Nibley is a village in the parish of Westerleigh, South Gloucestershire, England; it is situated about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of Yate.The village of North Nibley (also commonly known as Nibley) is some 10 miles (16 km) away to the north, and there is also a Nibley on the west bank of the Severn, near Lydney.

Brimsham Green School is a comprehensive secondary school in Yate, South Gloucestershire, England. Situated toward the northern edge of Yate and serving both the town and adjacent South Gloucestershire villages, Brimsham Green School has modern facilities grouped within a single site. It has a humanities block (B), design and technology block (D), art block (C), mathematics block (J), English block (E & L), music block, languages block (L), a study centre, sports hall, and reception (A), and they are all on one floor except for the humanities block which has a lift providing access to the first floor. In recent years the school has undergone a number of modernisations including the building of a new Design Technology block where the cricket cages had previously been and with wide-ranging extensions made to the English and Music departments. The Administration block has also seen the library move out into the English block. The school operates a sixth form provision which offers A Levels and BTECs as programmes of study for students. The sixth form is offered in conjunction with Chipping Sodbury School in Chipping Sodbury as well as Yate Academy in Yate under the title Cotswold Edge Consortium.The school was considering Academy status, but the governors and staff decided that the school and pupils would not benefit from transferring due to the extra expense incurred during the transfer.In a 2019 inspection the school was rated "Good" by Ofsted.Notable former students include television personality Josie Gibson.

Mayshill or Mays Hill is a hamlet located in the Parish of Westerleigh, South Gloucestershire, England. It is located just off the A432 (Badminton Road) between Coalpit Heath and Nibley. A small road runs from the hamlet to Frampton End Road, connecting Frampton Cotterell and Iron Acton. Yate and Westerleigh are also nearby. Despite its size the hamlet contains a pub, dating from the 16th Century. The 'New Inn at Mays Hill', on Badminton Road, there is also a house opposite the pub dating from the 17th Century. Mayshill Cemetery, is located across Badminton Road

Westerleigh Junction is a railway junction in Gloucestershire, England, where the Cross Country Route (XCR) from York to Bristol Temple Meads meets the South Wales Main Line (SWML) from London Paddington to Swansea, near the village of Westerleigh. The junction is located between the stations of Bristol Parkway, Swindon and Yate.

Yate is a town and civil parish in South Gloucestershire, England. It lies just to the southwest of the Cotswold Hills and is 12 miles (19 kilometres) northeast of Bristol city centre and 12 miles (19 kilometres) from the centre of Bath, with regular rail services to Bristol and Gloucester. Developing from a small village into a town from the 1950s onwards, the 2011 census listed Yate's parish population as 21,789. The market town of Chipping Sodbury (population 5,045) is contiguous with Yate to the east. In addition, a large southern section of the built-up area spills over into the parish of Dodington (population 8,206), and as a result, the total population of Yate's urban area is estimated at 35,000.

Westerleigh is a clustered village and civil parish (which includes Henfield) in South Gloucestershire, England, it contains sources of the Frome and has an endpoint of the Frome Valley Walkway. It is 0.8 miles (1.3 km) north of the M4, 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Yate and 10 miles (16 km) north-east of the city of Bristol. In the south it includes a steep hill of its own 5 miles (8.0 km) from the crest of the Cotswold hills which is designated an AONB.

Rangeworthy is a semi-rural farming village in South Gloucestershire, England, nearby communities include Falfield and Charfield. The village population taken at the 2011 census was 675.The village lies between Iron Acton and Bagstone, along the B4058 road. It is a long village divided by a road with a well used village hall, pub, hotel, Indian restaurant, recreation ground, primary school and church. A village committee organises village events including the children's Christmas party, Summer Fete and Beer Festival. There are other organisations such as the Court Players, Women's Institute, a Youth Club, Toddlers group and Parish magazine. Several good public footpaths give access to the countryside & there are bridle paths for horse riders & cyclists.Rangeworthy was historically a chapelry in the ancient parish of Thornbury, a detached part of that parish. It became a separate civil parish in 1866. The organist Charles Harford Lloyd served there in his youth.

Iron Acton is a village, civil parish and former manor in South Gloucestershire, England. The village is about 2 miles (3 km) west of Yate and about 9 miles (14 km) northeast of the centre of Bristol. The B4058 road used to pass through the village but now by-passes it just to the north. The "iron" part of the toponym originates from the iron that used to be mined near the village. "Acton" is derived from the Old English for "farm (or village) with oak trees". Still today there is an oak wood in the village beside the River Frome. The civil parish also includes the smaller villages of Latteridge and Engine Common.

Barnhill Quarry (grid reference ST725827) is a 3.1 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Chipping Sodbury, South Gloucestershire, notified in 1966.
