The Zebulon B. Vance Birthplace is a historic site located in Weaverville, Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States. The site is owned and operated by the North Carolina Division of State Historic Sites.The site is located in the Reems Creek Valley, and was originally a mountain plantation. The historic site explores daily life in the early 1800s in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Visitors can see the historic structures, including a loom house, tool shed, spring house, smoke house, and corn crib. Guided tours show visitors a 1790 slave house and discuss the eighteen enslaved people that lived and worked on the Vance farm. Tours conclude at the reconstructed 1790s Vance home. Zebulon Baird Vance was born on the property in 1830, and went on to be Governor of North Carolina (1877–1879) and U.S. Senator (1879–1894). The farm features an exhibit about Vance's career, and how this early mountain life influenced him.

Vance Cemetery is a cemetery at the end of Vance Cemetery Road in Weaverville, North Carolina. The cemetery opened in 1813 when the namesake David Vance, Sr. was buried. His will stated that he was to be buried above his peach orchard. David Vance, Sr. was the grandfather of Zebulon Baird Vance, the Civil War Governor of North Carolina. The cemetery is still functioning today. There are a large number of children buried in the cemetery, victims of the Spanish flu.

Bull Gap (el. 3,107 ft (947 m)) is a mountain pass on Bull Mountain, part of the Great Craggy Mountains. Though the Blue Ridge Parkway doesn't go through the gap, it is the most immediate to it and is accessible by hiking.

Craven Gap (el. 3,132 ft (955 m)) is a mountain pass between Peach Knob and Rice Knob, part of the Elk Mountains and Great Craggy Mountains. NC 694 (Town Mountain Road) connects with the Blue Ridge Parkway at the gap, where it provides direct access to downtown Asheville. The gap also has trails for hikers and is a popular bicycle rest area.

Weaverville United Methodist Church is a historic United Methodist church located at Weaverville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. It was built in 1919–1920, and is a two-story, five-bay, brick church with Classical Revival and Late Gothic Revival design influences. The front facade features a two-story, three-bay portico. Attached to the church is the educational building constructed in 1956–1957.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Richard Sharp Smith House, now known as Stoneybrook, is a historic home located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. It was designed and built by architect Richard Sharp Smith in 1902–1903. It is a 1+1⁄2-story, stone and stucco American Craftsman / bungalow style dwelling. It features a projecting front gable bay and leaded glass windows.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The governor's primary residence is the North Carolina Executive Mansion in Raleigh. The western residence is one of five or fewer state-owned second homes in the United States.

Douglas Ellington House is a historic home located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. It was built in 1926 by architect Douglas Ellington, and is an eclectic stone and brick cottage set into its terraced, hillside site. It consists of a two-bay, 1+1⁄2-story brick "cottage" under a broad-eaved, wood shingled hip roof; a five-bay, uncoursed stone central block; and a traditional, single-room log cabin, said to have been on the property when Ellington's brother, Kenneth Ellington, bought it. They thought it to be over 100 years old.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

North Buncombe High School is a public high school in Weaverville, North Carolina accommodating over 1000 students in grades 9–12. The school's mascot is the Black Hawk and the school principal is Kevin Yontz.North Buncombe High School was built after the decision to build larger schools and a $5.5 million bond that county voters approved. William B. Brackett designed the $658,000 building housing 200 students, which opened August 26, 1954 on 31 acres, the first to open under the new plan. Barnardsville, Flat Creek, Red Oak, French Broad High Schools became K–8 schools and Weaverville High School became Weaverville Middle School (grades 7'8). In 1987, a new school opened on the former site of Asheville-Weaverville Speedway. The old high school building then became North Buncombe Middle School. North Buncombe High School houses the DeBruhl auditorium. The marching band has won numerous awards.
