Schöckl

The Buchkogel, at 656 meters above sea level, is a hill in the Austrian state of Styria. It is located in the southern part of the Grazer Bergland in the west of the state capital Graz. The mixed forests within the Plabutsch ridge serve as a popular recreation area. Parts of the karstified hill were settled back in the Chalcolithic period and served for limonite mining during the Middle Ages and World War II. On the top there is the historical Kronprinz Rufolf observation tower built in 1879. The name Buchkogel is either derived from a lost castle (German Burg) or the extensive beech (German Buche) population.

Schöckl Transmitter is a facility for FM- and TV-transmission on the Schöckl Mountain in Steiermark, Austria. It uses as an antenna tower, a 100-metre-high lattice tower, which was built in 1956. The tower of Schöckl transmitter was originally completely free-standing, but it was in recent times additionally guyed.

Ehrenfels Castle (German: Burg Ehrenfels/ Klamm bei Radegund) is a castle in Styria, Austria. Burg Ehrenfels is 481 metres (1,578 ft) above sea level.

Stattegg has 2982 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2021) and consists of 13 Katastralgemeinden: Buch, Eichberg, Hochgreit, Hohenberg, Hub, Kalkleiten, Krail, Leber, Mühl, Neudorf, Rannach, Steingraben, Ursprung.

The Baroque Mariatrost Basilica on top of the Purberg hill in Mariatrost, a district of Graz, is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites of Styria in Austria.The pilgrimage church stands prominently on top of the Purberg hill (469 m) in the northeast of Graz. It can be reached using the 200 or more steps of the Angelus stair. The basilica is classified as a Baroque building. Two front towers (61 m) and a dome, visible from a great distance, are the characteristic attributes of the church, which is enclosed by two projecting wings of a former monastery once occupied by the Pauline Fathers (1708–86) and later by the Franciscans (1842–1996).The building was begun in 1714 by Andreas Stengg and his son Johann Georg Stengg and finished in 1724. The pulpit by Veit Königer (1730/31) is the masterpiece of the furnishings. The frescoes on the ceiling by Lukas von Schram and Johann Baptist Scheidt are of particular importance.The main altar includes a statue of the Madonna originally created in the Gothic period around 1465, but altered to the Baroque style in 1695 by Bernhard Echter.Father David Bauer, a Canadian ice hockey coach and Basilian priest, attracted a following while coaching in Austria and conducted mass on several occasions at the basilica.On 28 October 1999 the church was nominated as a basilica minor.The Mariatrost Basilica is the second most important Marian shrine of Styria after Mariazell Basilica.

The Tramway Museum Graz is a transport museum in the Austrian city of Graz, specialising in the history of the Graz tramway network. It is located in the former tram depot at the Mariatrost terminus of Graz tram route 1.The museum houses a collection of some 30 rail vehicles, including motor trams, trailers, works cars, horse cars and funicular cars. While most vehicles are from Graz, there are also exhibits from Vienna, Innsbruck, Dubrovnik and New York.The building housing the museum was originally the depot of the Kleinbahn Graz–Mariatrost, a metre gauge electric railway that was subsequently regauged to standard gauge and incorporated into the Graz tramway system. It is near to the Mariatrost Basilica, a much visited pilgrimage church. The museum is only open on occasional open days, of which there were four in 2013, or by appointment.

The Lurgrotte karst cave is the largest cave in the Eastern Alps of Styria, Austria. It is located about 16 km (9.9 mi) north of Graz and crosses the Tannenben karst region. The cave has two accessible entrances, one at the village of Semriach and the other at the village of Peggau. At the Semriach entrance, the Lur River sinks into the cave. At the Peggau entrance, the Schmelz River emerges from within the cave, flowing to the west and eventually joining the Mur River.
