Gumley

Harborough () is a constituency covering the south east of Leicestershire represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2017 by Neil O'Brien of the Conservative Party. It is considered a safe seat for the Conservative Party, as there has been a Conservative representative elected since 1924 (with a brief 5 year interlude from the Labour Party in 1945). Under the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the constituency will only be subject to minor boundary changes, but is to be renamed Harborough, Oadby and Wigston - to be first contested at the next general election.

Foxton Locks (grid reference SP691895) are ten canal locks consisting of two "staircases" each of five locks, located on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal about 3 miles (5 km) west of the Leicestershire town of Market Harborough. They are named after the nearby village of Foxton. They form the northern terminus of a 20-mile (32 km) summit level that passes Husbands Bosworth, Crick and ends with the Watford flight Alongside the locks is the site of the Foxton Inclined Plane, built in 1900 to resolve the operational restrictions imposed by the lock flight. It was not a commercial success and only remained in full-time operation for ten years. It was dismantled in 1926, but a project to re-create it commenced in the 2000s, since the locks remain a bottleneck for boat traffic.

The Foxton Inclined Plane is a canal inclined plane on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal about 5 km (3.1 mi) west of the Leicestershire town of Market Harborough, named after the nearby village of Foxton. The plane was built in 1900 as a solution to various operational restrictions imposed by the Foxton Lock flight. However, it was not a commercial success and only remained in full-time operation for ten years. The plane was dismantled in 1926. A project to re-create the plane commenced in the 2000s because the narrowbeam locks remain a bottleneck for leisure boat traffic.

Smeeton Westerby is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district, located approximately nine miles south east from Leicester. Smeeton Westerby is situated in the Leicestershire countryside. It is close to Saddington, Kibworth and Fleckney and is situated 500m North of the Grand union canal. Smeeton Westerby is approximately 6.8 miles from the nearest railway station which is located in Market Harborough. The closest area for shops is Kibworth, which is approximately 1.4 miles North of Smeeton Westerby. Kibworth has numerous shops and in 2002 many new shops appeared, including a new branch of the Co-op UK. Smeeton Westerby doesn't have any shops of its own but it does have a traditional village pub, a village hall, a parish church plus several stables and farms.

Saddington Reservoir is a canal reservoir and 19.1 hectares (47 acres) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Saddington in Leicestershire. The reservoir was built between 1793 and 1797 to supply water to the Grand Union canal.The reservoir has a range of wetland habitats, such as open water, wet willow woodland and swamp. There are a number of nationally scarce beetles, such as Carabus monilis, Atheta basicornis, Eledona agricola and Gyrophaena lucidula.There is public access to the site.

Laughton is a small village and parish situated in Leicestershire, approximately 5 miles west of Market Harborough. Old buildings dominate Laughton with currently only two modern buildings situated in the village. There is a row of cottages opposite the church that has parts dating back to medieval times. The church itself dates back to the 13th century and had a major renovation in 1879. The population is included in the civil parish of Gumley.

Papillon Hall was a house in Lubenham, Market Harborough, England that was built in about 1620 and demolished in 1950.

Foxton is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district, in the county of Leicestershire, England, to the north-west of Market Harborough. The village is on the Grand Union Canal and is a short walk to the site of the Foxton Locks and Foxton Inclined Plane. Swingbridge Street still has a working swing bridge that allows people and vehicles to pass over the canal, which can be opened to allow canal boats to pass. There are two public houses in the village, a village hall, and a primary school. Foxton is serviced by Market Harborough train station which is approximately 3 miles away. London and Birmingham can each be reached by train in approximately 50 minutes.

Kibworth Cricket Club New Ground is a cricket ground in Kibworth, Leicestershire, England. The ground replaced the original Kibworth Cricket Club Ground which was sold for development at the end of the 2005 season. The New Ground is located directly next to the development which covers the old ground. The first match on the ground was in 2006, when Kibworth Cricket Club played a Leicestershire CCC XI as part of Darren Maddy's benefit year. The Leicestershire Second XI played the Warwickshire Second XI in the grounds first Second XI Championship fixture in August 2010.The ground held its first Women's One Day International in 2010 when Ireland women played New Zealand. Days later it held it second when England women played Ireland women.The ground is the home venue of Kibworth Cricket Club. whose first XI play in the Leicestershire Premier Cricket League.

Kibworth railway station was opened by the Midland Railway in 1857 on what is now the Midland Main Line.

Saddington is a village in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England. It is close to Smeeton Westerby, Gumley, Kibworth and Fleckney. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 309.It is a small hilltop village close to and south of Fleckney. It overlooks the Saddington Reservoir, constructed in 1802 to feed the Grand Union Canal. The canal flows through the parish including in a tunnel of 0.5 miles (0.80 km). The church of St Helen in medieval style largely dates from 1872–73 and retains an original 13th century north doorway and other masonry of around 1300 and around 1400.The Saddington Treacle Mine is a notable fictional local attraction, often referred to by locals of the surrounding villages. Saddington is also home to the Manor Farm Riding School along the main street next to the church of St Helen.

Kibworth is an area of the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England, that contains two civil parishes: the villages of Kibworth Beauchamp and Kibworth Harcourt . At the 2011 census, Kibworth Beauchamp had a population of 5,433 and Kibworth Harcourt 990. The villages are divided by the Midland Main Line. Kibworth is close to Foxton Locks, Market Harborough, and Leicester.
