Wheat Ridge/Ward station (sometimes stylized as Wheat Ridge•Ward) is a Regional Transportation District (RTD) commuter rail station and terminus of the G Line. It opened on April 26, 2019, along with the rest of the G Line, after years of delays.The station is located in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, United States, on the south side of West 50th Place between Ward Road and Tabor Street. It includes bus bays and a 290-stall park and ride on the north side of West 50th Place. Public art at the station includes "Anchored by Place", a steel-and-bronze sculpture by Michael Clapper.The station is the only stop within the city of Wheat Ridge, and is being prepared by the city for transit-oriented development. In 2016, voters in Wheat Ridge approved a $12 million sales tax to improve roadways and other infrastructure around the area to lure development. A 7.5-acre (3.0 ha) lot northeast of the station is slated to be developed into 230 apartments and 80 townhomes.

The Pioneer Sod House in Wheat Ridge, Colorado is a sod house built in 1886 or perhaps well before. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.Sod houses were rare in the Denver area, as lumber was available, and this is likely the only one surviving. It was more or less continuously occupied as a residence from 1886 to the summer of 1972.While the 1973 National Register nomination asserted it was built in 1886, the house is believed by the Wheat Ridge Historical Society to have been built in 1864 or before 1859.

The station is located in western Arvada, Colorado, on the west side of Kipling Parkway and near Red Rocks Community College's Arvada campus. It includes bus bays, a 200-stall park and ride, and a pedestrian underpass connecting the platform to Ridge Road and the park and ride. Public art at the station includes "Chromatic Harvest", a kaleidoscopic mural wall with geometric imagery of agriculture. The station opened on April 26, 2019.The Arvada Ridge area has been the site of the city's "education-focused" transit-oriented development, which has included new apartment buildings and retailers to the south of the park and ride. RTD plans to begin new bus service between the Arvada Ridge and Olde Town Arvada stations when the G Line opens on April 26, 2019.

The Apex Park and Recreation District is a park and recreation district located in the northeastern portion of Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. Apex encompasses the portion of City of Arvada and adjacent areas that are located within Jefferson County. The district serves a population of more than 100,000. The district is a resource for all types of athletic activities, events, classes, and family entertainment for those who live in the encompassing neighborhoods, as well as visitors from across the metro area and beyond. With a few exceptions, the Apex Park and Recreation District boundaries are Sheridan Boulevard on the east, Clear Creek and 52nd Avenue on the south, Highway 93 on the west and the Boulder/Broomfield county line on the north. Apex Park and Recreation District is managed by an executive director and a five-member elected board of directors. Directors serve four-year terms with elections held every two years in May. While the Apex Park and Recreation District works collaboratively with other entities, it is a separate agency not connected to other government agencies.

On April 25, 2019, a deadly traffic collision occurred on Interstate 70 near Lakewood, Colorado, United States, when a semi-trailer truck's brakes allegedly malfunctioned, causing the truck to crash into 12 cars and three other semi-trailer trucks, resulting in multiple fires and explosions, killing four people. The truck was driven by Rogel Lazaro Aguilera Mederos, who was later convicted of vehicular homicide.
