The Central Area, commonly called the Central District or The CD, is a mostly residential district in Seattle located east of downtown and First Hill (12th Avenue and Rainier Avenue); west of Madrona, Leschi and Mt. Baker; south of Capitol Hill, and north of Rainier Valley. Historically, the Central District has been one of Seattle's most racially and ethnically diverse neighborhoods, and was once the center of Seattle's black community and a major hub of African-American businesses.

Fat's Chicken and Waffles is a primarily Southern and soul food restaurant in Seattle's Central District, in the U.S. state of Washington. Marcus Lalario opened the restaurant in 2015, in a space which previously housed Catfish Corner. Erika White later became a co-owner. The menu has included chicken and waffles, fried okra, shrimp and grits, red beans and rice, collard greens, cornbread, fried green tomatoes, and macaroni and cheese, as well as biscuits and gravy and eggs Benedict for brunch. Fat's has garnered a positive reception, especially for its fried chicken, and is considered one of the city's best Southern and brunch eateries. The exterior features a mural by James Crespinel depicting Martin Luther King Jr., which was originally painted in 1995 and later restored by the artist twice.

The Madrona–Sally Goldmark Branch Library (sometimes simply the Madrona Public Library) is a branch of Seattle Public Library, in Seattle, Washington.Serving the Central District, the library originated from the Book-Tique pilot program, established in 1971. It was renamed to commemorate community leader Sally Goldmark in 1986.The aluminum sculpture The Peaceable Kingdom by Richard Beyer was installed outside the library in 1984. Among animals depicted in the artwork is a panther, representing the Seattle Black Panthers, who were headquartered in the Madrona neighborhood. According to Brangien Davis of Seattle Magazine, "The panther represents the Black Panthers, the pig portrays the police, the sheep represent the elderly residents, and the wolf symbolizes the street toughs—all living (in an ideal past) peaceably together."

The Facts, also known as Seattle Facts, is an African-American weekly newspaper that serves Seattle, Washington. Headquartered in the Central District, it was founded September 7, 1961 by Fitzgerald Redd Beaver. Printed by Pacific Media Inc. His children, Marla, LaVonne Beaver are currently the publishers and editors. Leaving Mrs.Elizabeth Beaver as the current leader after Beaver's death in 1992 The Facts is a member of the West Coast Black Publishers Association and bills itself as the "Voice of the Black Community."

Red Cow is a restaurant in Seattle, in the U.S. state of Washington.

Feed Co. Burgers is a restaurant in Seattle's Central District, in the U.S. state of Washington. Previously a small chain of restaurants, the business originally operated in Redmond and has also operated in the Green Lake neighborhood. The current restaurant opened in October 2016, and the Redmond location closed in 2018. Feed Co. has garnered a positive reception and has been featured on the Food Network.

Madrona is a mostly residential neighborhood in east Seattle, Washington. It is bounded on the east by Lake Washington; on the south by E. Cherry Street, beyond which is Leschi; on the west by Martin Luther King Jr. Way, beyond which is the Central District; and on the north by E. Howell Street, beyond which is Denny-Blaine. The neighborhood's main thoroughfares are E. Union and E. Cherry Streets (east- and westbound), Madrona Drive (northwest- and southeast-bound), and 34th Avenue and Lake Washington Boulevard (north- and southbound). It is home to Madrona Park and the 34th Avenue and E. Union commercial area.

James A. Garfield High School is a public high school in the Seattle Public Schools district of Seattle, Washington, United States. It is named after James A. Garfield, the 20th President of the United States. Located along 23rd Avenue between E. Alder and E. Jefferson Streets in Seattle's urban Central District, Garfield draws students from all over the city. Garfield is also one of two options for the district's Highly Capable Cohort for academically highly gifted students, with the other being Ingraham International School. As a result, the school offers many college-level classes, ranging from calculus-based physics to Advanced Placement (AP) studio art.

Alvin Larkins Park is a park in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, located on the north side of E. Pike Street between 34th and 35th Avenues. The land was purchased by the city in 1973 and made into a park in 1975. In 1979, it was named after Alvin Larkins, a resident of the neighborhood from 1949 until he died in 1977.

Raised Doughnuts and Cakes is a bakery and doughnut shop in Seattle's Central District, in the U.S. state of Washington. Baker and owner Mi Kim launched the business as a pop-up in 2017, with her business partner I-Miun Liu. Raised relocated to a brick and mortar shop in mid 2018, and has since moved to the Midtown Square development.
