Walter M. Williams High School, the flagship school of the Alamance-Burlington School System, is a high school (grades 9–12) in Burlington, North Carolina, United States. It was named in honor of philanthropist, industrialist, and former Burlington City Schools chairman Walter M. Williams. The school entered its eighth decade of operation in the 2022 school year. It has been recognized by the United States Department of Education as one of the top six high schools in North Carolina, and received the Blue Ribbon School designation in 1993. As of 2008, 30% of the staff held advanced degrees, and eleven staff members held national board teacher certification.The campus is bordered on the north by Sunset Drive and Parkview Drive, to the east by Arlington Avenue, to the southeast by South Church Street (on which street the campus actually has its address), to the south by Country Club Drive (an homage to the property being the former site of a country club), and to the west by Tarleton Avenue. Bulldog Alley, a north–south private campus street, intersects the campus with athletic facilities to the west and academic facilities to the east.

It encompasses 138 contributing buildings in a primarily middle-class residential section of Burlington. Most of the dwellings date to the late-19th and early-20th century and include representative examples of Queen Anne and Colonial Revival style architecture.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

South Broad–East Fifth Streets Historic District is a national historic district in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. It encompasses 108 contributing buildings in a primarily residential section of Burlington. Most of the buildings are houses, one to two stories high, built between the 1890s and the 1940s in late Victorian, Queen Anne, American Craftsman, and Colonial Revival styles of frame or brick construction.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

The former US Post Office, also known as the US Post Office/Federal Building, is an historic red brick post office building located at 430 South Spring Street in downtown Burlington, North Carolina. Built in 1936, it was designed in a mixture of the Classical Revival and Moderne or Art Deco styles by architect R. Stanley Brown who worked under Louis A. Simon, head of the Office of the Supervising Architect.In the building's lobby are two wall murals by WPA artist Arthur L. Bairnsfather, which commemorate Burlington's history as a textile manufacturing center.Since November 3, 1987, the building has been owned by Roche Biomedical Laboratories, Inc., a subsidiary of Hoffmann-La Roche, Inc.On September 23, 1988, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is located in the Downtown Burlington Historic District.

May Hosiery Mills Knitting Mill is a historic building that was built as an early 20th-century hosiery knitting mill in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. Built in 1928, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Alamance Hotel is a historic hotel located at Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Charles C. Hartmann and built in 1924. It is a seven-story, brick sheathed building in the Classical Revival style. It features terra cotta ornamentation, a brick parapet, and stuccoed panels at the uppermost floor.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It is located in the Downtown Burlington Historic District.

Burlington is a city in Alamance and Guilford counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It is the principal city of the Burlington, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Alamance County, in which most of the city is located, and is a part of the Greensboro–Winston-Salem–High Point, NC Combined Statistical Area. The population was 57,303 at the 2020 census, which makes Burlington the 18th-most populous city in North Carolina.

Stagg House, also known as the Dr. Bradley House, is a historic home located at Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. It was built between 1857 and 1859, and is a two-story, T-shaped, frame dwelling. Connected to the main block are numerous one-story wings that appear to date to the late-19th century. It has a large wraparound porch and features a rectangular projecting front bay with tall and narrow windows. It is one of only a few antebellum houses surviving in Burlington.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

It encompasses 40 contributing buildings in the central business district of Burlington, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.The district includes commercial, industrial, and transportation-related buildings. The majority of the buildings are one to three-story brick commercial buildings dating to the mid-19th and early-20th centuries. First Christian Church of Burlington is a historic church located at 415 S. Church Street in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. The church was built in 1920, and is a Neoclassical Revival style church building with an Akron Plan interior. The building features two main temple facades and a dome. A three-story educational building was constructed in 1953.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Efird Building is a historic commercial building located at Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. It was built in 1919, and is a three-story, Gothic Revival style building. The front facade is sheathed in white enamelled terra cotta tile. It housed a branch of Efird's Department Store based in Albemarle, North Carolina.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It is located in the Downtown Burlington Historic District.
