Vleuten-De Meern

Vleuten is a railway station located in Vleuten, Utrecht, Netherlands. The station was opened in 1881, and is located on the Utrecht–Rotterdam railway. The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

Vleuten is a former village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a neighbourhood of the city of Utrecht, and lies about 6 km west of it. Vleuten has a railway station on the line between Utrecht and Woerden. In 2001, Vleuten had 7434 inhabitants. The built-up area was 1.4 km2, and contained 2979 residences. The statistical area "Vleuten" has a population of around 7090.

Veldhuizen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is located in the municipality of Utrecht, south of De Meern. It is also the name of a new neighbourhood of Utrecht, built close to the hamlet. Veldhuizen was a separate municipality between 1818 and 1954, when it became a part of Vleuten-De Meern.

De Meern (Dutch pronunciation: [də ˈmeːr(ə)n]) is an urbanized village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Utrecht, and is located at 6 km west of the inner city of this town. Before 2001 the villages De Meern, Vleuten and Haarzuilens formed a municipality called Vleuten-De Meern. On 1 January 2001, it was incorporated in the municipality of Utrecht. Since 1999 the number of inhabitants of De Meern has increased from about 11,000 to almost 22,000 in 2020.

Themaat is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Utrecht, and lies about 7 km west of Utrecht.The hamlet has about 100 inhabitants.

Utrecht Terwijde is a railway station on the Utrecht–Rotterdam railway. It is located between Vleuten and Utrecht Leidsche Rijn stations. The Terwijde neighbourhood is part of the Leidsche Rijn area under construction, west of Utrecht. Because of the large number of Commuters in this area, a temporary railway station was built in 2003. And in 2005 construction started next to this station for the actual station, which opened on 5 November 2007. Utrecht Terwijde railway station is part of a large project of expanding the two track line to four tracks on this stretch of the railway, which was completed in 2011.

Het Zand (Dutch pronunciation: [ət ˈsɑnt]) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht, in the municipality of Utrecht.

The Hamtoren is the remains of Den Ham castle in Vleuten in Utrecht. The tower is located north of the Utrecht - Rotterdam railway line on an old road to Harmelen.

Leidsche Rijn is a neighbourhood in the west of Utrecht in the central Netherlands. It consists of two parts, Leidsche Rijn and Vleuten-De Meern. By 2007 the neighbourhoods of Veldhuizen, Parkwijk, Langerak and large parts of Terwijde were inhabited. During construction several archeological remains were discovered. In 1997 and in 2003 Roman ships were discovered in the neighbourhood of De Balije. In 2002 and 2003 Roman watchtowers were discovered in the neighbourhoods of Vleuterweide and Het Zand. The centre of this new neighbourhood will be situated above the Rijksweg A2 and will possibly include a few high-rise structures. There are about 35,000 people living in Leidsche Rijn as of the end of 2015 (estimate based on 80,000 inhabitants in 2025). In 2015 Castellum Hoge Woerd opened its doors. On the spot where Romans guarded the river from a fort, now a modern interpretation of the fort with ramparts of six metres high has been built: Castellum Hoge Woerd. Behind the high walls are an archaeological museum, stables and an educational centre for nature and environmental education, a theater and a cafe-restaurant. On May 18 2018, Leidsche Rijn Centrum opened its doors as a local shopping center for the population of Leidsche Rijn. It also has the biggest supermarket of the province Utrecht called Jumbo Foodmarkt Leidsche Rijn.

Haarzuilens is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Utrecht, and lies about 12 km west from the city centre of Utrecht. It was a separate municipality until 1954, when it was joined to the municipality of Vleuten.In 2018, the village of Haarzuilens has about 500 inhabitants.Pronounced “Harzollens” by the local Dutch inhabitants, the village was built around the turn of the 19th century after its predecessor and the local castle De Haar had been destroyed in a devastating fire. The trees surrounding the castle are said to have originated in a forest on the other side of Utrecht. Local lore has it that several houses in Utrecht were demolished in order to move the trees to their new location and to give the castle's landlord his forest without the decades of delay usually required to grow new trees. Nevertheless, the landlord allegedly went on a five-year honeymoon trip before the trees had been replanted. It is famous for De Haar Castle, which is surrounded by gardens and which is the location of the annual Elf Fantasy Fair. The castle, after 1892 fully refurbished by the Baroness Hélène van Zuylen and owned by baron Thierry van Zuylen since 2000, attracted 76,500 visitors in 2002.

Maarssenbroek is a town in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is nowadays part of the municipality of Stichtse Vecht. It lies on the west side of the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal. Between 1815 and 1857, Maarssenbroek was a separate municipality. Maarssenbroek is divided into thirteen residential areas with names picked from plant types and animal species as listed below. The various areas are ordered alphabetically on both sides of the main roads which are aptly named Floraweg (`Flora road`), Vogelweg (`Bird road`) and Safariweg (`Safari road`). starting from the south of the town. The entrances to the residential areas are marked on the main access roads by blue signs on which a silhouette of the animal responsible for the area's name has been stenciled in white. The streets in the residential areas of Maarssenbroek don't have names themselves; the addresses are composed by appending the house number to the area name. Within the residential areas the location of the addresses are indicated with green signs in white lettering pointing out the street where a specific house number can be found (e.g. a sign "501-599" pointing to the right).

Harmelerwaard is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Woerden, and lies about 9 km west of Utrecht. The hamlet was first mentioned between 1280 and 1287 as Hermaelrewart, and means "land near water belonging to Harmelen". It is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Harmelen. It has no place name signs. In 1840, Harmelerwaard was home to 40 people. Nowadays, it consists of about 80 houses.
