Zhushikou station

The Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall (Chinese: 北京市规划展览馆) is an urban planning museum located at 20 Qianmen E St in the old main railway station building from 1903, beside Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China. The exhibition hall opened to the public on the 9 September 2004, and features a scale model of the entire Beijing metropolitan area, as well as multimedia exhibits on the history, current situation, and future of urban planning in Beijing.

Qianmen station (simplified Chinese: 前门站; traditional Chinese: 前門站; pinyin: Qiánmén zhàn) is a station on Line 2 and Line 8 of the Beijing Subway located near Qianmen.

Qiaowan Station (simplified Chinese: 桥湾站; traditional Chinese: 橋灣站; pinyin: Qiáowān Zhàn) is a station on Line 7 of the Beijing Subway. It was opened on December 28, 2014, as a part of the stretch between Beijing West railway station and Jiaohuachang and is located between Zhushikou and Ciqikou.

Qianmen (simplified Chinese: 前门; traditional Chinese: 前門; pinyin: Qiánmén; Wade–Giles: Ch'ien-men; lit. 'Front Gate') is the colloquial name for Zhengyangmen (simplified Chinese: 正阳门; traditional Chinese: 正陽門; pinyin: Zhèngyángmén; Wade–Giles: Cheng-yang-men; Manchu:ᡨᠣᠪᡧᡠᠨ ᡳᡩᡠᡴᠠ; Möllendorff:tob šun-i duka, literally meaning "Gate of the Zenith Sun"), a gate in Beijing's historic city wall. The gate is situated to the south of Tiananmen Square and once guarded the southern entry into the Inner City. Although much of Beijing's city walls were demolished, Zhengyangmen remains an important geographical marker of the city. The city's central north–south axis passes through Zhengyangmen's main gate. It was formerly named Lizhengmen (simplified Chinese: 丽正门; traditional Chinese: 麗正門; pinyin: Lìzhèngmén), meaning "beautiful portal".

The Beijing Museum of Natural History (BMNH; Chinese: 北京自然博物馆) is located at 126 Tian Qiao Nan Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing, 100050, and is the most popular natural history museum in China. It was founded in 1951 as the National Central Museum of Natural History, and its name was changed to the Beijing Museum of Natural History in 1962. The BMNH is the first large scale natural history museum created in China.The BMNH has total floor space of 24,000 square meters, of which 8,000 square meters are available for display and owns more than 200,000 specimens. The major display area is the Tian Jiabing Building. The collections include paleontology, ornithology, mammals and invertebrates, and include a major collection of dinosaur fossils and mounted skeletons. The BMNH also engages in significant scientific research in these areas.

The Ji Xiaolan Residence is located at No. 241 West Main Street at Zhushikou in Beijing, China. It was originally the residence of Yue Zhongqi (岳鍾琪), (a descendant of Yue Fei), the Minister of War (兵部尚書) and Governor-General of Shanxi and Gansu provinces during the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor in the Qing dynasty. Ji Yun (Ji Xiaolan) lived at this address for two periods of his life: from the age of 11 to 39, and again from the age of 48 to 82. Yuewei Cottage (Chinese: 阅微草堂; pinyin: yùewēicǎotáng) is a nickname for the residence given by Ji Xiaolan himself. He wrote Fantastic Tales By Ji Xiaolan (The Shadow Book of Ji Yun, Empress Wu Books, 2021) at this residence. In volume 15, Lend An Ear to Something Without Taking It Seriously, he wrote: "Hufang bridge used to be the residence of Weixing Gong (Yue Zhongqi). There is a stone, about seven or eight feet in height, lying in the east of the site. It is said that the stone was a gift from the Yongzheng Emperor when he began to construct the house. It was transported from Tuer mountain. It holds pride of place among all the Taihu stones in Nancheng, hence I am called The Old Man of the Lonely Stone." The original Taihu stones of Yuewei Cottage were sent back to Tuer Mountain, in Yingtai, Zhongnanhai.

The Underground City (Chinese: 地下城; pinyin: Dìxià Chéng) is a Cold War era bomb shelter consisting of a network of tunnels located beneath Beijing, China. It has also been referred to as the Underground Great Wall since it was built for the purpose of military defense. The complex was constructed from 1969 to 1979 in anticipation of a nuclear war with the Soviet Union, as Sino-Soviet relations worsened and was officially reopened in 2000. Visitors were allowed to tour portions of the complex, which has been described as "dark, damp, and genuinely eerie". Underground City has been closed for renovation since at least February 2008.

Tianqiao station (simplified Chinese: 天桥站; traditional Chinese: 天橋站; pinyin: Tiānqiáo zhàn) is a station on Line 8 of the Beijing Subway. It was opened on December 30, 2018.

The Gate of China (traditional Chinese: 中華門; simplified Chinese: 中华门; pinyin: Zhōnghuámén) was a historical ceremonial gateway in Beijing, China, located near the center of latter-day Tiananmen Square. It was demolished in 1954. This gate formed the southern gate of the Imperial City during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It was situated on the central axis of Beijing, to the north of Zhengyang Gate, and south of Tiananmen. Unlike these two defensive gates, the Gate of China was a purely ceremonial gateway, with no ramparts, but was a brick-stone structure with three gateways.

The Chairman Mao Memorial Hall (simplified Chinese: 毛主席纪念堂; traditional Chinese: 毛主席紀念堂; pinyin: Máo Zhǔxí Jìniàn Táng), also known as the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, is the final resting place of Mao Zedong, Chairman of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party from 1943 and the Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party from 1945 until his death in 1976. Although Mao had wished to be cremated, his wishes were ignored and his body was embalmed. The construction of a memorial hall as his final resting place began shortly after his death. This highly popular attraction is located in the middle of Tiananmen Square in Beijing. It stands on the previous site of the Gate of China, the southern (main) gate of the Imperial City during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The embalmed body of Chairman Mao is preserved in the cooler, central hall of the memorial hall in a glass case with dim lighting; it is guarded by a military honor guard. The memorial hall is open to the public every day except Mondays.

The Circular Mound Altar (圜丘坛 huán qiū tán) is an outdoor empty circular platform on three levels of marble stones, located in Beijing, China. It is part of the Temple of Heaven. It was constructed in 1530, during the 9th year of the Jiajing Emperor's reign in the Ming dynasty, and enlarged in 1749 (the 14th year of the Qianlong Emperor's reign in the Qing dynasty). The round terrace was first covered with deep blue glazed slabs surrounded with a white marble balustrade when it was expanded. It has a circular perimeter of 534m and a height of 5.2m This altar was also built for religious purposes, especially for ceremonies to pray for rain by the emperor in times of drought. During the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368–1911 AD), the emperors would offer sacrifices to Heaven on the day of the Winter Solstice every year. Sacrificial animals and other offerings were burned here to ensure good harvests. A common animal slaughtered here was the bull, which the people would set on fire as a sacrifice of prosperity. This ceremony was to thank Heaven and pray that everything would be good in the future.

The Temple of Heaven (traditional Chinese: 天壇; simplified Chinese: 天坛; pinyin: Tiāntán) is a complex of imperial religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest. The Temple of Heaven was inscribed as a World Heritage site in 1998 and was described as "a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design which simply and graphically illustrates a cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of one of the world's great civilizations..." as the "symbolic layout and design of the Temple of Heaven had a profound influence on architecture and planning in the Far East over many centuries."
