Clayworth is a village and civil parish in Nottinghamshire, England. At the time of the 2001 census it had a population of 319, increasing to 419 at the 2011 Census. The village is located 6 miles (9.7 km) north-east of Retford, on the River Idle. Clayworth appears as Clavord in the Doomsday Book, where 37 households were registered in the parish, which in the context of the Doomsday Book was considered to be a large population. At that time Clayworth paid low amounts of tax at 2 geld units. By 1769 Clayworth appears as Cloworth. Clayworth was described in John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles of 1887 as having a population of 439, with 2,076 acres of land.

Gringley on the Hill, Nottinghamshire, is an English village and parish. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 699. It is on the highest part of the road from Bawtry to Gainsborough, six miles east-southeast of the former, and the same distance west by north of the latter town.

Everton is a village and civil parish in Nottinghamshire, England. Located on the A631 between Gainsborough and Bawtry, it is part of Bassetlaw district. The parish includes the village of Harwell. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 839. There are 23 grade II listed buildings in the village. The village is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086–7 as Evretone. Everton was originally a Danish settlement by the name of Eofor-tun. For the majority of its history Everton's inhabitants have been farmers. Everton is twinned with the French village of Bouy in Champagne Ardenne, France. Everton Mill was a four-storey brick tower windmill built c. 1820. It was sold along with a watermill to farmer James Taylor by Will Templence in 1848. The sails were removed in 1930, the mill being worked by steam engines installed in 1898 in a nearby engine house. The mill was still working in the 1940s but was closed c. 1950 and the machinery dismantled. The mill tower is still standing.

Mattersey is a village in Nottinghamshire, England. It is located about 6 miles north of Retford and sits close to the border of Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, being just under 13 miles from Doncaster. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 779, increasing to 792 at the 2011 Census.Within the parish lies the settlement of Mattersey Thorpe, originally consisting of a few farms. During World War II many poorly built bungalows were constructed. The streets thus formed were named after prominent figures of the war. (Keyes, Bloomfield, Churchill, Bader, Wavell, Cunningham etc.) The parish church of All Saints is 14th century. About a mile to the east of the village are the remains of Mattersey Priory on a gravel island in the River Idle.On 21 January 1999, four people died when a Tornado GR1 jet from RAF Cottesmore collided with a Cessna light aircraft above the village. The Cessna crashed into sugar-beet fields close to a school while the Tornado continued flying over woodland spilling fuel before crashing into fields about a mile away, exploding before impact. The Tornado was on a training mission, the Italian trainee was ejected from the aircraft on impact, some local villagers witnessed the parachute descending but it is thought he hadn't survived the initial impact of the two aircraft.

Mattersey Hall is a Christian College with the vision: 'to help form the next generation of Christian leaders.' Mattersey Hall is the main training centre for the Assemblies of God in Great Britain, located in Mattersey, near Retford, in Nottinghamshire, England. It is also the home of the National Ministry Centre of British Assemblies of God. At undergraduate level, a BA in Biblical Studies & Theology is taught onsite or by distance learning, and at postgraduate level, MAs in Biblical Studies, Practical Theology and Missional Leadership are offered as taught programmes. Doctor of Ministry, MPhil and PhD courses are also available. The College offers short courses where Year 1 modules can be studied intensively over one to two weeks. The current Principal is Dr Glenn Balfour and Vice-Principal is Steven Jenkins.
