Erfenstein Castle

Spangenberg Castle (German: Burg Spangenberg) is the partially rebuilt ruin of a rock castle in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It lies in the Palatine Forest above the Elmstein valley near the village of Erfenstein, but is actually on the forest estates belong to the town of Neustadt an der Weinstraße, or more precisely, the village of Lachen-Speyerdorf. Together with the neighbouring castle of Erfenstein, it is linked to the legend of the Leather Bridge.

The Cuckoo Railway (German: Kuckucksbähnel, literally "Little Cuckoo Railway"), in its early days the Elmstein Valley Railway (Elmsteiner Talbahn), is a 12.97 kilometre long branch line in the central Palatine Forest, which runs through the region of Neustadt/Kaiserslautern from Lambrecht to Elmstein. It was built primarily to support the local forestry industry. In 1902 the section to Sattelmühle was opened, initially just as an industrial siding. In 1909 it was extended to Elmstein and upgraded to a fully fledged branch line. Regular passenger services were withdrawn in 1960 - due to the sparse population of the region it had always played a secondary role. This was followed in 1977 by the cessation of goods traffic between Frankeneck and Elmstein. Since 1984 the line has been operated as a heritage railway. Goods trains still run as far as Frankeneck.

Frankeneck is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Bad Dürkheim district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

The Hochspeyerbach is a 21 km (13 mi) long river in the Palatinate forest in Rhineland-Palatinate and a left tributary of the Speyerbach.

Neidenfels is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Bad Dürkheim district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

The Schafkopf, with its height of 616.8 metres, is one of the few mountains of the Palatine Forest that exceeds the 600 metre mark. It lies south of the Forest's highest peak, the Kalmit, in the Palatine Forest-North Vosges Biosphere Reserve, not far from the municipality of St. Martin and, together with the Morschenberg (608 m), Rotsohlberg (607 m) and Steigerkopf (614 m), forms a contiguous massif. The Schafkopf is entirely forested. There are no official paths or tracks to the actual summit.

The Steigerkopf, also colloquially called the Schänzel, near Edenkoben in the county of Südliche Weinstraße in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, is a mountain, 613.6 m above sea level (NHN), in the Palatine Forest. At the summit, which lies on the territory of Gommersheim, is the Schänzel tower.

The Schänzel Tower (German: Schänzelturm) is a 13-metre-high viewing tower on the Steigerkopf near Edenkoben in the county of Südliche Weinstraße in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It was built in 1874 and is the highest-located tower in the mountain range of the Palatinate Forest.

The Hüttenberg near Maikammer in the Rhineland-Palatinate county of Südliche Weinstraße is a subpeak, 620.1 m above sea level (NN), of the Kalmit (672.6 m) the highest mountain in the Haardt in the eastern Palatinate Forest of Germany. There is a blockfield, the Hüttenberg Felsenmeer, along the crest.

The Hüttenhohl is a mountain pass in the Haardt mountains in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate on the boundary of the parishes of Maikammer and Neustadt an der Weinstraße. Here, at 476.9 m above sea level (NHN), the Kalmithöhenstraße (Landesstraße 515) branches off the Totenkopfstraße (L 514). By the fork there is a sign on a tree with the height recorded as "479 mtr".The term "pass" here does not refer to the roads that meet here because they continue to climb from the Sankt Martin valley towards the Totenkopf and Kalmit, but to the saddle between the Sankt Martin valley and the Finstertal valley.

Lambrecht (Pfalz) station is the station of the town of Lambrecht in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Deutsche Bahn classifies it as belonging to category 4 and it has three platform tracks. The station is located in the network of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar (Rhine-Neckar transport association, VRN) and belongs to fare zone 121. Its address is Bahnhofstraße 4.It is located on the Mannheim–Saarbrücken railway, which essentially consists of the Palatine Ludwig Railway (Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn, Ludwigshafen–Bexbach). It was opened on 25 August 1849, when the Ludwig Railway was put into full operation. In 1902 an industrial track was built to Sattelmühle and it was extended as a branch railway (called the Kuckucksbähnel—Little Cuckoo Railway) to Elmstein and fully opened in 1909. This carried normal passenger services up until 1960 and was reopened as a heritage railway in 1984.

The Hohe Stoppelkopf, locally just called the Stoppelkopf, is a 566.2-metre-high hill in the Palatine Forest in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It lies 3 km north of the small town of Lambrecht. Together with the Drachenfels (577 m) to the northwest and the Stabenberg (496 m) to the east, the Stoppelkopf lies on the watershed between the catchment areas of two Palatine Rhine tributaries, the Speyerbach (south) and the Isenach (north). The two longest tributaries of the Mußbach rise on the Stoppelkopf; both later empty into the left mouth branch of the Speyerbach, the Rehbach.
