Wanstead and Woodford was a local government district from 1934 to 1965 in southwest Essex, England. A merger of two former urban districts, it was suburban to London and part of the Metropolitan Police District.

South Woodford, originally George Lane, is a London Underground station in the suburb of South Woodford in East London. It is on the Epping branch of the Central line, between Snaresbrook and Woodford stations and is in Travelcard Zone 4.

Ilford Animal Cemetery is an animal cemetery in Ilford in London, England, United Kingdom that contains over three thousand burials. It was founded in the 1920s and is operated by the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals. The cemetery was closed to new burials in the 1960s and gradually became neglected and overgrown before a £50,000 grant from the National Lottery led to its reopening.

South Woodford is an area of East London, England, within the London Borough of Redbridge. It adjoins Woodford Green to the north, Walthamstow to the west, Snaresbrook and Wanstead to the south and Redbridge to the east, and is 8.9 miles (14.3 km) north-east of Charing Cross. Epping Forest runs adjacent to South Woodford in the west of the area.

Woodford is a London Underground station in the town of Woodford in the London Borough of Redbridge, East London. The station is on the Central line, between South Woodford and Buckhurst Hill stations and is in Travelcard Zone 4. The station also acts as a terminus for services via the Hainault loop.

Woodford historically formed an ancient parish in the county of Essex. It contained a string of agrarian villages and was part of Epping Forest. From about 1700 onwards, it became a place of residence for affluent people who had business in London; this wealth, together with its elevated position, has led to it being called the Geographical and social high point of East London. Woodford was suburban to London and after being combined with Wanstead in 1934 it was incorporated as a municipal borough in 1937. It has formed part of Greater London since 1965 and comprises the neighbourhoods of Woodford Green, Woodford Bridge, Woodford Wells and South Woodford. The area is served by two stations on the Central line of the London Underground: Woodford and South Woodford.

St Barnabas' Church, Woodford Green, is a Church of England church in Snakes Lane East, Woodford, London. It had its origins in a 1904 iron mission church – this was attached to St Paul's Church, Woodford. A permanent church was built between 1910 and 1911, with a lady chapel, organ chamber, chancel and two bays of an aisled nave – the nave was completed in 1964. The church was designed by E T Dunn, who also designed St Luke's Church, Ilford, and produced a proposed design for a new chapel screen at St Peter's Church, Bethnal Green. Parts of the parishes of St Paul's, All Saints Church, Woodford Wells, and Holy Trinity Church, South Woodford, were combined to form the new parish of St Barnabas in 1911.

Sukkat Shalom Reform Synagogue, a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism, is a Reform Jewish community based in Wanstead in the London Borough of Redbridge. Its rabbi (since 2008) is Rabbi Larry Becker.The synagogue is housed in the restored Grade II* listed building that had been the chapel of Wanstead Hospital (previously the Merchant Seamen's Orphan's Asylum).

Wanstead Hospital was a former NHS hospital situated on Hermon Hill in Snaresbrook, not far from Wanstead in north-east London.

Bancroft's School is a co-educational private day school located in Woodford Green, London Borough of Redbridge. The school currently has around 1,000 pupils aged between 7 and 18, around 200 of whom are pupils of the Preparatory School and 800 of whom are pupils of the Senior School. The school's alumni – or "Old Bancroftians" – include naturalists, poets, academics, politicians, authors, sportsmen, actors, and military figures. These include two recipients of the Victoria Cross – Britain's highest military award for gallantry. They are Robert Edward Cruickshank and Augustus Charles Newman. In recent years these have included Lord Pannick KC, Alan Davies, Hari Kunzru, Russell Lissack, YolanDa Brown and Andy Saull.

St Cedd's Church, Barkingside (also St Cedd's Church, Ilford and St Cedd's Church, Marston Road) is a Church of England parish church in the Barkingside district of Ilford in the London Borough of Redbridge, dedicated to Cedd, bishop of Essex, in which Ilford historically fell. In 1938 a temporary church was built and a conventional district set up using parts of the parishes of Holy Trinity, Barkingside and Holy Trinity, South Woodford.
