Hickory Museum of Art (HMA) is an art museum in Hickory, North Carolina which holds exhibitions, events, and public educational programs based on a permanent collection of 19th to 21st century American art. The museum also features a long-term exhibition of Southern contemporary folk art, showcasing the work of self-taught artists from around the region. North Carolina's second-oldest museum, Hickory Museum of Art was established in 1944.

Whisnant Hosiery Mills, also known as Moretz Mills, is a historic knitting mill located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It is a one- to two-story, trapezoidal shaped brick building consisting of contiguous sections built in 1929, 1937, the 1940s, the 1950s, and 1966. The mill closed in 2011. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. The property underwent significant rehabilitation using historic tax credits and re-opened as a mixed use space in April 2015. The property was designated a local historic landmark by the City of Hickory in August 2015.

Shuford House, also known as Maple Grove, is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1875, and is a two-story, three bay frame dwelling with a central hall plan. It features a two-story porch supported by four pairs of pillars.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.Maple Grove has been restored by the Hickory Landmarks Society and operated as a late 19th-century historic house museum.

Kenworth Historic District is a national historic district located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 52 contributing buildings and 2 contributing structures in the planned subdivision of Kenworth in Hickory. Most of the buildings date between the early- and mid-20th century and include notable examples of Colonial Revival and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Notable buildings include the (former) Christ Lutheran Church (1926), Kenworth Elementary School (1913), Frederick O. Bock House (1923), Nichelson-Abernethy House (1922), Speas-Duval House (1921), Clyde L. Herman House (c. 1922), Kennedy-Setzer House (1921), and Payne-Bothwell-Scheller House (1921).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, with a boundary increase in 2005.

First Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at 2nd Street and 3rd Avenue NW in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1905–1906, and is a Romanesque Revival-style church sheathed in granite. The front facade features square towers of unequal height. Attached to the church in 1928, is a three-story granite block Education Building with a flat roof and crenelated cornice. Also on the property is the former manse; a two-story, American Foursquare dwelling with a low hipped roof, overhanging eaves, and hipped dormer.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Hollar Hosiery Mills-Knit Sox Knitting Mills is a historic knitting mill located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It consists of two mill brick manufacturing buildings and a boiler house that were connected by a hyphen in the mid-1960s. The first mill building was built about 1930, and is a one- to two-story, 16 bay, brick veneer structure. The boiler house was also built about 1930, and is a small, brick building, with its flat roof and terra cotta coping. The hosiery yarn mill was built about 1940, and is two-story, six bay by 10 bay, brick-veneered building. Both mill buildings feature banks of steel-sash factory windows. The knitting mill operated until 1968.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Harris Arcade, also known as the Arcade Building, is a historic commercial building located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1938, and is a two-story, brick Commercial Style building, with Tudor Revival-Style arched arcade openings. It features an eight-foot wide arcade passage with a broken-tile terrazzo floor and intact late-interwar period commercial space.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Dr. Glenn R. Frye House is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1937, and is a two-story, Colonial Revival style stone dwelling. It has a 1+1⁄2-story frame wing. Also on the property are the contributing garage (1937); wrought-iron balustrade, fence, and gates (1937); and stone wall (1937).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Hickory Southwest Downtown Historic District is a national historic district located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 8 contributing buildings in the central business district of Hickory. Notable buildings include the Hickory Passenger Depot (1912), Classical Revival style U.S. Post Office (1914, 1961) designed by Office of the Supervising Architect under Oscar Wenderoth, Harper Motor Company (1928), Hickory Bonded Warehouse (c. 1885), Hickory Overall Office (c. 1922), Hickory Roller Covering Office (c. 1922), and the Armory (1911-1912).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Helen and Leonard Moretz Stadium is an 8,500-seat stadium located in Hickory, North Carolina. It serves as home to the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears of the South Atlantic Conference. Moretz Stadium is the fourth oldest stadium in continuous use in NCAA Division II and one of the oldest in the country, built in 1924. Games played there are said to be played "between the bricks" as the walls separating the seating area from the field are made up of brick, which have been a part of the design of the stadium since it opened in 1924. The Stadium currently serves as the home field for the L-R football and men's and women's lacrosse teams and also houses the university's spring commencement exercises. The Lenoir-Rhyne baseball team also used the facility as its home field until a baseball-specific ground was built across the street. In 1960, it was the site for the NAIA National Semifinal football game, which Lenoir-Rhyne won on its way to its only national championship in school history. Moretz Stadium was also home of a 1962 NAIA National Semifinal game and an NCAA Division II Semifinal game in 2013. The stadium has hosted four NCAA Playoff games in its history, all of which came in either 2012 or 2013. A July 2019 assessment discovered problems with the structural integrity of the home stand, as a result of the findings the university has decided to tear down the stand and replace it with a temporary stand for the 2019 season. The school will build a permanent replacement in 2020.

Ridgeview Public Library is a historic former library located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1951, and is a one-story, brick veneer building with Colonial Revival-style design elements. It was moved to its present location in 1998, when it was replaced with the new Ridgeview Branch Library. The library was constructed to serve the African-American neighborhood of Ridgeview.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Hickory Municipal Building is a historic municipal building located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1920–1921, and is a two-story brick building in the Classical Revival style. It has a three-story auditorium. The front facade features a one-story limestone portico, protecting the center entrance. In 1977, the city administrative offices were relocated to the new city hall. It houses the Hickory Community Theatre.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
