Datteln

Datteln Power Station (German: Kraftwerk Datteln) is a modern coal-fired thermal power station in Datteln, Recklinghausen, 12 km north of Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It comprises four units with a total capacity of approximately 1,419 MW gross. Units 1-3 were built between 1964 and 1969 and were decommissioned in 2014. A characteristic of this power station is the fact that the most recently built unit, Unit 4, does not have a waste gas flue. Instead, the desulphurised flue gases are expelled using the updraught from the existing 180 m (590 ft) cooling tower. The power station is operated by Uniper. The plant employs about 200 full-time workers and 300 external jobs.

The Henrichenburg boat lift facilitates a change in elevation of the Dortmund-Ems-Kanal in Waltrop-Oberwiese. The boat lift is part of the Waltrop Lock Park (Schleusenpark), which includes the old Henrichenburg boat lift built in 1899, a disused shaft lock from 1912, the new boat lift built in 1962 and a modern ship lock from 1989. The Henrichenburg boat lift is a popular destination for cyclists along the canals of the northern Ruhr Area.

Waltrop (German pronunciation: [ˈvaltʁɔp] is a town in the district of Recklinghausen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the Datteln-Hamm Canal, approximately 15 km east of Recklinghausen and 15 km north-west of Dortmund.

Gustav Knepper Power Station was a coal-fired power station in Dortmund-Mengede in Germany, close to Castrop-Rauxel. It started operation in 1971 and ended on December 23, 2014. The power station was built at the former Gustav Knepper coal mine. The first owner of the Power Station was the Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks AG. It was then taken over by the Bochumer Bergwerks AG. The power station was demolished on February 17, 2019.

Castrop-Rauxel Hauptbahnhof is a railway station in the German city of Castrop-Rauxel. It is situated on the S2 line of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn, stopping every half hour. Additional, the RE 3 (Rhein-Emscher-Express) and the RB32 (Rhein-Emscher-Bahn) both stop hourly.

The Stimberg-Stadion is a multi-use stadium in Oer-Erkenschwick, Germany. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home of SpVgg Erkenschwick. The stadium, built in 1930, has a capacity of 14,380 spectators. The stadium opened in 1934.

Dortmund-Mengede station is located in the Dortmund suburb of Mengede in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The station was opened in 1848 as part of the trunk line of the former Cologne-Minden Railway Company.Mengede station is used by a range of passenger services and includes an area to the north-west of the passenger station that is used for shunting and freight. Four tracks are available for passenger operations. Two tracks are served by the Regional-Express service RE 3, Rhein-Emscher-Express, the other two tracks are served by S-Bahn line S 2. The two platforms are connected by an underground pedestrian tunnel. The walkway tunnel is not yet equipped with lifts, so people in wheelchairs can only use the platforms with assistance. At the station there are 136 park and ride spaces for cars and 16 bicycle lockers, which were built as part of the “Bike and Ride” concept. An expansion of the capacity of these facilities is planned. The station's platform canopy is listed as a monument by the city of Dortmund.The freight and marshalling yard was used mainly to handle coal despatched to the Gustav Knepper Power Station until its closure in 2014. Formerly coal was transported from the Adolf von Hansemann colliery, which closed in 1967.

Oer-Erkenschwick is a town in the district of Recklinghausen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated approximately 5 km north-east of Recklinghausen, on the northern periphery of the Ruhrgebiet. When pronouncing the name, “Oer” should be pronounced like the German Ohr, not Ör.

Westfälisches Landestheater (WLT) is a theatre in Castrop-Rauxel, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. There are four theaters in Nordrhein-Westfalen: the Westfälische Landestheater, the Landestheater Detmold, the Landestheater Burghofbühne in Dinslaken, and the Rheinische Landestheater in Neuss. All of the WLT's premieres happen in the city Castrop-Rauxel. During the 2017/2018 show season, there were over 360 shows and about 85,000 audience members. Each show season, the WLT premieres up to 15 shows. It is located in the Europaplatz in Castrop-Rauxel.

Dortmund-Nette/Oestrich station is located in the city of Dortmund in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on a link (line 2191) between the Welver–Sterkrade railway and the Duisburg–Dortmund railway built for the opening of the line S2 of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. The line and station opened on 2 June 1991. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station.The station is served by line S 2 (running between Dortmund and Recklinghausen or Essen), operating every 30 minutes during the day.It is also served by three bus routes operated by DSW21: 472 (Mengede - Groppenbruch - Brambauer + Mengede - Brauck, at 60-minute intervals), 477 (Mengede Markt + Bodelschwingh, at 60-minute intervals) and 478 (Mengede Markt + Obernette, at 60-minute intervals). It is also served by route 361 (Mengede + Dingen - Deininghausen - Castrop - Ev.Krh), operated by Straßenbahn Herne - Castrop-Rauxel GmbH at 60-minute intervals.

Bladenhorst Castle (German: Schloss Bladenhorst) is a moated castle in the suburbs of the city of Castrop-Rauxel.
