The Melba Memorial Conservatorium of Music was a school of music located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. During its early days it was closely associated with opera diva Dame Nellie Melba, after whom it was later named. In 1994 it became affiliated with Victoria University. Founded in 1901 as "The Conservatorium of Music, Melbourne", the Melba Conservatorium ceased teaching at the end of 2008. However, it finds its continuing expression in the form of Melba Opera Trust.

North Richmond is an official unbounded neighbourhood located in inner Melbourne in the vicinity of North Richmond railway station. It is in the local government area of the City of Yarra. Victoria Street, Richmond Post Office opened on 3 November 1906 and was renamed Richmond North in 1924. An earlier Richmond North office was open from 1873 until 1880.

Jolimont and West Richmond was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria from 1889 to 1904. It was located in the inner eastern suburbs of Melbourne and included parts of Richmond and Jolimont. Its area was defined as: Commencing at the junction of Victoria-street and Separation-street; thence south by Separation-street and Lennox-street to Swan-street; west by Swan-street to Punt-road or Hoddle-street; south by that street to the Yarra River; westerly down that river to a point opposite the end of Gisborne-street; north to and by Gisborne-street to Victoria-parade ; east by Victoria-parade and Victoria-street to the commencing point. Jolimont and West Richmond was abolished in 1904 when several new districts, including the Electoral district of Abbotsford were created.

Electoral district of Abbotsford was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. Abbotsford was created by the post-Federation Electoral Districts Boundaries Act 1903 coming into effect in 1904 when 42 districts were abolished (including Jolimont and West Richmond) and 24 new ones created resulting in 65 districts. The district of Abbotsford was defined as: Commencing at the intersection of Hoddle-street and Bridge-road ; thence north by Hoddle-street to Reilly-street; thence east by that street to the Merri Creek ; thence southerly by that creek and the Yarra River to Campbell's-parade ; thence west by Campbell's-parade to Gleadell-street; thence north by that street to Highett-street; thence west by that street to Church-street; thence south by Church-street to Bridge-road ; and thence west by Bridge-road to the commencing point. now Alexandra Parade now Bridge Road

Bridge Road is a major shopping strip in Melbourne, Australia. It is best known for its abundance of restaurants, cafes and shopping, which makes it a popular tourist attraction. The Richmond Town Hall and Epworth Hospital are amongst the landmarks of Bridge Road.

The Pelaco Sign is a heritage-listed neon sign located in the inner Melbourne suburb of Richmond. It was erected in 1939 as an advertisement for local shirt manufacturer Pelaco. Melbourne-based rockabilly group, The Pelaco Brothers (1974–75), were named after the sign. The Pelaco sign is visible in many scenes of the 1986 film Dogs In Space. High on a building on Richmond Hill, it can be seen from many suburbs away especially when lit at night. The building is located at 21-31 Goodwood Street, Richmond and now houses numerous businesses including radio stations Gold 104.3 and KIIS 101.1, Madman Entertainment and media production company Fremantle Media and Authentic Entertainment.

Melbourne East Province was an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Council.It was created in June 1904 when Melbourne Province was reduced in size (four members down to two), North Yarra Province and South Yarra Province were abolished. The new Melbourne East Province, Melbourne North Province, Melbourne South Province and Melbourne West Province were then created.Melbourne East was defined by the Electoral Provinces Boundaries Act 1903 (taking effect from the 1904 elections) as consisting of the following divisions: Barkly, Central Fitzroy, Central Richmond, Collingwood East, Darling, North Richmond, South Fitzroy and South Richmond.Melbourne East was abolished soon after the new Doutta Galla, Higinbotham and Monash Provinces were created in 1937.

The City of Yarra is a local government area (LGA) in Victoria, Australia in the inner eastern and northern suburbs of Melbourne. It is the second smallest LGA in the state with an area of 19.5 square kilometres (7.5 sq mi), and in June 2018 it had a population of 98,521, making it the second most densely populated LGA, with around 5,040 people per square kilometre. The City of Yarra was formed in 1994 as a result of the amalgamation of the former Cities of Richmond, Collingwood, Fitzroy, and parts of Carlton North (previously part of the City of Melbourne) and parts of Alphington and Fairfield (previously part of the former City of Northcote). The administrative centre of the City of Yarra is the old Richmond Town Hall in Bridge Road, Richmond. The Collingwood Town Hall in Hoddle Street, Abbotsford is also still used by the council as secondary offices and as a service centre, and the Fitzroy Town Hall in Napier Street, Fitzroy is used for the local library and for use as a community space. The 2016 Australian Census found that 38.8% of residents were born outside Australia, with the largest numbers being born in England, New Zealand, Vietnam, China and Greece.The suburbs of the City of Yarra were established in the mid-to-late 19th century and retain a Victorian appearance. The majority of housing in the city is made up of Victorian cottages or terraces or apartments built from the 1960s. The City of Yarra has some of Melbourne's best shopping streets. These include Bridge Road and Swan and Victoria Streets in Richmond, Brunswick and Gertrude streets in Fitzroy and Smith Street in Collingwood. In 2021, Smith Street was named the coolest street in the world.Yarra Council CEO is Vijaya Vaidyanath since July 2012.As of November 2021, the City of Yarra is the only local council in Australia where the majority of councillors are members of the Australian Greens, and where both the mayor and deputy mayor are members of the Australian Greens.
