Jilava

The Ciorogârla is a left tributary of the river Sabar in Romania. It discharges into the Sabar in Jilava. Its length is 57 km (35 mi) and its basin size is 149 km2 (58 sq mi). For the flood protection of the city of Bucharest the floods of the Dâmbovița are diverted at Brezoaele into the Ciorogârla.

Jilava Prison (Romanian: Penitenciarul București–Jilava) is a prison located in Jilava, a village south of Bucharest, Romania.

The Jilava massacre took place during the night of November 26, 1940, at Jilava Prison, near Bucharest, Romania. Sixty-four political detainees were killed by the Iron Guard (Legion), with further high-profile assassinations in the immediate aftermath. It came about halfway through the fascist National Legionary State and led to the first open clash between the Guard and conducător Ion Antonescu, who ousted the Legion from power in January 1941.

1 Decembrie is a commune in the south of Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania, composed of a single village, 1 Decembrie. It also included Copăceni village until 2005, when it was split off to form a separate commune. It has a population of 8,206, of which 8,067 (96.08%) are Romanians and 263 (3.84%) are Roma.Originally named Copăcenii de Sus, in the 1930s the village changed its name to Regele Ferdinand, in memory of King Ferdinand of Romania. After the Communist takeover in mid-1940s, the name was changed to 30 Decembrie (December 30), to commemorate the day when the country became a republic in 1947. In 1996, following the Romanian Revolution, the name was changed to 1 Decembrie (December 1) - the day when the Kingdom of Romania was united with Transylvania in 1918.

Măgurele is a town situated in the southwestern part of Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania. It has a population of 11,000 and hosts several research institutes.

Giurgiului (Romanian pronunciation: [ˈdʒjurdʒjuluj]) is a neighborhood in the southern part of the Romanian capital Bucharest, in Sector 5, near Berceni and Ferentari. Like Berceni, Giurgiului has plenty of 10-storey blocks of flats that were built under Communist rule, starting with 1959–1964. The estimated population is between 30,000 and 40,000. Before the Communists started their massive building programme, Giurgiului was a farming village. After 1948 the village was added to the city area. A few years later in the south of the neighborhood a pipe factory was built along with a power plant, CET Berceni. Giurgiului has a cemetery, which includes a memorial to an estimated 300 Jewish refugees who had sailed from Romania aboard the motor schooner Mefküre and were killed when a Soviet submarine sank the ship in August 1944.

Grand Arena is located south of Bucharest in Berceni district, at the crossroad between Turnu Măgurele Street, Metalurgiei Boulevard and Gilăului Road, in the proximity of a large do-it-yourself store and cash and carry. It is anchored by Carrefour Hypermarket and it is served by an underground parking lot with approximately 2,000 car places.

Copăceni is a commune in Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania, established in 2005 when it was split off from 1 Decembrie. It is composed of a single village, Copăceni.

ANEFS Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Bucharest, Romania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Comprest GIM București and Electrica București. The stadium holds 6,000 people. It was also known as Rocar Stadium, but after ANEFS bought the stadium it renamed it.
