The Central Talmud Torah, also known as the Central Hebrew Free School, was a Jewish parochial school established in 1892 and located at 314-320 Catharine Street from 1911 until 1963 in the Queen Village neighborhood of South Philadelphia. Rabbi Bernard L. Levinthal initiated the establishment of the institution to serve the growing number of immigrant Jewish children in the city's Jewish quarter in South Philadelphia. Wolf Klebansky served as the school's president and raised $75,000 to build the school's building at 314-320 Catharine Street. The new building was dedicated on October 29, 1911. The building could accommodate 1,000 students with 17 classrooms, a library, an auditorium, a gymnasium, and a swimming pool.Central Talmud Torah was a "religious public school," free to those unable to pay, that taught Hebrew, Jewish history, and religious studies. Jewish children attended from 4:00 PM–7:00 PM after public school.The American Jewish Year Book reported the organization counted 7,000 members and $12,000 in total income in 1919.The building served as the home of the Beth Jacob Day School in the 1950s and continued to be used for Jewish education until its closure in 1963. The school building was converted to loft condominiums in the 1980s.

Queen Village is a residential neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that lies along the eastern edge of the city in South Philadelphia. Robert Ralston School is a historic school building located in the Queen Village neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1869, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, four-bay, brick building with a stucco foundation in the Gothic Revival-style. It has a later addition in an industrial style. It features a pedimented front gable, a molded wood cornice, and an ocular vent opening. It was named after merchant and philanthropist Robert Ralston (1761-1836). The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Bethel Burial Ground is a historic African American cemetery located in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania beneath part of the surface of Weccacoe Playground, which is bounded by Queen, S. Lawrence, Catherine, and S. Liethgow Streets. The burial ground was about 100 feet square and is located below the southwest corner of the current playground.

Settlement Music School is a community music school with branches in and around Philadelphia. Founded in 1908 by two young women, Jeannette Selig Frank and Blanche Wolf Kohn, it is the largest community school of the arts in the United States. Its five branches are in South, West and Northeast Philadelphia, Germantown, and Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. It is the largest employer of musicians in the region, with over 200 faculty members; since its founding, its faculty has included current and former members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Among its alumni are Albert Einstein, Michael and Kevin Bacon, Stanley Clarke, Chubby Checker, Clamma Dale, Joey DeFrancesco, Kevin Eubanks, Christian McBride, Questlove, former Philadelphia Mayor Frank Rizzo, and Wallace Roney, as well as members of many symphony orchestras across the United States and around the world. Mary Louise Curtis Bok Zimbalist, only child of Cyrus H. K. Curtis, a wealthy magazine publisher and founder of the Curtis Publishing Company, became involved with the Settlement School at the age of 48. At the time, the school was focused on providing musical training to young immigrants. Mrs. Bok made a gift to the school of $150,000 for a Settlement Music House. The music house's goal was "Americanization among the foreign population of Philadelphia." A close friend of the Bok family, pianist Josef Hofmann, played a recital at the school's dedication. Today this facility on 416 Queen Street in Philadelphia is known as the Mary Louise Curtis Branch.

Fabric Row (Der Ferder, "the fourth", in Yiddish) is a historic Jewish textile and garment district located on South 4th Street in the Queen Village neighborhood of Philadelphia between Bainbridge Street and Catherine Street.

The Sparks Shot Tower is a historic shot tower located at 129-131 Carpenter Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Opened on July 4, 1808, it was one of the first shot towers in the United States, with the Jackson Ferry Shot Tower in Wythe County, Virginia possibly predating it by a year or so. It was built near the Delaware River waterfront at Front and Carpenter Streets, just west of Gloria Dei (Old Swedes') Church.

The Widow Maloby's Tavern is a historic tavern building located in the Queen Village neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The tavern was built in 1764, and is a 3 1/2-story, three bay by two bay, brick rowhouse. It was originally painted yellow. It remained a tavern and community gathering place for over a century.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 16, 1972. The tavern is also part of the South Front Street Historic District.

Nathaniel Irish House is a historic home located in the Queen Village neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is located next to the Capt. Thomas Moore House. It was built between 1763 and 1769, and is a 3+1⁄2-story, three bay brick rowhouse. It has a two-story, attached rear building and a steep gable roof with dormers. The interior features seven fireplaces. This and the adjoining houses were built by Nathaniel Irish.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. It is located in the South Front Street Historic District.

This house is believed to have been built by Nathaniel Irish.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. It is located in the South Front Street Historic District.

The Theatre of Living Arts (known commonly as the TLA) is a concert venue located on South Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The venue, which opened in 1988, dates back to the early 1900s as a nickelodeon. Over the years, the venue has seen many incarnations ranging from concert hall to movie theatre to theatre. Known for its acoustics, it was voted as one of the best concert venues in America by Complex.
