Miramar, Havana

The International School of Havana (ISH) is an international school in Cuba, located in Miramar, Havana.

The Apostolic Nunciature to Cuba the diplomatic mission of the Holy See to Cuba. It is located at the nation's capital, in Havana. The current Apostolic Nuncio is Archbishop Giampiero Gloder, who was named to the position by Pope Francis on 11 October 2019. The Apostolic Nunciature to the Republic of Cuba is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Cuba, with the rank of an embassy. The nuncio serves both as the ambassador of the Holy See to the President of Cuba, and as delegate and point-of-contact between the Catholic hierarchy in Cuba and the Pope.

The Karl Marx Theatre (Spanish: Teatro Karl Marx) is a theatre in Havana, Cuba. It was originally known as the Teatro Blanquita, owned and built by Alfredo Hornedo, renamed to the Teatro Charles Chaplin following the Cuban Revolution of 1959, and finally received its current name in 1975. The venue has an auditorium, with seating capacity of 5,500 people, and is used for shows by stars from Cuba and abroad. In 1956, Liberace appeared on stage as part of his first international tour.

The Hotel Rosita De Hornedo (renamed Hotel Sierra Maestra), located in the Puntilla [2] area of Miramar, was one of the first major buildings to be built by a private developer in the 1950s in Havana.

La Fábrica de Arte Cubano (known locally as La Fábrica de Arte or F.A.C) is an art gallery and club in Havana, Cuba. The Fábrica's gallery and stage were established inside of a former cooking oil factory, and has since gained notoriety as one of Havana's premier nightclubs and art galas. Several news outlets have described the factory as a symbol of Cuba's accelerating opening to the world.

The Torreón de la Chorrera (Tower of la Chorrera), or to give it its full name, Fuerte de Santa Dorotea de la Luna de la Chorrera, was completed in May 1646. The tower stands on a coral islet only a few metres from the shore and not much larger than the tower itself. The tower's purpose was to impede the entry of enemy ships into the mouth of the Almendares River. The British damaged and captured the tower when they took the city in 1762, after which the tower was rebuilt in its present form. Today, the tower contains a restaurant. In 1982, the Torreón was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, along with other historic sites in Old Havana, because of the city's importance in the European conquest of the New World, its fortifications, and its unique architecture.

The Almendares River is a river that runs for 47 km in the western part of Cuba. It originates from the east of Tapaste and flows north-west into the Straits of Florida. The river acts as a water supply for Havana.The final stretch divides the municipalities of Plaza de la Revolución (Vedado district) and Playa (Miramar district). Part of the river valley forms the Almendares Park or Metropolitan Park of Havana (PMH), a few kilometers upstream from the ocean.

Estadio Nacional de Fútbol Pedro Marrero, the former home of CF Ciudad de La Habana, is a multi-purpose stadium in Havana, Cuba. It is now used primarily for football matches. The stadium holds 30,000 and was built in 1929.

Candler College and Colegio Buenavista were educational institutions founded in Havana, Cuba by the United States Southern Methodist Episcopal Church. They were founded on two different dates, Candler College in 1899 and Colegio Buenavista in 1920. They both ceased to exist in 1961 when they were nationalized by the revolutionary government of Fidel Castro.

The Acuario Nacional de Cuba (National Aquarium of Cuba) is an aquarium in Havana, Cuba established in 1960 to focus on "research and environmental education". Displays include those of coral and other tropical species, as well as a dolphinarium and sea lion shows.

The Embassy of Russia in Havana is the headquarters of the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Cuba. It is well known for its striking constructivist building in the Miramar district of the city, built by architect Aleksandr Rochegov. Some liken it to a sword, others to a syringe.

El Cementerio de Cristóbal Colón, also called La Necrópolis de Cristóbal Colón, was founded in 1876 in the Vedado neighbourhood of Havana, Cuba to replace the Espada Cemetery in the Barrio de San Lázaro. Named for Christopher Columbus, the cemetery is noted for its many elaborately sculpted memorials. It is estimated the cemetery has more than 500 major mausoleums. Before the Espada Cemetery and the Colon Cemetery were built, interments took place in crypts at the various churches throughout Havana, for example, at the Havana Cathedral or Church Crypts in Havana Vieja.
