chinese: 天坛; pinyin: Tiāntán) is a complex of imperial religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest. The Temple of Heaven was inscribed as a World Heritage site in 1998 and was described as "a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design which simply and graphically illustrates a cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of one of the world's great civilizations..." as the "symbolic layout and design of the Temple of Heaven had a profound influence on architecture and planning in the Far East over many centuries."

The Supreme People's Court of the People's Republic of China (SPC; Chinese: 最高人民法院) is the highest court of the People's Republic of China. It hears appeals of cases from the high people's courts and is the trial court for cases about matters of national importance. The court also has a quasi-legislative power to issue judicial interpretations and adjudication rules on court procedure.: 182 According to the Chinese constitution, the Supreme People's Court is accountable to the National People's Congress, which prevents the court from functioning separately and independently of the governmental structure.: 14  The court has about 400 judges and more than 600 administrative personnel.: 16 The court serves as the highest court for the People's Republic of China and also for cases investigated by the Office for Safeguarding National Security in Hong Kong. The special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau have separate judicial systems based on British common law traditions and Portuguese civil law traditions respectively, and are out of the jurisdiction of the Supreme People's Court.

Tiantan Subdistrict (Chinese: 天坛街道; pinyin: Tiāntán Jiēdào) is a subdistrict on the southwest side of the Dongcheng District, Beijing, China. As of 2020, it has a population of 27,429.The subdistrict was named after Temple of Heaven, an imperial religious complex that is located in this area.
