Chipping Sodbury School

Chipping Sodbury is a market town and former civil parish in the unitary authority area of South Gloucestershire, in the ceremonial county of Gloucestershire, England. Situated 13 miles (21 km) north-east of Bristol, it was founded in the 12th century by William le Gros. It is the principal settlement in the civil parish of Sodbury, which also includes the village of Old Sodbury. Sodbury parish council has elected to be known as Sodbury Town Council. Little Sodbury is a nearby but separate civil parish. At the 2011 census the population of Chipping Sodbury was 5,045, but since the 1999s the town has become part of a larger built-up area due to the rapid expansion of nearby Yate, with which it is contiguous to the west. At the census the combined population of Yate and Chipping Sodbury was 26,834.

Chipping Sodbury railway station was a railway station on the South Wales Main Line serving the town of Chipping Sodbury in Gloucestershire. The station opened on 1 July 1903, and closed to passengers on 3 April 1961, and to goods on 20 June 1966.

Yate is a town and civil parish in South Gloucestershire, England. It lies just to the southwest of the Cotswold Hills and is 12 miles (19 kilometres) northeast of Bristol city centre and 12 miles (19 kilometres) from the centre of Bath, with regular rail services to Bristol and Gloucester. Developing from a small village into a town from the 1950s onwards, the 2011 census listed Yate's parish population as 21,789. The market town of Chipping Sodbury (population 5,045) is contiguous with Yate to the east. In addition, a large southern section of the built-up area spills over into the parish of Dodington (population 8,206), and as a result, the total population of Yate's urban area is estimated at 35,000.

Codrington is a settlement in South Gloucestershire, England. It is located near Junction 18 of the M4 motorway south of Wapley and Yate. Codrington is a hamlet situated alongside the B4465 road. It was formerly in the civil parish of Wapley-cum-Codrington in the hundred of Grumbald's Ash. It is now in Dodington parish, under the administration of the unitary authority of South Gloucestershire. It had one pub, the Wishing Well, which was formerly the Codrington Arms. The pub was linked to the Codrington Family, who used to be based at Codrington Court before moving to nearby Dodington Park. The area also has a Baptist church in Wapley Road. Now the area is best known for its golf course on the outskirts called The Players Club. The hamlet is mentioned in Lemon Jelly's "Ramblin' Man".

Brimsham Green School is a comprehensive secondary school in Yate, South Gloucestershire, England. Situated toward the northern edge of Yate and serving both the town and adjacent South Gloucestershire villages, Brimsham Green School has modern facilities grouped within a single site. It has a humanities block (B), design and technology block (D), art block (C), mathematics block (J), English block (E & L), music block, languages block (L), a study centre, sports hall, and reception (A), and they are all on one floor except for the humanities block which has a lift providing access to the first floor. In recent years the school has undergone a number of modernisations including the building of a new Design Technology block where the cricket cages had previously been and with wide-ranging extensions made to the English and Music departments. The Administration block has also seen the library move out into the English block. The school operates a sixth form provision which offers A Levels and BTECs as programmes of study for students. The sixth form is offered in conjunction with Chipping Sodbury School in Chipping Sodbury as well as Yate Academy in Yate under the title Cotswold Edge Consortium.The school was considering Academy status, but the governors and staff decided that the school and pupils would not benefit from transferring due to the extra expense incurred during the transfer.In a 2019 inspection the school was rated "Good" by Ofsted.Notable former students include television personality Josie Gibson.

Dodington is a village and civil parish in South Gloucestershire, England. The village lies in a small, fertile valley between Codrington and Old Sodbury, and runs together with the even tinier hamlet of Coombes End. It is about 2.5 miles southeast of Chipping Sodbury and four miles from Yate railway station. The River Frome rises within Dodington Park, the estate that originally formed the economic basis of this small village. The Cotswold Way also passes through the north end of the village. The River Boyd rises just south of the village. In addition to the rural area around the village, the parish nowadays encompasses substantial housing areas to the south of Yate and Chipping Sodbury, the latter being the location of Dodington Parish Hall.

Yate railway station serves the town of Yate in South Gloucestershire, in south west England. The station is located on the main Bristol to Birmingham line between Bristol Parkway and Cam & Dursley, and is operated by Great Western Railway.

Old Sodbury is a small village and former civil parish in the valley of the River Frome just below and to the west of the Cotswold escarpment and to the east of Chipping Sodbury and Yate, now in the parish of Sodbury, in the South Gloucestershire district, in the ceremonial county of Gloucestershire, England. It is situated in the Hundred of Grumbald's Ash. The village extends from Chipping Sodbury in the West to the Cotswold Edge in the East and is on the Cotswold Way. The Badminton Road (A432) winds eastwards towards Badminton, Gloucestershire through the village, up to the Cross Hands junction with the A46, which runs along the top of the Cotswold escarpment from Bath to Stroud. In 1931 the parish had a population of 837. On 1 April 1946 the parish was abolished to form Sodbury.The village lies on an old coaching route, and is much more ancient than its westerly neighbour, Chipping Sodbury: hence the name 'Old' Sodbury.
