Melbourne East Province was an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Council.It was created in June 1904 when Melbourne Province was reduced in size (four members down to two), North Yarra Province and South Yarra Province were abolished. The new Melbourne East Province, Melbourne North Province, Melbourne South Province and Melbourne West Province were then created.Melbourne East was defined by the Electoral Provinces Boundaries Act 1903 (taking effect from the 1904 elections) as consisting of the following divisions: Barkly, Central Fitzroy, Central Richmond, Collingwood East, Darling, North Richmond, South Fitzroy and South Richmond.Melbourne East was abolished soon after the new Doutta Galla, Higinbotham and Monash Provinces were created in 1937.

The City of Yarra is a local government area (LGA) in Victoria, Australia in the inner eastern and northern suburbs of Melbourne. It is the second smallest LGA in the state with an area of 19.5 square kilometres (7.5 sq mi), and in June 2018 it had a population of 98,521, making it the second most densely populated LGA, with around 5,040 people per square kilometre. The City of Yarra was formed in 1994 as a result of the amalgamation of the former Cities of Richmond, Collingwood, Fitzroy, and parts of Carlton North (previously part of the City of Melbourne) and parts of Alphington and Fairfield (previously part of the former City of Northcote). The administrative centre of the City of Yarra is the old Richmond Town Hall in Bridge Road, Richmond. The Collingwood Town Hall in Hoddle Street, Abbotsford is also still used by the council as secondary offices and as a service centre, and the Fitzroy Town Hall in Napier Street, Fitzroy is used for the local library and for use as a community space. Some council committees also meet at the Fitzroy and Collingwood Town Halls. The city is culturally and socially diverse. The 2016 Australian Census found that 38.8% of residents were born outside Australia, with the largest numbers being born in England, New Zealand, Vietnam, China and Greece.The suburbs of the City of Yarra were established in the mid-to-late 19th century and retain a Victorian appearance. The majority of housing in the city is made up of Victorian cottages or terraces or apartments built from the 1960s. The City of Yarra has some of Melbourne's best shopping streets. These include Bridge Road and Swan and Victoria Streets in Richmond, Brunswick and Gertrude streets in Fitzroy and Smith Street in Collingwood. In 2021, Smith Street was named the coolest street in the world.Yarra Council CEO is Vijaya Vaidyanath since July 2012.As of November 2021, the City of Yarra is the only local council in Australia where the majority of councillors are members of the Australian Greens, and where both the mayor and deputy mayor are members of the Australian Greens.

Richmond Town Hall is a civic building located on Bridge Road in Richmond, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia.

Pinacotheca (1967–2002) was a gallery in Melbourne, Australia. Established in 1967 by Bruce Pollard (b. 1936), it was ideologically committed to the avant-garde and represented a new generation of artists interested in post-object, conceptual and other non-traditional art forms.

Vaucluse College FCJ was founded in 1882 by the Faithful Companions of Jesus. The school was originally known as Mount St Joseph College and later was changed to Vaucluse College FCJ. The main buildings of the college including the convent were designed by the architect GW Vanheems and constructed in stages between 1897-1904 to supplement the 'Eurolie' building already on site. These buildings, including the small gatehouse are listed as being of historical significance to the Richmond Hill area by the Heritage Council of Victoria. At various times, the college consisted of a junior school (age 5-11), a senior school which offered matriculation and accommodation for boarders. The school officially closed on December 8, 2000 due to changing demographics in the inner-city Melbourne region. The Vaucluse site is currently used as the Waterford campus for St Kevin's College.

The Pelaco Sign is a heritage-listed neon sign located in the inner Melbourne suburb of Richmond. It was erected in 1939 as an advertisement for local shirt manufacturer Pelaco. Melbourne-based rockabilly group, The Pelaco Brothers (1974–75), were named after the sign. The Pelaco sign is visible in many scenes of the 1986 film Dogs In Space. High on a building on Richmond Hill, it can be seen from many suburbs away especially when lit at night. The building is located at 21-31 Goodwood Street, Richmond and now houses numerous businesses including radio stations Gold 104.3 and KIIS 101.1, Madman Entertainment and media production company Fremantle Media and Authentic Entertainment.

Jesuit Social Services is a social change organisation working to build a just society where all people can live to their full potential. The organisation was established by the Australian Jesuits in 1977. Originally based in Melbourne, Australia, it has expanded to include outreach programs in New South Wales and the Northern Territory.Jesuit Social Services conducts research and advocacy and delivers an array of programs in the areas of young people and adults in the justice system, mental health and wellbeing, education, training and employment, settlement and community building, violence prevention, and ecological justice. KIIS 1011 (official callsign: 3TTT) is a commercial FM radio station broadcasting in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on a frequency of 101.1 MHz and is the Melbourne affiliate of ARN's KIIS Network. The station was formerly known as 3DB and 3TT, broadcasting on 1026 kHz AM, before converting to FM in 1990.

The Valhalla Cinema was a repertory and arthouse cinema in Melbourne, Australia. Noted for audience participation films, it was named for Valhalla, the "Hall of the slain" in Norse mythology.

The City of Richmond was a local government area about 2 kilometres (1 mi) east of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of 6.12 square kilometres (2.36 sq mi), and existed from 1855 until 1994.

Abbotsford was created by the post-Federation Electoral Districts Boundaries Act 1903 coming into effect in 1904 when 42 districts were abolished (including Jolimont and West Richmond) and 24 new ones created resulting in 65 districts.
