Hollar Hosiery Mills-Knit Sox Knitting Mills

Whisnant Hosiery Mills, also known as Moretz Mills, is a historic knitting mill located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It is a one- to two-story, trapezoidal shaped brick building consisting of contiguous sections built in 1929, 1937, the 1940s, the 1950s, and 1966. The mill closed in 2011. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. The property underwent significant rehabilitation using historic tax credits and re-opened as a mixed use space in April 2015. The property was designated a local historic landmark by the City of Hickory in August 2015.

Lenoir–Rhyne University is a private Lutheran university in Hickory, North Carolina. It was founded in 1891 and is affiliated with the North Carolina Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Hickory is a city in North Carolina primarily located in Catawba County. It is the 25th most populous city in North Carolina, with its formal boundaries extending into Burke and Caldwell counties. It is located approximately 60 miles (97 km) northwest of Charlotte. Hickory's population in the 2022 United States Census Bureau estimate was 44,084. Hickory is the main city of the Hickory–Lenoir–Morganton Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a population of 368,347 in the 2022 census. In 2014, Reader's Digest named the Hickory metro area as the 10th best place to live and raise a family in the United States. Forbes named the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton MSA the third best MSA in the country for business cost in the same year. The Hickory MSA was also identified by Smart Growth America in 2014 as being the country's most sprawling metro area.

Helen and Leonard Moretz Stadium is an 8,500-seat stadium located in Hickory, North Carolina. It serves as home to the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears of the South Atlantic Conference. Moretz Stadium is the fourth oldest stadium in continuous use in NCAA Division II and one of the oldest in the country, built in 1924. Games played there are said to be played "between the bricks" as the walls separating the seating area from the field are made up of brick, which have been a part of the design of the stadium since it opened in 1924. The Stadium currently serves as the home field for the L-R football and men's and women's lacrosse teams and also houses the university's spring commencement exercises. The Lenoir-Rhyne baseball team also used the facility as its home field until a baseball-specific ground was built across the street. In 1960, it was the site for the NAIA National Semifinal football game, which Lenoir-Rhyne won on its way to its only national championship in school history. Moretz Stadium was also home of a 1962 NAIA National Semifinal game and an NCAA Division II Semifinal game in 2013. The stadium has hosted four NCAA Playoff games in its history, all of which came in either 2012 or 2013. A July 2019 assessment discovered problems with the structural integrity of the home stand, as a result of the findings the university has decided to tear down the stand and replace it with a temporary stand for the 2019 season. The school will build a permanent replacement in 2020.

The Lyerly Full Fashioned Mill is a historic hosiery mill located in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in two stages between 1930 and 1934, and is a two-story, rectangular, nine-by-twelve bay brick building. It features a Moderne-Style 2 1/2-story stair tower. The mill remained in operation until 1957, after which the building was used as a warehouse for a number of years.The mill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007, but remained vacant until 2014, when the property was sold to Transportation Insight, a global multi-modal logistics company. The building underwent a significant rehabilitation between 2014 and 2015 to become the headquarters and flagship building for Transportation Insight's corporate campus. The property was designated a local historic landmark by the City of Hickory in 2016 and Transportation Insight received the 2016 North Carolina Main Street Award of Merit for Best Historic Rehabilitation for its work to save and rehabilitate the mill building.

Kenworth Historic District is a national historic district located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 52 contributing buildings and 2 contributing structures in the planned subdivision of Kenworth in Hickory. Most of the buildings date between the early- and mid-20th century and include notable examples of Colonial Revival and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Notable buildings include the (former) Christ Lutheran Church (1926), Kenworth Elementary School (1913), Frederick O. Bock House (1923), Nichelson-Abernethy House (1922), Speas-Duval House (1921), Clyde L. Herman House (c. 1922), Kennedy-Setzer House (1921), and Payne-Bothwell-Scheller House (1921).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, with a boundary increase in 2005.

Hickory Museum of Art (HMA) is an art museum in Hickory, North Carolina which holds exhibitions, events, and public educational programs based on a permanent collection of 19th to 21st century American art. The museum also features a long-term exhibition of Southern contemporary folk art, showcasing the work of self-taught artists from around the region. North Carolina's second-oldest museum, Hickory Museum of Art was established in 1944.

Shuford House, also known as Maple Grove, is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1875, and is a two-story, three bay frame dwelling with a central hall plan. It features a two-story porch supported by four pairs of pillars.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.Maple Grove has been restored by the Hickory Landmarks Society and operated as a late 19th-century historic house museum.

Highland School, also known as Highland Graded School, is a historic school building located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1921, and is a two-story, brick building with hipped slate roof in the Classical Revival style. It has a projecting nine-bay central pavilion. A brick "gymtorium"(which has since been torn down) and lunchroom building was built in 1950 and connected by a covered walkway. It has since been converted into the Highland School Apartments.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Dr. Glenn R. Frye House is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1937, and is a two-story, Colonial Revival style stone dwelling. It has a 1+1⁄2-story frame wing. Also on the property are the contributing garage (1937); wrought-iron balustrade, fence, and gates (1937); and stone wall (1937).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

First Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at 2nd Street and 3rd Avenue NW in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1905–1906, and is a Romanesque Revival-style church sheathed in granite. The front facade features square towers of unequal height. Attached to the church in 1928, is a three-story granite block Education Building with a flat roof and crenelated cornice. Also on the property is the former manse; a two-story, American Foursquare dwelling with a low hipped roof, overhanging eaves, and hipped dormer.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Lee & Helen George House is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1951, and is a one-story, Redwood weatherboard sheathed Modernist / Usonian-style dwelling. The house consists of a center main block with projecting rooms on each end of the façade, a rear wing, and an attached carport.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
