Mattersey

All Saints' Church, Mattersey is a Grade I listed parish church in the Church of England in Mattersey.

Mattersey Hall is a Christian College with the vision: 'to help form the next generation of Christian leaders.' Mattersey Hall is the main training centre for the Assemblies of God in Great Britain, located in Mattersey, near Retford, in Nottinghamshire, England. It is also the home of the National Ministry Centre of British Assemblies of God. At undergraduate level, a BA in Biblical Studies & Theology is taught onsite or by distance learning, and at postgraduate level, MAs in Biblical Studies, Practical Theology and Missional Leadership are offered as taught programmes. Doctor of Ministry, MPhil and PhD courses are also available. The College offers short courses where Year 1 modules can be studied intensively over one to two weeks. The current Principal is Dr Glenn Balfour and Vice-Principal is Steven Jenkins.

Bassetlaw is a parliamentary constituency in Nottinghamshire, represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since the 2019 general election by Brendan Clarke-Smith, a Conservative. Before that election, the seat had been part of the so-called "red wall", being held by the Labour Party since 1929.

It is bounded to the north by the Metropolitan Boroughs of Doncaster and Rotherham, the east by West Lindsey, the west by both the Borough of Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire and the south by Mansfield District and Newark and Sherwood. The district is along with Bolsover District, North East Derbyshire and Borough of Chesterfield is a non-constituent member of the Sheffield City Region.

Mattersey Thorpe is a small village in the Bassetlaw district of northern Nottinghamshire, England. It is 134 miles (216 km) north of London, 32 miles (51 km) north of the county town and city of Nottingham, and 5+1⁄2 miles (8.9 km) north of the town of Retford. It is in the civil parish of Mattersey.

Everton is a village and civil parish in Nottinghamshire, England. Located on the A631 between Gainsborough and Bawtry, it is part of Bassetlaw district. The parish includes the village of Harwell. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 839. There are 23 grade II listed buildings in the village. The village is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086–7 as Evretone. Everton was originally a Danish settlement by the name of Eofor-tun. For the majority of its history Everton's inhabitants have been farmers. Everton is twinned with the French village of Bouy in Champagne Ardenne, France. Everton Mill was a four-storey brick tower windmill built c. 1820. It was sold along with a watermill to farmer James Taylor by Will Templence in 1848. The sails were removed in 1930, the mill being worked by steam engines installed in 1898 in a nearby engine house. The mill was still working in the 1940s but was closed c. 1950 and the machinery dismantled. The mill tower is still standing.

Mattersey Priory is a former monastery of the Gilbertine order, located near the village of Mattersey, Nottinghamshire, England. It is currently managed by English Heritage.

Harwell is a hamlet in the civil parish of Everton, in Bassetlaw district, northern Nottinghamshire, England. It is located off the A631 road, less than a mile to the northwest of Everton and three miles northeast of Bawtry. Although only a small settlement, historically Harwell had a separate manor. The hamlet had a population of 112 people in the mid 19th century and the Corporation of Newark were lords of the manor at that time. Today, the main feature of Harwell is the Grade II listed Pear Tree House and the Barrow Hills woodland, immediately to the northwest.

Lound is a village in Nottinghamshire, England, four miles north of Retford. It has a population of 493, reducing to 471 at the 2011 census. The village is of Danish origin dating from the 8th century with a street (Town Street) running along the spine of the village, leading on to Lound Low Road. The oldest houses are tofts which are endways on to the street with strips of land running back from the road. Nearby villages are Sutton cum Lound and Mattersey. Lound is situated on a rise of land next to the flood plain of the river Idle. This has created large deposits of sand and gravel on the east side of the village.Activities at Lound are water skiing, fishing, horse riding, walking, bird watching. Some of these are situated in and around the open waters created by sand and gravel workings. Wetlands Wildfowl Reserve is situated on the outskirts of the village and there are also reserves belonging to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and Daneshill Lakes recreation area nearby. The Lound Bird Club [1] records bird life using the gravel quarries and surrounding woodland and farmland in this section of the River Idle Valley. Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust [2] has extended its ownership at its Idle Valley Nature Reserve and runs a programme of community focussed events from the Idle Valley Rural Learning Centre operated by North Nottinghamshire College.

Wiseton is a small village, country estate and civil parish, Nottinghamshire, England, situated between the villages of Gringley-on-the-Hill and Everton, approximately 5.6 miles (9.0 km) southeast of Bawtry and 7.7 miles (12.4 km) west of Gainsborough. There is also a nearby hamlet called New Wiseton. The Chesterfield Canal flows nearby, and there are several bridges in the vicinity.

The Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF) Ranskill was a United Kingdom Ministry of Supply, World War II, Explosive ROF. It was built to manufacture cordite and the site was located adjacent to what is now known as the East Coast Main Line railway at Ranskill, Nottinghamshire, just north of the town of Retford.
