Bottesford railway station

St Mary the Virgin's Church is in the village of Bottesford, Leicestershire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Framland, the archdeaconry of Leicester and the diocese of Leicester. Its benefice is united with those of eight local parishes. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building.

The Priory Belvoir Academy (formerly Belvoir High School) is a mixed secondary school located in Bottesford in the English county of Leicestershire. The school previously also operated Melton Vale Post 16 Centre in Melton Mowbray.

Belvoir was a rural district in Leicestershire, England from 1894 to 1935. It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 from the part of the Grantham Rural Sanitary District that was in Leicestershire. It was a small district, named after the village of Belvoir and contained nine parishes: Barkestone Belvoir Bottesford Croxton Kerrial Harston Knipton Muston Plungar RedmileUnder the County Review Orders of the 1930s it was merged with the Melton Rural District to form the Melton and Belvoir Rural District. The merger took effect in 1935.

Bottesford South railway station was a railway station serving the village of Bottesford, Leicestershire, on the Great Northern and London and North Western Joint Railway. It opened in 1879 and was served by LNWR trains running between Northampton and Newark and Great Northern Railway trains running between Melton Mowbray and Grantham. The station closed when the Northampton to Newark through service was withdrawn and replaced by an infrequent connecting service in 1882.

Royal Air Force Bottesford or more simply RAF Bottesford is a former Royal Air Force station located on the Leicestershire-Lincolnshire county border, 6.8 miles (10.9 km) north west of Grantham, Lincolnshire and 7.6 miles (12.2 km) south of Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire and about 107 miles (172 km) north-northwest of London, England. Opened in 1942, it was used by both the Royal Air Force (RAF) and United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). During World War II it was used primarily as a troop carrier airfield for paratroopers and as a bomber airfield before closing in 1948. Today the remains of the airfield are located on private property with the technical site being used as an industrial estate.One of the runways is currently used by Cazoo for storing cars and the control tower used as an office.

Muston (pronounced Musson) is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Bottesford, in the Melton district, in north-east Leicestershire, England. It is 18.6 miles (29.9 km) east of Nottingham, five miles (8.0 km) west of Grantham on the A52 and 12.5 miles (20.1 km) north of Melton Mowbray. It lies on the Leicestershire/Lincolnshire county border, two miles east of Bottesford. The River Devon (pronounced Deevon) flows through the village. In 1931 the parish had a population of 218. On 1 April 1936 the parish was abolished and merged with Bottesford.

Muston Meadows is an 8.8-hectare (22-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Muston in Leicestershire. It is also a National Nature Reserve and a Nature Conservation Review site.These ridge and furrow meadows are on soils derived from clay. Herbs include green-winged orchid, lady's bedstraw, yellow rattle, pepper saxifrage and cowslip.The site is in two different areas, both of which are open to the public. At Muston Meadows, hay is cut in late summer and over winter the meadow is grazed by cattle. This prevents the meadow habitat from transitioning to forest through ecological succession. Some of the plants in the nature reserve only grow in meadows and this kind of habitat is very threatened in the UK; 97% of Britain's wildflower meadows have been destroyed since the 1930s.

Alverton can also be a variant of Alverston or Alton.Alverton is an English hamlet in the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire. It is joined by neighbouring Kilvington to form an area for a parish meeting. It contains 22 houses, surrounded by farmland. The River Devon and its tributary, the Winter Beck, run along its eastern border. It is covered by the civil parish of Staunton.

Debdale Meadow, Muston is a 4.3-hectare (11-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Muston in Leicestershire.This traditionally managed meadow has diverse flora typical of the clay soils of the Midlands, and it has evidence of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation. Flora include cowslip, bulbous buttercup and pepper-saxifrage.The site is private land with no public access.

Kilvington is a hamlet and civil parish in Nottinghamshire, England, part of the Newark and Sherwood district. Dr Robert Thoroton in Antiquities of Nottinghamshire mentions enclosure 'about the Year 1750', but an Act of Parliament to enclose about 400 acres was passed in 1804 and the Award, mentioning 410 acres of the township of Alverton in Staunton, together with Kilvington, is dated 1810.It is combined with its neighbouring parish of Alverton to form an area for a parish meeting. Population information is included in the civil parish of Staunton.

Redmile is an English village and civil parish in the Melton district of Leicestershire, about ten miles (16 km) north of Melton Mowbray and seven miles (11 km) west of Grantham. The population of the civil parish, which includes Barkestone-le-Vale and Plungar, was 921 at the 2011 census, up from 829 in 2001.
