Electoral district of Abbotsford was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. Abbotsford was created by the post-Federation Electoral Districts Boundaries Act 1903 coming into effect in 1904 when 42 districts were abolished (including Jolimont and West Richmond) and 24 new ones created resulting in 65 districts. The district of Abbotsford was defined as: Commencing at the intersection of Hoddle-street and Bridge-road ; thence north by Hoddle-street to Reilly-street; thence east by that street to the Merri Creek ; thence southerly by that creek and the Yarra River to Campbell's-parade ; thence west by Campbell's-parade to Gleadell-street; thence north by that street to Highett-street; thence west by that street to Church-street; thence south by Church-street to Bridge-road ; and thence west by Bridge-road to the commencing point. now Alexandra Parade now Bridge Road

Richmond is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It is currently a 14 km² electorate in the inner east of Melbourne, encompassing the suburbs of Richmond, Cremorne, Burnley, Abbotsford, Collingwood, Clifton Hill, North Fitzroy and Fitzroy. Historically a very safe seat for the Labor Party, Richmond has in recent elections become increasingly marginal against the Greens, who narrowly failed to win it at the 2014 Victorian State election.

North Richmond is an official unbounded neighbourhood located in inner Melbourne in the vicinity of North Richmond railway station. It is in the local government area of the City of Yarra. Victoria Street, Richmond Post Office opened on 3 November 1906 and was renamed Richmond North in 1924. An earlier Richmond North office was open from 1873 until 1880.

The Melba Memorial Conservatorium of Music was a school of music located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. During its early days it was closely associated with opera diva Dame Nellie Melba, after whom it was later named. In 1994 it became affiliated with Victoria University. Founded in 1901 as "The Conservatorium of Music, Melbourne", the Melba Conservatorium ceased teaching at the end of 2008. However, it finds its continuing expression in the form of Melba Opera Trust.

The City of Yarra is a local government area (LGA) in Victoria, Australia in the inner eastern and northern suburbs of Melbourne. It is the second smallest LGA in the state with an area of 19.5 square kilometres (7.5 sq mi), and in June 2018 it had a population of 98,521, making it the second most densely populated LGA, with around 5,040 people per square kilometre. The City of Yarra was formed in 1994 as a result of the amalgamation of the former Cities of Richmond, Collingwood, Fitzroy, and parts of Carlton North (previously part of the City of Melbourne) and parts of Alphington and Fairfield (previously part of the former City of Northcote). The 2016 Australian Census found that 38.8% of residents were born outside Australia, with the largest numbers being born in England, New Zealand, Vietnam, China and Greece.The suburbs of the City of Yarra were established in the mid-to-late 19th century and retain a Victorian appearance. The majority of housing in the city is made up of Victorian cottages or terraces or apartments built from the 1960s. The City of Yarra has some of Melbourne's best shopping streets. These include Bridge Road and Swan and Victoria Streets in Richmond, Brunswick and Gertrude streets in Fitzroy and Smith Street in Collingwood. In 2021, Smith Street was named the coolest street in the world.Yarra Council CEO is Vijaya Vaidyanath since July 2012.As of November 2021, the City of Yarra is the only local council in Australia where the majority of councillors are members of the Australian Greens, and where both the mayor and deputy mayor are members of the Australian Greens.

Collingwood railway station is located on the Mernda and Hurstbridge lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the north-eastern Melbourne suburb of Abbotsford, and it opened on 21 October 1901 as Collingwood Town Hall. It was renamed Collingwood on 1 May 1909.The station buildings and platforms were rebuilt in 1986/1987, and were in use by 7 September 1987.Whilst it is named after Collingwood (and the adjacent Collingwood Town Hall), the station is actually located in the neighbouring suburb of Abbotsford.

Abbotsford (Woiwurrung: Carran-carramulk) is an inner-city suburb of Melbourne, Australia, 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District. Its local government area is the City of Yarra. At the 2016 census, Abbotsford had a population of 8,184. Abbotsford is bounded by Collingwood, Richmond and Clifton Hill and separated from Kew by the meandering Yarra River. Formerly part of the City of Collingwood, it is now part of the City of Yarra. Victoria Street forms the southern boundary to Abbotsford (with Richmond); Hoddle Street forms the western boundary (with Collingwood); the Eastern Freeway forms the northern boundary (with Clifton Hill) while the Yarra forms the eastern boundary with Kew, in Boroondara. Some well known Abbotsford landmarks include the Skipping Girl Sign, Dights Falls, the former Collingwood Town Hall, Victoria Park Football Stadium and Abbotsford Convent. Abbotsford is designated one of the 82 Major Activity centres listed in the Metropolitan Strategy Melbourne 2030. Abbotsford takes its name from the estate of John Orr, which in turn is named after a ford in Scotland's Tweed River, used by the abbot of Melrose Abbey. Since World War II the area has become quite ethnically diverse.

West Richmond railway station is located on the Mernda and Hurstbridge lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the inner eastern Melbourne suburb of Richmond, and it opened on 21 October 1901.The station opened along with the line from Princes Bridge to Collingwood.
