Blaina railway station was a station which served the small town of Blaina in the Welsh county of Monmouthshire.

Blaina ( BLEYE-nə Welsh: Blaenau Welsh pronunciation: [ˈbleɨnaɨ]) is a small town, situated deep within the South Wales Valleys between Brynmawr and Abertillery in the unitary authority of Blaenau Gwent, ancient parish of Aberystruth, preserved county of Gwent and historic county of Monmouthshire. The place name is derived from the Welsh word blaenau "uplands". As of 2011, the town has a population of 4,808.

Abertillery Comprehensive School was originally opened in 1986, on a former colliery site. This school was merged with four local primary schools.As of 2020, the school's most recent Estyn inspection was in 2018, with a judgement that the school needs significant improvement.In 2019, the school was undergoing a review of teaching, with some posts likely to be cut; at this point the school had had three headteachers in two years.

It belongs in the community of Nantyglo and Blaina.It is located 1.32 miles (2.12 km) south of Brynmawr and 3.38 miles (5.44 km) north of Abertillery. It is 21 miles (34 km) from Newport. The A467 runs near to the village.

Mynydd Carn-y-cefn (grid reference SO1808) is the name given to the broad ridge of high ground between the Ebbw Vale and the valley of the Ebbw Fach in the Valleys region of South Wales. It lies within the unitary area of Blaenau Gwent, formerly Monmouthshire. The broad-topped ridge runs NNW-SSE and achieves a summit height of 550 metres (1,800 ft) at a point crowned by a trig point at OS grid ref SO 187084 between Ebbw Vale and Blaina. It is a Marilyn with a prominence of 176 metres.
