Harmelerwaard

Reijerscop is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Woerden, and lies about 12 km west of Utrecht. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1217 as Reynerscoep, and means "concession of Reyner (person)". Reijerscop has unofficial place name signs. In 1840, it was home to 31 people.

The Leidse Rijn (Dutch for "Leiden's Rhine") is a canal in the province of Utrecht, Netherlands. It was dug since the Middle Ages when the meandering old Rhine course silted up. The Leidse Rijn has a length of 13 km. Towns along the Leidse Rijn are De Meern and Harmelen. While still in Utrecht city the Leidse Rijn crosses the Merwede Canal and the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal. It is the continuation of the Kromme Rijn (Crooked Rhine) through the moat system of Utrecht. The canal ends in Harmelen. There it connects to the Oude Rijn, which eventually flows into the North Sea at Katwijk aan Zee. The canal gives its name to the Utrecht neighborhood of Leidsche Rijn.

Harmelen is a town in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Woerden, and lies about 6 km east of Woerden. In 2001, the town of Harmelen had 6557 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 1.11 km², and contained 2481 residences.Harmelen is on the railway line between Utrecht and Woerden; its train station was opened on 21 May 1855 and closed on 15 May 1936. In 1962, two passenger trains collided near Harmelen. The Harmelen train disaster, resulting in 93 fatalities, was the largest train accident in Dutch history. The village used to be a separate municipality, until it merged with Woerden in 2001. Before the merger the municipality of Harmelen had about 8000 inhabitants.

The Hamtoren is the remains of Den Ham castle in Vleuten in Utrecht. The tower is located north of the Utrecht - Rotterdam railway line on an old road to Harmelen.

Breudijk is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Woerden, and lies about 5 km northeast of Woerden. The statistical district "Breudijk", which covers the hamlet and the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 190.

The Harmelen train disaster, on 8 January 1962, was the worst railway accident in the history of the Netherlands. Harmelen, in the central Netherlands, is the location of a railway junction where a branch to Amsterdam leaves the Rotterdam to Utrecht line. It is common at high-speed junctions to avoid the use of diamond crossings wherever possible – instead a ladder crossing is employed where trains destined for the branch line cross over to the track normally employed for trains travelling in the opposite direction for a short distance before taking the branch line. The accident happened 18 months after the Woerden train accident, the derailment of a British furlough train nearby. Previously the Weesp train disaster of 1918 had been the worst railway disaster in the Netherlands.

Achthoven is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Montfoort, and lies about 6 km northwest of IJsselstein. Between 1818 and 1857, Achthoven was a separate municipality; it merged with Linschoten in 1857.Achthoven is sometimes divided into two hamlets: Achthoven-West and Achthoven-Oost.It was first mentioned in 1306 as "van dien achtehoeven", and means "eight parcels of land". Achthoven is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Montfoort. It has place name sign, however they read Montfoort. In 1840, it was home to 105 people. Nowadays, it consists of about 60 houses.

Veldhuizen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is located in the municipality of Utrecht, south of De Meern. It is also the name of a new neighbourhood of Utrecht, built close to the hamlet. Veldhuizen was a separate municipality between 1818 and 1954, when it became a part of Vleuten-De Meern.

Vleuten is a railway station located in Vleuten, Utrecht, Netherlands. The station was opened in 1881, and is located on the Utrecht–Rotterdam railway. The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

Haarzuilens is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Utrecht, and lies about 12 km west from the city centre of Utrecht. It was a separate municipality until 1954, when it was joined to the municipality of Vleuten.In 2018, the village of Haarzuilens has about 500 inhabitants.Pronounced “Harzollens” by the local Dutch inhabitants, the village was built around the turn of the 19th century after its predecessor and the local castle De Haar had been destroyed in a devastating fire. The trees surrounding the castle are said to have originated in a forest on the other side of Utrecht. Local lore has it that several houses in Utrecht were demolished in order to move the trees to their new location and to give the castle's landlord his forest without the decades of delay usually required to grow new trees. Nevertheless, the landlord allegedly went on a five-year honeymoon trip before the trees had been replanted. It is famous for De Haar Castle, which is surrounded by gardens and which is the location of the annual Elf Fantasy Fair. The castle, after 1892 fully refurbished by the Baroness Hélène van Zuylen and owned by baron Thierry van Zuylen since 2000, attracted 76,500 visitors in 2002.

Vleuten is a former village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a neighbourhood of the city of Utrecht, and lies about 6 km west of it. Vleuten has a railway station on the line between Utrecht and Woerden. In 2001, Vleuten had 7434 inhabitants. The built-up area was 1.4 km2, and contained 2979 residences. The statistical area "Vleuten" has a population of around 7090.
